I am counting down to Sunday where they show Harry looking over the edge of the building at a nasty car crash below and Lucas legging it down the stairwell

Backinthebox- I might, but then I would have to kill you

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 24/10/2011 22:22

Thank-you for the further info, Backinthebox. Tbh, I think MN could have done a much better job of writing this final episode, judging by the expertise on this thread. My ending wouldn't have included Dimitri getting nekkid - oh no. Grin

AblativeAbsolute · 24/10/2011 22:32

I think the first couple of series with Matthew MacFadyen were the best. The ones where there were actually quite interesting themes about who you can tell about being a spy, and what the impact on your personal life might be. And where some of the plots were reasonably plausible, instead of posing a DIRE THREAT TO HUMANITY every sodding week. (Still love Spooks, though, naturally. But only really because of Harry and Ruth in the last couple of series. Swishy was exceptionally annoying (and very breathy). And the fact that she called Dimitri 'D' kept reminding of me Dudley Dursley being called 'Big D' in Harry Potter. Not a flattering comparison.)

Abra1d · 25/10/2011 09:46

Agree, Abab. It had more depth.

NewChoos · 25/10/2011 10:05

We've got the last 5 series on dvd
Agree Adam/Ros were the best episodes although I did like very much Danny and Zoe. I could not stand Toms's girlfriend who's in the BT adverts now and she quite spoilt my enjoyment of 2 series Grin

Beryl = I think Tariq saw it was the woman linked to the CIA that took the briefcase?

NinkyNonker · 25/10/2011 11:20

Even DH shed a sly tear at the end of this, and then told me on waking in the morning that he was sure they could have saved both Elena and Ruth because the timings were too short. Grin

Why did Erin never tie her hai back though? I mean, mine bugs me on a day to day basis and I am not running around shooting people. And why would you wear heels in a job like that?

TheSmallBloodiedFingerPrint · 25/10/2011 11:24

I can forgive lack of depth when I have <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=Lucas+north+swimming+pool&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=872&tbm=isch&tbnid=awiMMKeW-qa7CM:&imgrefurl=allthingsrarmitage.blogspot.com/2010/01/lucas-north-survival-kituntil-series-9.html&docid=XMRKytgtvS9yDM&imgurl=4.bp.blogspot.com/_Cz7KMKqziYk/S0du_z_rsnI/AAAAAAAABAQ/lZLkaOuOQBc/s640/CMCapture7.jpg&w=511&h=577&ei=EI6mTrnSJoWB8gOLo_ylDw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1157&vpy=513&dur=32&hovh=239&hovw=211&tx=129&ty=213&sig=105946336311868186219&page=2&tbnh=161&tbnw=143&start=34&ndsp=33&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:34" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">wet jeans on Lucas to distract me. This series, meh, nothing I tell ye!

AblativeAbsolute · 25/10/2011 13:24

NewChoos I agree that Tom's girlfriend was annoying, but I just really liked the fact that they still behaved like real people (with normal girlfriends/flats/clothes etc) instead of all being super-glamorous and James Bond-y (particularly amusing when Swishy is trying to tail people incognito through the arse-end of London - yeah, she really blends in...).

NinkyNonker agree about the heels, too. Did you watch the last ridiculous series of Torchwood? That bloody Esther with her bloody ludicrous high heels. Put some sensible shoes on, woman!!

Incidentally, my favourite Spooks episode/moment was the one early on where they had to break into a house without leaving a trace, and one of them let the cat out in the rain by mistake, and they had to hairdry it Grin. It's the realistic/fun little details like that that they just abandoned a few series ago. Plus I always really missed Malcolm and Colin.

diddl · 25/10/2011 14:28

Alice Krige is an odd looking woman isn´t she?

Can´t help thinking of her as "Baglady" in Waking the Dead.

They should have sent the new geek guy (name blank) in instead. More of a par

NewChoos · 25/10/2011 15:45

Totally agree re Dimitri and the sister lequeen in fact I may have uncharitably pointed this out post episode.

Ablative am still a bit traumatised about poor Colin :(

CaptainNancy · 25/10/2011 16:30

What I don't understand is why Nightingale suddenly went silent and didn't plan any worldwide terror incidents during this series? Confused

Why spend a whole series building up a plot device such as them, and then never use it again?

Such a shame about Ruth though... but I didn't realise Suffolk had cliffs like that anywhere.

We too spent almost the whole episode saying- 'tie your hair back silly lady' and 'why on earth weren't they wearing gloves when they busted Harry out from the CIA cars?' Hmm

TheSmallBloodiedFingerPrint · 25/10/2011 16:40

Good point CaptainNancy, wtf happened to the world takeover from Nightingale?

TheSmallBloodiedFingerPrint · 25/10/2011 16:40

I think we should post this thread to the writers so they can learn from their mistakes and our fantastic observation skills.

Notquitegrownup · 25/10/2011 17:04

Thought they already read it. Someone on a Spooks thread yonks ago said that her brother was on the writing team, and that they were aware of discussions . . . .
