MarshaBrady · 22/03/2012 19:16

I adore Don Draper.

How long do do we have to wait if we don't have Sky Atlantic?

BrightnessFalls · 22/03/2012 19:29

My brother in law reckons it will be a available to download quite quickly. Yes, I will be drinking I might even take up smoking again.

I'm so excited now.........

BellaCB · 23/03/2012 22:15

Oh my god I am so excited its silly... Blush

madaboutmadmen, have you ever had an Old Fashioned? I once ordered one in a cocktail bar purely because - well, purely because it was an Old Fashioned. And it was awful!

Pitmountainpony · 23/03/2012 23:02

Oohhhhh countdown here in the us. It starts Sunday night. My sweet husband booked me my last night out before our baby arrives and I went to hear the cast and writer talk about it....in beverley hills.
it was fascinating. None of the cast really know what is happening beyond the few episodes ahead.john Hamm was so sweet and diffident.....all shy when the audience gave him a massive round of applause. They all seemed so like able. It was really fun to see them all out of their 60 s attire.the writer was super bright....a bit waspish but also worked on the sopranos...no surprise there.
I love this show.

YNK · 23/03/2012 23:12

I'm really looking forward to it too!
I hadn't seen the trailer so thanks for that!!!

Whatevertheweather · 23/03/2012 23:15

Gah no Sky Atlantic here either - will it be on BBC later on do you think?

madaboutmadmen · 24/03/2012 07:01

no never had an old fashioned, crap with anything like that unless there's loads of mixers. Trying hard to finish series 4 before Tuesday (that's when it starts in Uk - at 9 I think, double bill).

I think I might dress up as Joan, now where did thosr melons go?!.....WinkWink

BrightnessFalls · 24/03/2012 08:51

I dont think it will be on the BBC as I havent seen them do that with any other series recently. You will beable to download it.

When I was in LA a couple of years ago, I was in the midst of all the "in" people and was amazed that no-one even knew about it over there. It clearly has snowballed since then.

Can we have a quick recap of the last season? were did we leave it? Don got engaged to his secretary and, is Joan pregnant?

I am so excited. Even now, I only know about three people who watch it. Thank goodness for this place Smile

Series 4 was on bbc4 last year though? Will wait hopefully that they will show series 5 too!

BrightnessFalls · 24/03/2012 09:29

It was only on BBC4 because Sky hadnt bought it then. Its so not fair.

OP posts:
madaboutmadmen · 24/03/2012 10:55

yes Joan is pregnant with Roger's baby while Greg is away with the army. Don is engaged ( or possibly married? not got that far on the recap yet ) to Megan.

madaboutmadmen · 24/03/2012 10:56

It's the only bloody reason I'm still a Sky customer Angry

BellaCB · 24/03/2012 10:57

whatever - it won't be on BBC as Sky now own the rights. Sadly, when DP and I were choosing between Sky and Virgin when we moved into our new house, we actually chose Sky purely for Sky Atlantic for Mad Men and Game of Thrones!

Pitmountainpony · 24/03/2012 16:13

It is indeed pretty well known here but still has a select audience- how come no one watches it in the UK? I can hardly believe it- it is too good to be missed.

Pascha · 24/03/2012 16:20

I'm closing this thread now because I'm only halfway through series 3 boxset. It will take me about 3 months to get to series 4 at the rate I get to watch an episode.

BrightnessFalls · 24/03/2012 18:33

I think the reason it was not so popular in the UK is that it was on so blinking late. The market for it was long in bed. It has a niche audience like in the UK. The trendy people love the fashion, its in all the magazines. It doesnt mean they watch the show though!! I have one friend at work who watches it. I do think, for me anyway, it wasnt as grabbing at the beginning. It needed concentration, I remember nearly giving up.
