I'm so excited, the new series starts next week Grin. Link

Are you watching late too, big?

I'm watching now ... they've just started the babas.

I do like Brendan. Bless him.

BigHairyFlowers · 15/08/2012 00:32

No, I watched it earlier, I just got here late!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 15/08/2012 00:35

Oh ... I was hoping a bit!

It's good though, just seen Paul Hollywood utter the words I never thought he would, 'too much salt'!

I love the posh lady, too.

VikingVagine · 15/08/2012 07:30

Catherine reminds me of last year's Holly. I still can't place where I know Victoria from and it's annoying me!

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/08/2012 07:35

Catherine- very pretty but nervy, though that might be a cover. I like James and Victoria and Brendan.

FeeFiFoBum · 15/08/2012 07:57

I don't think I can bear Catherine to stay in, she looks like she's going to wet herself in fear all the time and when the judges came over to talk to her I thought she might actually faint! It's too tense watching her!

I like the older cello playing chap, the young guy who soaked his rumbabas back in the tin and the super posh lady is jolly nice too. Actually no-one too annoying, I liked the lady who went but she did make a right mess of it all

I must learn their names Grin

JulesJules · 15/08/2012 09:52

Loved it. Gutted about Natasha going, the DDs and I outraged that boiling your babas was worse than mistaking salt for sugar, fgs.

Mel and Sue on top form, we also enjoyed Mel's 'bunny ears' moment.

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2012 11:13

Hear Hear julesJules Grin I don't like that P.E. teacher Hmm

hiviolet · 15/08/2012 12:40

Outtolunchagain, you're right, we didn't see all of the shopstopper cakes! I didn't realise at the time (too many contestants to keep track of) but that's ridiculous!

Agree that Catherine seems to be this year's Holly (i.e. rather unlikeable, dare I say it). I'm always suspicious of a baker who looks way to thin to actually eat any of their creations.

hiviolet · 15/08/2012 12:41

*too thin, I mean /pedant

dylsmimi · 15/08/2012 12:55

we are having a discussion in the office about last nights show and talking about the showstopper cakes but can't remember which one Brendan (older man) made?
can anyone help?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/08/2012 13:13

I love Mel and Sue!

Loved the softly spoken Irish guy who's 'fond of Gloria Gaynor'. That's not a euphemism. Grin.

Also rather like blackbird-pie lady, although she's a bit jolly-hockey-sticks, but have to confess I didn't like/get her blackbird cake, not the inside bit anyway; didn't look like much to me.

Felt v sorry for the woman who was booted out although she was a bit rubbish; she seemed so warm and nice. Her final cake may have been raw, but it looked beautiful on the outside with all those roses.

Guy who made the good Union flag cake is weirdly intense and I suspect him of harbouring deep reserves of scary anger. Kind of person who turns up in the news because they've found someone's remains in a binbag in his shed.

Young woman with the bob (I can't remember anyone's names) is too tense to watch. Annoying big-eyed 'Gosh, you like it? Really' type.

Young Scottish bloke is sweet but needs a shirt/T-shirt under his V-neck jumpers.

Loved the sound of that kumquat polenta cake.

rhetorician · 15/08/2012 13:42

I like Ryan; he is a sweetheart, and made pretty good cakes as well

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2012 14:04

Yes I agree about about Mel and Sue lady I didn't like the good union jack cake maker either and I've a horrible suspicion he's likely to win! I'm not sure about the immediate difficulty of the cake making it seems kinder to work up to the complicated ones IYSWIM. I hate all that 'This is going to be so hard yr eyes will drop out" sort of masterchef thing.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/08/2012 14:07

You might be right about creepy shed man, ppeatfruit. Although I think the blackbird-pie woman has a v good chance as well.

Sorry. I mean Victoria (have looked them all up!).

Danny might be a dark horse.

I want Mel and Sue to do a new series of Light Lunch/Late Lunch/whatever? (Afternoon Tea?). I used to love it. [lives in the 90s emoticon]

AnneOfCleavers · 15/08/2012 14:09

Maybe this will help everyone remember names

I really liked Sarah-Jane, she seemed so nice. I like Cathryn - she reminds me of what I'm like when I'm baking for other people, especially my mum.

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2012 14:21

Thanks for the link AnneofCleavers helpful but there's too many of them ATM Grin IMO the women all seemed nice. Not one really dishy guy though Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/08/2012 14:28

Is John intended to be this series' Rob?

I agree, there are so many it all went by in a flash. We didn't really get to see them in action enough to form opinions on them apart from my kneejerk ones.

I suppose as they get whittled down we'll see more of them as individuals.

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2012 14:33

There's not one bloke to equal Rob; that Stuart P.E. teacher was so far up himself and failed spectacularly (serve him right) Grin he should've gone!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/08/2012 14:41

He did rather love himself, didn't he?

Not that I was that keen on Rob either, TBH.

Out of the lot of them, I want to go for cocktails with Brendan, and a long walk on a cold beach with James. He can rustle up hot chocolate and home-baked buns afterwards, to, if he likes. [magnanimous]

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2012 14:57

James is a little boy (old gimmer emoticom)Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/08/2012 15:00

I'm only asking for a walk and some scran afterwards!

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2012 17:33

'scran' that's a new word for me what's it mean lady?

ppeatfruit · 15/08/2012 17:40

btw i'm not being judgey for all I know you're a little girl Grin

HazeltheMcWitch · 15/08/2012 17:46

Scran? Not sure I can post its meaning on a site meant for mothers.

It means food.
