Tracey & Steve, what happens now?

They got married so does this mean that Tracey is now entitled to half his worth? He's just bought the house and hasn't sold the pub and then there is the taxi co and the flat above. I'm guessing he can't annul? This is presumably how they are going to string it out

I won't link here, as I know some don't like spoilers.

But if you go to Digital Spy there is info on that bit of plot development. Actually, the whole of next week looks pretty unwatchable, unfortunately.

LineRunner · 30/01/2012 08:33

I caught up in ITV Player alst night, and I thought the scenes with Deidre and Stella, and Tracey just turning up Steve's house, were terribly contrived. (Yes, I know it isn't actually real...)

The only scenes that are any good are the ones with Ken. And I never thought I'd be typing that.

EdithWeston · 30/01/2012 20:32

OK: any family legal types around.

A lawyer appears to have told Steve that only Tracey can apply for an annulment (presumably as the marriage is voidable for non-consummation). This sounds like bollocks to me - I thought either party could make the initial application.

Anyone know for sure?

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 30/01/2012 20:45

Either partner can file, the marriage is "voidable" on the grounds of non -consummation. As long as they didn't have a quickie between church and pub. Grin

EdithWeston · 30/01/2012 20:52

So that's the third major plot error around the character of Tracey.

It really is desperately abysmal.

hocuspontas · 30/01/2012 21:10

If Steve gives in I can't watch any more.

ivykaty44 · 30/01/2012 21:50

My first memory of coronation street was Elsie Tanner, I know gail was one of her lodgers and that was how she met Brian. There was also someone up in the lofts - which go all the way through the dtreet in the terrace.

I do also remember tracey being buried alive in her buggy - her mum left her outside whilst she nipped in and there was a crash and it brought half the pub down on top of Tracey - they could have killed her of then. Traceys dad had an affair with someone - I was shocked seeing them snogging - but this was early days of tv kissing!

LineRunner · 31/01/2012 00:31

Oooh yes.

Gail worked with Suzie, the red-headed vixen. Mike Baldwin and Sylvia's Separates come to mind.

Deirdre was married to Ray Langston who copped off with the dusky lass. Is Ray actually Tracey's dad?

LineRunner · 31/01/2012 00:32

Langton. Mea Culpa.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 31/01/2012 00:38

Yes, iIrc, Ray was/is Tracey's dad.

BustersOfDoom · 31/01/2012 00:43

The dusky lass who Ray copped off with and left Dreary for was the councillor who Del and Rodney rescued when they were dressed as Batman and Robin. And she was a nurse in Angels.

And that Suzie Birchall was no better than she should've been!

LineRunner · 31/01/2012 00:58

Suzie Birchall! That's the one.

ProfYaffle · 31/01/2012 06:43

Ooh - I remember Tracy being buried under the rubble of the Rovers, it's one of my earliest Corrie memories. I would've been about the same age dd1 is now, I watched it with my Mum. I regularly force dd1 to watch in the hope of the fan-dom rubbing off on her but she's not terribly impressed!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/01/2012 08:01

Ken adopted her though, so she is his problem now. I don't remember her being buried, must have been around when I started watching though. Pity they didn't leave her there.

ProfYaffle · 31/01/2012 08:08

Just looked it up on wikipedia, it was 1979 so I was 7 exactly the same as dd1 now. I think it turned out that she wasn't buried after all, someone had moved her pushchair before the lorry hit or something.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/01/2012 08:14

See, I'm sure I was watching then (I was 12) I vaguely remember Nick being born which must have been earlier.

Surely they would do Leanne and Anne for contempt of court and dissolve the jury for what happened last night?

norriscoleforpm · 31/01/2012 08:29

Nick was born in 1980. new years day I believe. There was a ? about sarah louise's dad as Gail had an affair with Brians Canadian (?) cousin, Ian, around the time.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/01/2012 09:04

Yes, Gail split with Brian then they got back together and Sarah was his but there was some doubt I think. Sounds as though the Tracey thing was before I started really watching then. I wouldn't have put her as being older then Nick I must say.

whatkungfuthat · 31/01/2012 10:22

I remember when Gail and 'our Brian' got together. She got stood up outside the cinema by the guy who sang Jilted John, and Brian came along so she ended up going out with him instead.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 31/01/2012 13:48

Catching up with last nights now, am struggling to watch this (the court scenes), really want to turn it off. Can't believe the writers thought it would be a good idea to let him get off I do know what is happening in future, but still....

theliverpoolone · 31/01/2012 14:28

The OTT pantomime barristers really bugged me. Poor Leanne though Sad

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/01/2012 14:54

The Brian and the head of governors scene was pretty poor too, I have no experience of working in a school, although I spend quite a lot of time at my DCs primary and it seemed totally unbelievable that he would have a) got the job in the first place and b) get away with having no plans to improve his Ofsted and c) think that it didn't matter

thegingerwhinger · 31/01/2012 16:47

I don't understand how Frank's going to get off the rape charge when we all saw that he raped Carla. It will send out a terrible message about rape convictions. Showing the victim being tried like they're the criminal and having their reputation dragged through the mud, then having a jury believe they lied about it.

BrightnessFalls · 31/01/2012 16:50

I hear that there's Afew old faces coming back soon. Who would you like to see? I likes Curly tbh

ProfYaffle · 31/01/2012 16:51

He'll get his comeuppance eventually, people never get away with bad stuff in soaps.
