meggmoo · 01/03/2006 23:09

Armstrongs?

SheilaBlige · 01/03/2006 23:12

The Armstrongs is amazingly brilliant and is on straight after The Apprentice

meggmoo · 01/03/2006 23:12

I'll have to watch next week

jetsetmum · 01/03/2006 23:24

meggmoo - you have to watch it - reality TV???? how not to run a business - hilarious

Moomin · 02/03/2006 19:12

this was class. compulsive viewing for dh and i last year and now this year as well.

both pitches were toe-curlingly embarrassing - what about him saying 'forgive me if i get emotional during this presentation but i feel so strongly about GOSH' hilarious!!!
this year's lot are so much more full of all that coporate bullshit talk. Just waiting for the first one to say 'well let's run it up the flagpole and see who salutes it' I can guarantee at least one of them will before the series has ended.

CaptainCavemansMummy · 02/03/2006 19:21

fab fab fab. Deffo sacked the right person, she had the business clout of ds (21 mo), in fact, ds could have given a better presentation too.

Did the boys realised that the blackboard in the background of their 'teacher' baby said GSOH instead of GOSH. Unless it was a baby dating advert and he was after someone with a GSOH?!!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 02/03/2006 19:27

nooo I wanted JO to go I can't stand her think she's worse than Saira and that annoying Italian bloke last year put together

milward · 02/03/2006 19:34

Can't believe how rubbish the contestants are! - no price sorted for the boys team & the cringy presentation from the girls. Plus the cat calender was completely useless - couldn't see the dates or write on it. AS fired the right person this week!

maximillion · 02/03/2006 19:45

Cannot believe that this lot is the best they could find. There are people in my office that could do a better job that with their eyes closed. Mind you, it must be pretty stressful being in a 'team' with all those rampant egos and desperation to win. I think the curly-haired blubber should stay because it's heee-arious watching her go all blotchy and ranty. The boys were almost as bad last night with Tuan sobbing because his DTP calendar was rubbish - FGS 'comic sans' font - our playgroup uses that! Samuel is useless - should have gone last week. In fact, they should all go and get some new ones in!

The Armstrongs! Fab, in a word. But does anyone else think it's a spoof?

I find it a bit embarrassing that they are considered to be the young entrepreneurial elite of Britain.

I mean the US contestants look so much more groomed and polished than the Brits and I'm sure would wipe their arses with this lot.

maximillion · 02/03/2006 19:49

Just seen the other thread on Armstrongs with links to their website. I am so happy it's real. I love that woman - she's like someone out of a Gary Larson cartoon.

I never saw the first series so am relieved to hear that the contestants then were not so full of complete businessbabble.
Dh works in a business school and said that none of this lot would be allowed past the door. "young entrepreneurs"?
I wanted to hand Nargis a kirbigrip. As well as a P45.
Karen or Ansell, I think. I am a sad old traditionalist who regretted that Ben was carpeted in round one, so will keep watching to see the horrendous Syed get his comeuppance.

Enid · 03/03/2006 11:16

they are much worse this time round

I can't stand Karen although she is obviously very bright and clever

the boys are all laughable

NomDePlume · 03/03/2006 11:20

Mani is a complete tw*t. His presentation style ('it's what I do for a living'- HA!) and general God complex are hideous.

I'm sooooo glad that woman got kicked out last. Her presentations of the calendars were cringe-worthy. "Did you know there are 6 million cat owners in the UK, most of them in London ?" ^^. When she told the buyers "I haven't finished speaking" during the sales pitch was Shock. Classic. WTF were they thinking doing a kittens calendar ?! It was awful. I think that blonde curly haired HR woman needs to toughen up and learn when she has said enough, but I do think she has real potential.

SheilaBlige · 03/03/2006 11:22

I warmed to Jo/Sally Gunnell in the last programme. She was so right about the calendar. But all this crying mallarkey has got to stop.

I think Jo's for the chop next week as she's project manager ...

anteater · 03/03/2006 13:18

Is this the best AS could muster?

I guess they have been chosen for their clash rather than business potential.

2Happy · 03/03/2006 13:48

That's a point - who chooses the shortlist? Is is AS or the BBC? Are they chosen for the business potential, or their conflict/watchability potential?

Enid · 03/03/2006 14:03

in the US version there is a bit at the end when they say 'Mr trumps decision is made jointly with the producers of the show' Grin

meggmoo · 03/03/2006 14:08

I'm starting to think that it's more big brother than real apprentice. I think AS loves JO in the same way he was very fond of Saira [cringe]

saadia · 03/03/2006 16:58

Dh and I were appalled by Nargis' hair. I wish someone had introduced the concept of washing and conditioning to her. Having said that her hair looked lovely on the after-show discussion on BBC3.

robin3 · 03/03/2006 17:13

Jo can't possibly survive...she's cried 5 times in 2 episodes....girl needs a therapist not a job.

LIZS · 03/03/2006 17:16

well, she was in HR {runs}..... can you imagine her having to sack or discipline someone.

zippitippitoes · 03/03/2006 17:18

I think she might be the kind of person who is harsh on others but weak herself

I'm still trying to beleive that anyone could be so poor at presenting a product, at least I can understand poor but not rude
