Oh no. Just channel hopping and realised lovely Gareth Malone is doing his 'choir' thing again-and I have missed the first half. I didn't even know it was on. Sad

OK, it is Unsung Town Revisited, next Monday at 9pm on BBC2 but it also says its on 1st December....

eatyourveg · 23/11/2011 18:09

here's the song if you missed it on the telly

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 18:10

Or is it Ms?

Tell her to namechange and say hello, Siglinde. We are all on our best behaviour and promise not fawn over her much

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 18:10

Whoops, Sieglinde. Sorry. I should know, as my FIL's name is Siegfriend.

vnmum · 23/11/2011 18:38

so does anyone know how to do a facebook and twitter campaign ? Like the one the other year that got rage against the machine to christmas number 1 instead of the xfactor single. we need to to that for this single. It may not be a song I can listen too when DH deploys though as it is so moving

MmeLindor. · 23/11/2011 18:41

vnmum
I helped with the MN miscarriage campaign, but tbh, I think since Chris Evans is behind this we can just all RT and pass on on FB.

If you want us to do anything, let us know

NonnoMum · 23/11/2011 19:06

Will back a Chrimbo Number One from anyone who is NOT connected to The CowellMeister...

seiglinde - is there something you want to tell us??? Are you Mrs C Evans??? Eh? Eh?

Lexilicious · 23/11/2011 20:02

Right that's Christmas sorted - everyone's getting a Military Wives Choir single!!!

and my new year resolution may be to see about joining the choir here - I live in 'unsung town'...

Davros · 23/11/2011 21:12

Ooh, you must join Lexilicious

lovemydog · 23/11/2011 22:46

MarineMrs another one here who loved the show and is totally in awe of you all. I just wondered, did the BBC provide a creche for you? I can't imagine how you could have done it otherwise! And if they did, how will you manage now that the lovely Gareth has gone?

kipperandtiger · 23/11/2011 23:22

An MN campaign to boot yet another boring talent show clone(s) out of the Christmas number one slot would be brill. And the military wives' choir such a worthy candidate. Please keep us updated as to when we should purchase the single!

blondieminx · 24/11/2011 02:03

MarineMrs You were all so fab - cried so much watching this series.

Maybe since Chris Evans is working at getting the single to no.1 for Christmas MN should focus on getting the wonderful and lovely Gareth a knighhood before he turns 13 in the new years honours list? Smile

MmeLindor. · 24/11/2011 06:31

MarineMrs
Just a thought - can you ask Decca if the single will be available for download abroad. One off charity singles such as this often aren't, and I think this is one that a lot of expats will buy. Particularly the ex-forces folk around the world.

Fuzzywood · 24/11/2011 08:21

Chris Evans just announced the release date has been changed to 19th December to go for Christmas number 1.
Playing it full blast in my kitchen now

Sparklingbrook · 24/11/2011 09:25

Thanks Fuzzywood.

Woooo!!!!!!!!!!

Grin

Number 1 for Christmas, here we come!!

anonymousbird · 24/11/2011 10:25

Yes, and now The Sun (bless them) are on board too, there is a link from the Choir's FB page.

It's in the bag, surely?! GO GIRLS!!!!!!!!!

sieglinde · 24/11/2011 10:44

No, not Mrs Chris Anyone. It's rare for me to find myself on the Evans team, but I definitely am with this. And yes to a knighthood for Gareth, too.

Funtimewincies · 24/11/2011 10:49

I really like the studio version as it's nice to be able to hear more of the choir than in the Remembrance Day version (not that the soloist isn't lovely Grin).

I've heard this song 6 or 7 times now and I still well up, which is unheard of for a dried out old trout like me Shock!

Well done and good luck to MarinesMrs and the rest of the choir Smile.

Kez100 · 24/11/2011 10:58

I am so pleased it is being released. It has a very christmassy feel it too, in a modern way.

Count me in for a purchase once I know when and where to buy it from to enable it to top the charts.

AitchTwoOh · 24/11/2011 12:05

i LITERALLY cannot hear 'light up the darkness, my prince of peace' without sobbing. i am totally impervious to the faked emotion of a carefully-heartstring-targeted john lewis advert, but the belief behind that song is devastating...

are the women able to recognise their letters in the piece, marinemrs?

sherbetpips · 24/11/2011 12:14

I wish Chris Evans would stop playing the song in the morning it'd really messing my eye make up up!

Scootergrrrl · 24/11/2011 13:20

I actually had to put waterproof mascara on this morning because I knew it was coming on! I read this on the web about other military wives and that made me cry too. Am also normally a cynical old bat too....

nametapes · 24/11/2011 15:26

count me in !!!

olliepolly · 24/11/2011 17:49

Truly inspiring programme and song. Sung with such pure emotion. Every time I listen to it it has the same impact , let's make it a christmas number 1.
