Well i enjoyed it and not a great Murray fan but was by the end. It peed me off slightly all the celebs turning out for fre tickets just coz it was Murray mint tsk! And.... jeez i would have loved to have gone and watched that and had a great big smile on my face unlike Misery Beckham - jeez love if your not there to enjoy it feck off or is it because everyone was probs looking at future queeny and not her the silly bint. Eeeesh and breathe Grin. I love wimbers Smile

PuffPants · 08/07/2012 19:45

God yes, VB just looked so out of place, so uncomfortable, so insecure. Hiding behind those stupid glasses because all eyes would, of course, be on her - at the Wimbledon final! Compare her to Kate Middleton; no shades, no preening, just smiling, chatting and looking normal.

noyouhavehadawee · 08/07/2012 19:49

Mr Beckham must comment to here surely "away vicaroo stop being a mardy cow and smile everyone is saying you look miserable" whilst he oggles at Kate Midders

NewGirlInTown · 08/07/2012 19:50

Fantastic Federer!

Andy will win one day, maybe even Olympics

Davros · 08/07/2012 20:04

Oh good I just heard that Andy Murray lost, ha ha.
Now we can get back to proper sport like cricket and F1

ThePan · 08/07/2012 20:16

After all of that "Andy hates English" and 'hes actually British you know', did anyone else notice that within seconds of the end, the first thing the BBC commentator announced : " He did himself and his nation proud".

Not

" He did the nation proud." As soon as he was beaten he has reverted to being a Scot rather than a Brit.
Sooo clear.

SunflowersSmile · 08/07/2012 20:19

I think Sue Barker was a meanie with the microphone. He didn't want to talk at all let alone for that long. Did you see he had to put the microphone on the ground to escape...

bossboggle · 08/07/2012 20:25

Klingon tennis??!! - Mr Federer would stand no chance!! I was lucky enough to watch the tennis in 3D - quite amazing!! We were dodging the balls!!

LetUsPrey · 08/07/2012 20:27

ThePan TBH I think you're reading a bit too much into that. I think the commentator meant GB as his nation, not Scotland. Unless it was Andrew Castle of course, in which case it's anyone's guess what he was on about.

ThePan · 08/07/2012 20:33

erm, no I don't think I am reading too much into it. English commentators have a long and inglorious history at that sort of thing. If he meant UK/GB he would have said the as he would for any athlete. But we disagree.

Gilberte · 08/07/2012 20:49

"Yes Ivan soup ladle got beaten by two much better looking much more charismatic players.

I remember DMum, DSIS and I yelling at the TV."

Well like Andy ( and I admit I was not impressed with his semi-final interview- though all is forgiven now) Lendl was very misunderstood. If you watch any interviews with him now you'll find him to be very charming. He is a renowned joker and I believe a real gentleman. As he said in an article about Andy, don't judge him by what he's like in the office 9-5.

But then he did write to me when I was a young fan so I'm biased.

dementedma · 08/07/2012 20:51

thepan - oh do put that chip down for a few minutes and just enjoy the sport for a while.

ThePan · 08/07/2012 20:56

only if it's a really deep-fried chip, with lots of batter with it and a bottle of Buckfast to wash it down with.Smile

MrsVamos · 08/07/2012 21:22

Aww. Andy's lovely. I think he did himself huge favours crying today - I think people will have something emotional to latch on to now and will support him more. Next time I reckon.

Hownoobrooncoo · 08/07/2012 21:42

Was a fan of Lendl back in the day. Always wanted him to win Wimbledon.

NaturalNatures · 08/07/2012 21:50

Just back to apologise for my hysterics at the start of the thread.

I do find it difficult and got over emotional.

Sorry to MrsVamos, Raah and Maryz.

RaahhtherExcitedaboutTheTennis · 08/07/2012 21:58

natural- no apologies needed, really. We all support who we do , it's sport. Am really quite tipsy- that's quite normal. Grin

It was a well fought final. It was fab. best man won

I'll avoid aibu and scotland/england stuff and try again for the olympics if ok?

Emotional is good but I'll leave the hysterical paranoia, relative newbie

LetUsPrey · 08/07/2012 22:50

Agrred Maryz. I even tried to be nice about Djokovic. Gosh.

Haven't read any of the AIBU threads about the tennis. I've just stayed on these ones, if that makes sense, and jolly nice it's been too.

FarrowAndBollock · 08/07/2012 22:52

Everymoans that Murray is miserble, but his childhood wasn't exactly happy-shiny. His mum left the family home to live locally and he missed being shot in Dumblane by hiding under his headmaster's desk. Friends' siblings were killed.

Give the guy a chance!
