Perhaps it´s not about Matthew wanting to marry Mary, though-maybe he has just found out how awful Sir r is-hence "you must not marry him" & maybe Sir R says something bad about Lavinia-hence the punch.

Noooooooooooooo Bates can't hang......he & Anna have a tea-room/hotel to open.

I think the punch is to do with the Turk. (Can't believe it really is coming back - I mean, getting on for 8 years.) This is based on an interview I read over the w/e.

Oh Anna must be upduffed. She will/won't tell Bates because she wants him to have something to fight for/doesn't want him to worry about her. (Delete as appropriate.)

That sounds dangerously like the awful job I used to have bossy. Approaching celebs at parties is like wearing a big sign that says: 'kick me'. Much better when you can hang about with other journalists and bitch.

I will observe though. Actually, at the last Downton thing the hospitality was a bit duff. It was at Highclere so maybe they didn't want people puking on the tapestries. I, of course, never drink while on duty.

The cast were mostly nice though - especially Daisy and Mrs Patmore - which makes a change. Branston was on good form being freed from the constraints of having to deliver historical narrative - 'those Black and Tans are divvils, right enough' and 'they've murdered the Russian Royal Family.'

Hugh Bonneville was subdued. can't think why. I wouldn't mind betting he'll be called away on other urgent commitments tomorrow.

yes please, ALL the gossip, need to impress the DDs with my Good Guessing as to what's going to happen .
