Oooh nearly that time of year . As we all know there's no Mitchell , so meet the new vampire on the block Hal .
Tom is back, but I have to say (at the moment ) the pic at top of page looks a bit 'odd' ,there's no Nina , and George is leaving as well .
So big changes !
Who's in ?

Eve's floaty, anti functional outfit is annoying me, too. She just does not look the part (who the hell would have been making weddingwear in the apocalyptic world she grew up in?), to the extent that I just FEEL she's a lie. All the other spirits who've come OUT have been duplicitous. There"s something in one of the epics (Inferno or Aeneid or something) about the kind of door a spirit comes out of. I think if it's the ivory one it's not a true spirit?

plutocrap · 21/03/2012 11:37

Got it:
*There is a textual ambiguity in the sixth book of the Aeneid, as Aeneas prepares to leave the underworld.
He has the choice to exit through two doors: one of horn, through which ?true shades pass with
ease,? and one of ivory, through which false dreams pass to the surface. He chooses the door of ivory.

"Dante expands a single book of the Aeneid to encompass one third of his Christian epic... (and the) door (is) now revised into a Christian metaphor. In guiding the pilgrim Dante to the first circle of hell, Limbo, to which the best and noblest minds of antiquity have been condemned along with all the unbaptised, Virgil describes baptism as ?the portal of the faith you embrace.? These two passages, the ivory door which leads to the false dreams of Classical knowledge, and the true door of faith, are juxtaposed within the context of the larger metaphor of Dante?s spiritual journey.*

TheSmallPrint · 21/03/2012 14:44
Confused

So what colour door did she come through then? Grin

susiedaisy · 21/03/2012 15:41

Eve's character is disappointing IMO

worldgonecrazy · 21/03/2012 15:51

I am hoping that Eve isn't Eve, but they did a similar twist in the last series when the prophecies turned out to be hooey. I hope it's something more original this time.

And please let Hal and Tom be okay! I want them in the next series. Don't say there won't be a next series because I'll have to stick my fingers in my ears and start shouting "Nah, Nah, Nah, Can't hear you!!!"

Eggrules · 21/03/2012 16:19

Looked again at the episode to see the Third Scroll because I cannot work out the it's meaning.

  1. Eve changes out of combat gear to into floaty outfit to die and go to Purgatory
  2. The door she went through was a 70s dark wood and glass number

I also looked at blogs and Damien/ Hal post S4 E7 chat to try and illuminate the meaning. Got nothing about Third Scroll however:
Blood is 4 parts beetroot juice and 4 parts tomato juice.
Damien Molony (Hal) would love to do another series.

When Annie helped the neighbour cross over he said that sometimes you may not do something not very nice to cross over hmm.

Off to look at the Third Scroll again.

Eggrules · 21/03/2012 17:07

From Regus's explanation of Scroll One

Top symbol - Pyramid with three lines means death + Baby = Death Baby

Bottom left symbol - Godhead or saviour (same as First Scroll)

Bottom right symbol?:
Circle in half / yin yang could be death symbol in one half. Ghost?
Fork thing could be go through (Annie gets her door)

Need to watch the whole thing again without mning

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 23/03/2012 00:12

Just caught up with it last night (or was it the night before? Confused )

I still don't know if I trust Eve - what if she's a double red herring!!

I reckon they have always had in mind that this could be the last series - if we all hated it and viewing figures were down..so technically, it could go either way.

I love it, I really do. I think now Mitchell and George have gone then maybe Annie should go too - but with an almighty bang (because I love her!). I really like the new ghost, I hope she stays on.

PLEASE have another series, I love this one!

Oh and did you know, there are MNers who know not of this 'fred'. I'm about to link from a Chat fred....

Stilla · 23/03/2012 09:58

Is that the 'cor look at Hal thread ' ? ScaryHair Grin

Now ....I think I saw something (I say think as I can't bloody find it now) linked where in the cast list for ep 7 'Eve' is credited , yet in Ep 8 the same actress is credited as 'the woman' Confused

I can't bloody wait ... yet I don't want it to end ......... EVER!

Eggrules · 23/03/2012 10:10

There were two (three?) supernatural trinities Annie, Mitchell and George (and Nina) and Pearl, Leo and Hal. Annie, Tom and Hal is the third.

I thought the War Child could have been Tom but he is 21.

If the third scroll is read the same way as Regus read the first one it would be Saviour - Death Baby - Ghost.

I think they have set up for something massive to happen with Annie with another ghost replacement. I didn't take part in the web chat but it was really busy. Fingers crossed for series 5.

TheSmallPrint · 23/03/2012 15:45

I am feeling very excited about Sunday and also very sad. BrianCox, just looked at your thread in Chat Grin Hal is very hot especially when he's on the edge . I did love his little stool slid at the bar, how she didn't just grab him there and then I don't know.

plutocrap · 23/03/2012 18:12

O yes, BrianCox, they plotted a similar either-way ending for Death in Paradise, so I guess not even the actors cld spoil the ending! The only thing the actord can do in such circumstances is implicitly appeal to their audience to clamour for more! Wink I must say, I rather like the idea of an emotional appeal by both Hal and Tom...

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 23/03/2012 22:41

Oh yes - I did like Hal when he was all psycho in the bar, just on the edge, barely holding on, desperate for blood!!

I think I have an ishoo with broken-vampires Blush

Angel, Spike, Mitchell......it's only a matter of time before my Hal crush takes hold Grin

plutocrap · 23/03/2012 23:14

crussshing the blood vessssselsssss....

Careful, now. Get yourself some dominoes, woman!

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 23/03/2012 23:15

dominoes and a box of matches!!!

plutocrap · 23/03/2012 23:17

And lots of ab-crunches

plutocrap · 24/03/2012 04:11

Is it too fanciful to imagine there is something in the surname "York", as in Henry of the house of York? It would be rather fun to have a St Crispin's Day-style speech on the eve (pardon the pun) of final battle with the vampires!

Or am i over-thinking it, in my night-feed-induced boredom?!

plutocrap · 24/03/2012 11:40

Definitely too fanciful!

flapperghasted · 24/03/2012 12:28

Hal is lovely. His OCD, people averse, vampirism is corsetted and makes me think of bodice ripping. And I'm probably old enough to be his gran, but he definitely takes Mitchell's place beautifully both in terms of personality and looks. In fact, I think I prefer Hal to Mitchell (Mitch was a bit cocky for me). Grin

susiedaisy · 24/03/2012 12:48

I prefer Hal now I've got used to him, Mitch's hair used to annoy me!!

How fickle are we?Grin

plutocrap · 24/03/2012 19:21

I'm not fickle! I never fancied Mitchell

SemperUbiSubUbi · 24/03/2012 19:27
