I can't remember the last time I really got into a programme.

Recently(ISH) DH and I have loved Lost, Niptuck, even OC but I haven't found anything that has captured my imagination for ages Sad

Any ideas?

TIA x

The Wire? (First series was excellent)

Sidge · 14/06/2012 21:53

The Big Bang Theory

It's hilarious!

cocolepew · 14/06/2012 21:53

Dexter. This one has been superb.

welliesundermeballgoon · 14/06/2012 21:59

Ah now I have considered Dexter! Haven't heard of the wire, I will investigate! The big bang theory, isn't that a science experimenty type thing or am I confusing it with something else?

Its difficult as DH is into sci-fi and I'm...well...not Confused

You're thinking of Bang Goes the Theory on BBC1 which is a sciency programme.

The Big Bang Theory is an American sitcom - it's really funny and clever!

welliesundermeballgoon · 14/06/2012 22:04

Oh right! I will look into it! Thanks Thanks

I am not sure if The Wire might be a bit hectic, it depends what you like. It's all about the police and Boston Projects (US equivalent to super rough council estate). The first series is all about drug pushing, you see both perspectives and it is utterly brilliant.

I ended up rather in love with Stringer Bell (one of the top drug honchos).

It is filmed in quite a unique way, won lots of awards for being ground breaking etc.

There are some nasty bits but they mostly imply rather than use violence for violence's sake.

Embarrassingly DH and I had to put the subtitles on at the start as the accents are quite strong (made more embarrassing as said Stringer Bell and Dominic West (who plays the main cop) are both Brits!)

Nagoo · 14/06/2012 22:05

Being Human?

Prison Break.

Breaking Bad

SenoritaViva · 14/06/2012 22:06

Did you watch Homeland? (not sure if it's still on 4od)

summerfreckles · 14/06/2012 22:08

yes, THE WIRE!!! ( oh la la Dominic West)

and if you don't mind a bit of quite rude language- SOUTH BOUND AND DOWN
it's hilarious.

Silver66 · 14/06/2012 22:09

misfits - the best thing i have watched for ages

channel 4 OD

watch it from the beginning - it just gets better and better ......................

welliesundermeballgoon · 14/06/2012 22:13

I'm a little Blush that I haven't seen any of these!! SenoritaViva- in a way I know what you mean re subtitles- I used to love ER but the last few series I couldn't hear a word they said, I don't know if it was backing music or accents or what but I was constantly saying 'eh' 'what did he say?' in the end we gave up!!

Oh yes Homeland was the best new series for ages.

For comedy as well as BBT The Middle and Modern Family are both really good.

Borgen was brilliant (Denmark), and I liked the first episode of the bridge too. Dont think they're on catch up tv right now though.

VivaLeBeaver · 14/06/2012 22:39

Mad Men
Homeland
Game of Thrones.

I gave up with The Wire as I couldn't understand what they were saying.
