I love American telly - love Mad Men, Good Wife, CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds etc.
My brother just lent me the box set of season 1-7 of the West Wing.
I don't know anyone whose watched this although am obviously aware of it's critical acclaim.

Anyone?

Sorry about the delay, I'm back and half way through season 2.

F* me how good is this programme? How clever is the writing? How funny?
After each episode I feel like I need to watch it again because some of the dialogue is so subtle it's easy to miss the first time.

It's hard to have favourites - I would feel disloyal Smile

I want to be CJ, I want Leo to be my dad, I want a Josh and Sam sandwich Grin

How cute is Charlie? What's Peggy doing as the President's daughter?

Oh it's fabulous.

Cheesy sometimes. It that makes it all the more lovable. Watching it is like getting into a lovely warm bath. Sigh.

And you haven't even got to the best bits yet Grin

oh goody a west wing thread Smile

I have just started watching at the beginning (again perhaps 4th or 5th viewing).

I do have a question which has always bugged me - in the pilot when the lovely Josh loses it with the far right christian woman and says "the god you pray to is too busy being indited for tax fraud" is that a reference to Martha Stewart? or I have got the wrong end of the stick?

thefemalejoshlyman · 11/05/2012 17:12

I have just finished my first time through - so brilliant!

As a result I have done my first ever namechange Smile

MardyBra · 11/05/2012 17:42

Do you roll back your sleeves to reveal your sexy hairy forearms thefemalejoshlyman?

thefemalejoshlyman · 11/05/2012 18:59

Grin No but I do have rage on occasion and become a serious workaholic.

MardyBra · 11/05/2012 19:05

Grin. Have you considered capitalising btw. I read you as The Female Joshly Man to begin with.

Ilovedaintynuts · 11/05/2012 19:34

mardybra so did I - I read thefemalejoshly-man.
I thought I hadn't quite understood the name-change Grin

Yes, that would be a good idea. Name change fail. Serves me right for trying to name change whilst bf my ds.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 11/05/2012 21:30

There we go. Is that a bit better?

Anyway, Josh was definitely a grower - began watching as a Sam fan but by series 6/7 I only had eyes for Josh.

Ilovedaintynuts · 12/05/2012 07:24

Yeah much better TheFemaleJoshLyman Grin

Someone bring TheFemaleJoshLyman all the muffins and bagels in the land Grin

Gilmoregirl - I think "being indicted for tax fraud" is a reference to some evangelical TV preachers (? Someone Stewart, male, not Martha iirc) who were convicted of tax fraud.

'outstanding', to THeFemaleJoshLyman.."

Just popped on to say how much I enjoyed watching again The American President which ITV 3 put on last night. We could do a whole thread on lines and situations which Sorkin then took to the WW series.

If you want to play, I'll start - Sydney doesn't believe it's the president on the phone / same set up as Ainsley doesn't believe it's Leo on the phone.
