Yes Lady I agree about Cathryn she also thought she was VERY good like Br. you'll be pleased to know I've changed my opinion about James I LIKE him!Grin he's unassuming and clever and MUST beat Brendan who is becoming more annoying with every ep. I still like Danny but her baking is not as technically clever as the blokes. Of course!!!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/10/2012 09:28

ppeat, we obviously must continue to agree to disagree about Brendan. I like his waspishness and his quiet confidence, probably because I think that baking, and this competition, really means a great deal to him.

Am finding Danny a bit dull, tbh. Pleasant, but dull.

I'm pleased that James seems to have curbed his impulse to put booze in everything; that was about the only thing I didn't like about him. Apart from the obscurely obscene sight of him in his apron with shorts underneath that made it look as if he was wearing nothing under it Grin

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2012 09:49

D'you know I watched the repeat and never noticed that lady !You've got a one track mind Grin

The thing about Br. is that IMO he thinks 'well i've been baking for longer than anyone here only excluding M.B.' it's like putting MB into the contest IYSWIM. I was pleased they didn't like his disgusting looking gingerbread house esp. since he hadn't listened to Salty saying he'd destroy any 'normal' looking houses!!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/10/2012 10:08

Two-track at least; I didn't find that in the LEAST attractive! John was also a 'no-trousers' apron-illusion offender. Bleurggh.

I think Brendan's comments about his age were just as self-deprecating as they were competitive. But I don't mind a bit of competitiveness anyway.

scattercushion · 08/10/2012 11:21

I want to read the radio times biographies as mentioned above but can't find them. Can anyone do a link for me? Pwetty please? Bats eyelids in Cathryn-esque way.

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2012 11:38

sorry scattter my compooter always says 'no' to links.

scattercushion · 08/10/2012 11:43

(stamps foot)
What about just directing me to where it is on the radio times page of gbbo?
(starts batting again)

hanahsaunt · 08/10/2012 11:58

Did think that Brendan had an if looks could kill moment re James's marvellous creation. Brendan may have spent hours prettyfying his but really when it comes down to it, it was a house which is about the most basic construction you can do with gingerbread and this was meant to be a showstopper. Judges, quite rightly imho, commented not just on the structure but also on the flavour - looks aren't everything. Feeling quite grumpy towards Brendan now.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/10/2012 12:06

Here you go, scatter: linky linky

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2012 12:07

me too hanahs i've always felt he has an "Entitled" look about him.

reshetima · 08/10/2012 12:10

ppeatfruit if you want vegetarian marshmallow and you live in a Jewish area, you could look for a kosher deli, e.g. www.justkosher.co.uk/.

scattercushion · 08/10/2012 12:16

Thank you LCCM! (Twirls round delightedly)

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2012 14:16

Thanks a lot reshetima Grin

ViviPru · 08/10/2012 15:38

"There was one person who was very ambitious and told us every day that they were going to win it but we got used to that." ~ Brendan

I wonder who he is referring to here???

Bunbaker · 08/10/2012 15:58

Yes, I wondered as well.

MsIngaFewmarbles · 08/10/2012 16:06

Cathryn, under all the 'ooh look at me I'm such a silly girly' stuff I bet she's uber competitive.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 08/10/2012 16:51

I reckon it was Stuart.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/10/2012 17:16

I said earlier I thought it was Stuart too, HoldMe!

Love your username, btw Grin

ppeatfruit · 08/10/2012 17:34

Yes he was very competitive which is why I knew he'd go early (he didn't have the ability to back up his mouth!!)

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/10/2012 17:48

Arrogant as well, I thought. Like he could just wing it and succeed.

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2012 09:33

Precisely lady Joins in the tutting; i've never liked P.E. teachers Grin should there be a new thread?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 09/10/2012 09:38

That's a good point. I don't think I've ever met a nice one; all petty dictators IME. I'm sure plenty of outraged PE teachers/wives/husbands/partners/friends/family of PE teachers will be along to shake their fists at us though. Grin

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2012 10:20

I was at C of E (teacher training college) before they all became unis. and we used to take the pxx out of the P.E. teachers.I've never forgotten the pervy types at school. I'm sure they're not ALL mean but a good number of them were and still are Sad (if a recent thread on here is anything to go by).

MunchkinsMumof2 · 09/10/2012 12:41

I am ridiculously excited about the semi finals tonight but equally don't want it to end, this and Gareth's Choir are the best things on imo!

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2012 15:12

Yes IKWYM Munchkins Grin
