I finally bought Series 1 and finished watching it last night. Loathe O'Brien and Thomas even more. The way she kicked Bates' stick away

Cora's a bit dippy to think O'Brien is fond of here and so loyal. I was surprised to hear her bad-mouth Cora so much as in S2 she's guilt-ridden and not at all caustic about her personally.

Mary and Edith were both alternately vile and pitiable. Not sure I got why Mary changed her mind about Matthew, especially after what she told Cora about being in love with him. Shall have to watch it again...

Ah, Lady Rosamund's maid probably.

ooh the press pack is fantastic. So Mary and Carlisle haven't married - they were planning to in the July following Lavy poo and Matthew in the April. Presumably postponed due to mourning? Would the house have been in mourning for an heir's fiancee? (consults Debretts)
