I can't remember the last time I really got into a programme.

Recently(ISH) DH and I have loved Lost, Niptuck, even OC but I haven't found anything that has captured my imagination for ages Sad

Any ideas?

TIA x

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I will have to show the list to DH as there's so many!

I've also just remembered that I have got half of "call the midwife" left to watch- I've watched a few and loved them, although I will have to reserve the rest for DH's 'away days' as it's not his Brew at all! I also have PanAm on series link but never watched- is it worth the effort?

Dexter - best show ever!!

Modern Family - wonderfully hilarious.
Curb Your Enthusiasm- cringeworthy comedy
Death Valley - zombie/vampire cop comedy on MTV, I know , but it really is so funny!!
True Blood - vampire, black comedy

Pan Am is uneven, I'd say. It looks stylish, but Mad Men it ain't. I'd watch it in preference to your average tv though.

LeB0F · 15/06/2012 21:44

Ooh, I've thought of another one that will blow you away: Deadwood. Amazing.

CockBollocks · 15/06/2012 21:52

On a Thursday nights I have an evening of American Sitcom on E4!!

The Big Bang Theory
How I met Your Mother
Two Broke Girls

Then
Dont Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23

I like Thursdays!!

Breaking Bad
Misfits
Being Human
Boardwalk Empire
House
Dexter
Six Feet Under

LeB0F · 15/06/2012 22:01

Oh yes, Six Feet Under is proper quality.

EddieIzzardIsMine · 15/06/2012 22:05

Whatabout The Killing?

Itsgottabebags · 15/06/2012 22:47

The IT Crowd all available on 40D via You Tube?

I've got Game of Thrones sitting here in a box waiting to be started. It says 18 certificate on the side - so probably not suitable for me. All my kids reckon their friends have watched it and say Lord of the Rings with sex. I'm going to watch it with my husband and will have to hide the box.

Gingefringe · 16/06/2012 15:35

I'm loving Modern Family - the characters are wonderful. Got 2 series on boxed sets and we dip into these regularly. Series 3 is occasionally shown on Sky.

Best sitcom: Frasier. No contest.
Best series: The Sopranoes, no contest AT ALL

You can also try:
Friday Night Lights, it is fantastic, and coach Taylor is the best.
The Wire, very good but not as good as it thinks it is.
Mad Men, very good also, very stylish but ultimately a bit empty.
Twin Peaks: a bit old now, but still fantastic if you like weird stuff that doesn't always make sense, and can accept the disappointing ending.

If your DH is into SF but you're not, you could give a look at Battlestar Galactica.

I couldn't go on with Breaking Bad, the lead character is impossible to warm to.
Six Feet Under is good quality but deadly boring and vacuous.

catus · 16/06/2012 15:53

Oh, and The killing, seasons 1 and 2. Superb.

Tortington · 16/06/2012 15:54

silk

bumbez · 16/06/2012 18:59

The Killing gets my vote - Danish version though.

bumbez · 16/06/2012 19:01

Curb your Enthusiasm

qo · 16/06/2012 19:03

I had to have the subtitles on for the first season of the wire too!! Grin

Moomenny · 17/06/2012 00:28

The bridge was brilliant (bbc4)

TwoIfBySea · 17/06/2012 00:34

I was going to suggest Grimm but the series is nearly over!

NunOnTheRun · 18/06/2012 18:27

I second bettyboo83's recommendation of The Good Wife.

Ishoes · 18/06/2012 18:37

Cant believe noone has mentioned Winners and Losers!!

I think I must be the only one watching it as itv2 kept changing the day/time it was on.

First series just finished but I think you can still catch episodes on itvplayer. Tis an australian series and a bit soapy but I thought the characters were all really watchable.

Cant wait for the second series after seeing the cliffhanger in the final episode!!
