Sorry-was joking. I live in Edinburgh! Grin

expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 19:19

Just be glad you could get off the bus and live somewhere else Wink.

K999 · 17/05/2011 19:20

Fanjo it's not the no 3 or 33 is it? Grin

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:20

Yes I had a colleague who over in muirhouse, left when a guy got attacked by a baseball bat right beside her in the street. Another colleague has just left gilmerton tower block due to people constantly partying and starting fires every week.

TheCrackFox · 17/05/2011 19:20

The no49 is particularly illuminating for the amount of conversations barked down a mobile phone - I have overheard neds talking about drug dealing, court cases, dog fighting, evil (?) social workers. Apparently it is always someone elses fault.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:21

K999, no, a 30

expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 19:21

Ever had to go to the DVLA in Embra? Shoot for a summertime appointment if you have to go in the evening so it's still light out when you burn rubber getting out of there :o.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:21

Yes my friend and I call the 49 the ned bus

expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 19:22

And the no. 49 is that awful single-decker that's always stowed to the gunners so you can hear everything. I used to take it to Duke Street and that was enough for me without going to the The Jewel (my arse).

expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 19:24

'Yes I had a colleague who over in muirhouse, left when a guy got attacked by a baseball bat right beside her in the street.'

The final straw for us is when I went to do the washing up, looked out the kitchen window and saw the tenants in the stair across shooting up in their living room.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:24

Also , I have only once been to 'burdiehoose' in my life..and someone threatened to beat me up

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:24

*lived in muirhouse I meant

NettoSuperstar · 17/05/2011 19:24

I live next to a pretty rough scheme, my friend lives there.

I see the people from there all the time, as the bus I use goes through there, and of course not everyone is like that, but it isn't unusual.

In saying that, when DD was small, and I was struggling on the bus with a baby/buggy/shopping, someone would always help and made sure I had a seat, even if they were stinking of drink, or off to the chemist for their methadone.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:25

Edinburgh is a shit hole with a few nice bits

TheCrackFox · 17/05/2011 19:25

I have often though, whilst sitting on the No49, that if I had a bolt gun I could sort out a lot of Edinburgh's social problems.

Honestly, I am normally so left wing but that bus route brings out my darkside.

I have just booked driving lessons as that bloody route has driven me half insane. It is full of neds or people who so not understand the concept of soap and water.

Really scary people always seem to get on at Duke Street.

K999 · 17/05/2011 19:25

I have relatives who live in Niddrie, Magdalene and Bingham. They're actually not too bad as schemes go.

BelovedCunt · 17/05/2011 19:27

i love the 49, pure dead class it is

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:27

Expat, I am glad I can get off the bus, used to live in a really flat in gorgie and life was made miserable by neds/junkies so now we are in a tiny flat elsewhere

BelovedCunt · 17/05/2011 19:27

arf @ duke street

expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 19:28

'I have often though, whilst sitting on the No49, that if I had a bolt gun I could sort out a lot of Edinburgh's social problems.

Oh, having lived in these places made me have dreams about my 9mm.

I am completely out of sympathy for living around anyone who won't STFU, no matter what their problems. Honestly couldn't care less if they're on drugs, drunk, had a bad upbringing, whatever, shut up.

Sit the practical at the Joppa test centre.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:28

The no 14 bus is classy too..I am a 23 kind of lady Wink

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 17/05/2011 19:29

My iPad keeps dropping words, I typed 'a nice flat in gorgie'

expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 19:29

'I have relatives who live in Niddrie, Magdalene and Bingham. They're actually not too bad as schemes go.'

We have a good mate in Magdalene. Except for that guy who just got done for murder there, it's not that awful, IME. His maisonette is haunted, though Wink.

BelovedCunt · 17/05/2011 19:30

bet you don't take your ipad on teh no. 49.

niddrie is pretty posh these days!

expatinscotland · 17/05/2011 19:30

I used to use the 14 in summer sometimes, but I always sat on the bottom deck or moved to the bottom deck once all the non-neds started to get off.
