Soooooooooooooo I still reckon Cora to kick the bucket, shuffle of this mortal coil, sing with the choir eternal etc etc

I bet Jane is handy with a shorehorn for Lord 6, he's been out of action for a while so may need some help.

I´ve found a better version of the link I posted before.

bubbleschimp · 01/11/2011 20:58

oo animation i like your thinking - well i dont but i see where you are going with it IYSWIM

just want everyone to be happyyyyyyy

sugarandspiceandallthingsnice · 01/11/2011 22:47

Yey! I can join in now as caught up in itv player Grin
Agree with MarthasHarbour about foot stamping - everything I want does not seem to be happening. In an ideal world, I want ...

Ethel to find someone lovely (warmed to her, and she has so far had 3 possibles - old discard man from Mary, farm man and back from dead man but nothing has happened for her. Maybe she could have Matthew which would serve Mary right)

Matthew and Mary to either get it on or not, I don't care. Bored with it now.

Branston to just piss off, smarmy git who pushes Sybil around. Maybe he could marry O'Brien after an oops night when they are caught by Lord G. Maybe O'Brien could fatally slip on some soap herself.

Ummm - Bates and Anna to marry. Love them and sick of the 'will they won't they.'

Thomas to be arrested after the black market stuff and just GO AWAY! Bet he stays though Angry. Maybe he could turn out to be the father of Ethel's baby! Grin

Sybil to go off and do her nursing stuff/marry/don't care as long as it is not creepy car man.

Could we hear more about Carson and the circus? Grin

Lord and Lady G to give themselves a shake up and stop being so wet.

I'd really like William back Sad

sugarandspiceandallthingsnice · 01/11/2011 22:49

Oooh, longest post I have made to date Grin

shotinfoot · 01/11/2011 22:58

right, I have analysed the trailer and I reckon it's Lavinia who dies. The dead hand is on a peach bedspread but there isn't one on the wide shot of Cora in bed.

Bossybritches22 · 01/11/2011 23:01

S&S post away, good to have other totally absurd plotlines ideas for JF to pinch off us!!

diddl that link is much clearer & having rewound umpteen times a bit I think the expiring hand is Lavinias, it's slim & young
(although Cora does slap on a lot of handcream )

my money's on Lavinia popping her clogs, M & M were in a churchyard clearly dressed for a funeral.

ooooohhhhh squeals in girly excitement

Pathetic ? Yep, don't give a monkeys if it's Sad I LOVE Downton & this thread makes me hoot!!

LeBOF · 01/11/2011 23:19

I'm getting fed up of Matthew and Mary too. And Anna and Bates- for how many years can a couple keep having the same conversation in a corridor? I can imagine Master Bates forgetting himself and saying it during sex: "It won't be long now, Anna- just be patient!"

diddl · 02/11/2011 00:19

What pissed me off is that Matthew appears to say " seem to be cursed"

Might not even be that or might not be about the two of them, but I just thought oh FFS you could have married 5 bloody years ago.

And now he seems to realise Mary loves him so loves her too?

TipOfTheSlung · 02/11/2011 08:51

Though if Mary died it would solve the whole problem

AKMD · 02/11/2011 08:52

I just think the whole thing is getting a bit boring TBH. How long can you string out the same storylines? M&M need to get married or once and for all go and marry other people this series. The other girls needed to get engaged, ideally married, this series. Anna and Bates needed have been married last series. It's been 7 years since the first episode and none of the major storylines have been resolved? Confused If they string them out to series 3 I won't be watching, it's just getting stupid.

AKMD · 02/11/2011 08:53

:o LeBOF!

diddl · 02/11/2011 09:00

"Though if Mary died it would solve the whole problem"

What a perfect solution!

Anybody think that if they do marry, it´ll be the Christmas Special?

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 02/11/2011 09:00

LeBof is right. Those two never go to the pub for a couple of drinks and a chat. He has always got to tell her something in the corridor. Obviously he wouldn't want to be letting the rest of the staff know about Vera and the arsenic (sounds like an 80s band) but it is all so grubby.

MarthasHarbour · 02/11/2011 09:18

LeBoF you are one saucy little minx Wink

didnt Michelle Dockery do an interview a while back and say that this series there will be a sex scene, a wedding and a funeral and she will be in one of them? well she aint going to be the funeral, which leaves the wedding which means she will probably marry Sir Dick

another continuity thing, this episode was set in 1919, the first bit of convo was Mrs Hughes and (I think) Carson, one of them said - any more news on Mrs Bates? - i mean they were talking like the previous episode had just happened. it surely would have been old news a year later.. (unless as the last ep ended at the armistice ie November - this episode could have started in the January i suppose Hmm )

MarthasHarbour · 02/11/2011 09:20

sugarandspice you talk sense my dear, perfect sense.

why can it not all be just fluffy and loveliness (but with Thomas being all mean and sexy nasty Grin )

limitedperiodonly · 02/11/2011 09:26

How common. Shock

Must be Cora's colonial ways. It would never have happened while Lady Violet was Downton's chatelaine

AKMD · 02/11/2011 09:33

The sex scene: Ethel & Major Bryant
The wedding: William & Daisy
The funeral: Lavvy-poo (HOORAY!!!!! if so).

Mary missed William & Daisy's wedding because she'd just gone to the village to nurse Matthew, ungrateful swine, she definitely wasn't in the sex scene this time so she has to be at the funeral.

diddl · 02/11/2011 10:10

If it is Lavinia-why would the funeral be at Downton?

diddl · 02/11/2011 10:12

"Mary missed William & Daisy's wedding because she'd just gone to the village to nurse Matthew,"

IIRC, Matthew hasn´t left Downton yet.

Mary wouldn´t go to a servant´s wedding, would she?

fruitstick · 02/11/2011 10:12

diddl, good point.

But then she did say she wanted to get married at Downton rather than at home. Maybe she doesn't actually have any family left at all.

OK, I'm grasping at straws here. But also, logic doesn't appear to have been JF strong point so far.

fruitstick · 02/11/2011 10:13

(actually this is shotinfoot, I've changed my name back again)

Blush
AKMD · 02/11/2011 10:18

When Matthew first arrived injured, he was taken to the hospital. He moved into Downton once he had healed sufficiently to not need acute medical care as DA was taking on the soldiers who didn't need to be in hospital anymore but still needed time to adjust under medical supervision.

diddl · 02/11/2011 10:21

Perhaps Lavinia only has her father?

If it´s swine flu, maybe they had to be buried immediately?

Not transported?

But neither M nor M look particulary said if it´s either Cora or Lavinia tbh!

AKMD · 02/11/2011 10:24

Course not, they should be delighted either way Wine
