Do we have any Angel fans on MN?

I was just thinking to myself that it's been a while since I last watched my Angel dvds,then realised that it's almost,a week to go,two years since Andy Hallett aka Lorne,died.

So I'm going to have an Angel Marathon next week,in memory of him.Lorne was always my favourite character.

I'd love to hear from other Angel fans. I'm sure there's a few of us out there. Who were your favourite characters,favourite villains,What were your favourite quotes and episodes etc?

I only really watched the ones where Faith made an appearance lol!

Hello - I will come out of the closet. I can honestly say that when I was first diagnosed with lymphoma watching my Angel DVDs actually saved my sanity. I just completely lost myself in another world, loved the stories, the humour, that unearthly cello music.

So that's it - in honour of Lorne I am going to rewatch Series 5 - starting with Convinction.

I had so many fav characters but it slowly switched from Angel to Spike - who is hilarious. I must watch again for episode and quotes....

I loved Lorne. He was so cool.
I loved it up till Cordelia's unravelling storyline- her disappearance and pregnancy with Angel's son just killed it for me. I thought her and Angel were just the best couple and were crushed that the writers scrapped the storyline because they wanted to sideline the actress.

Lorne was cool!

Our favourite is the puppet one just cos the puppet is fantastic, otherwise I like Spike returning.

Oh & the girls that go 'ahhh Angel ahhh'

Faith always annoyed me in Buffy,But she grew on me in Angel. Connor on the other hand is possibly the most annoying tv character ever created, since Barney the purple dinosaur.

Glad to see we have a few other Angel fans here.

Smile Time was a great episode.I also loved Life of The Party,Spike returning,actually any episode with Spike,he's my second favourite character,and the Pylea episodes.

Lorne had one of the best intros ever. When the episode began it was like, ok green demon,scary green demon,evil scary green demon,and now karaoke singing green demon,WTF?

As for quotes this whole scene has to be one of the classics.

'Spike: [as Rachel] How can I thank you, you mysterious black-clad hunk of a night thing?
Spike: [as Angel] No need, little lady, your tears of gratitude are enough for me. You see, I was once a badass vampire, but love and a pesky curse defanged me. And now, I'm just a big, fluffy puppy with bad teeth. No, not the hair. Never the hair.
Spike: [as Rachel] But there must be some way I can show my appreciation?
Spike: [as Angel] No, helping those in need's my job, and workin' up a load of sexual tension and prancing away like a magnificent poof is truly thanks enough.
Spike: [as Rachel] I understand. I have a nephew who's gay, so...
[gasps]
Spike: [as Angel] Say no more. Evil's still afoot. And I'm almost out of that nancy-boy hair-gel I like so much. Quickly, to the Angel-mobile, away.'

Another Buffy/Angel fan here and another one who had a bit of a thing for Spike so was very glad when he transitioned over to Angel. I just loved some of the scenes that Spike and Angel had together they were always hilarious.

I particularly liked the Italy episode and remember crying with laughter at Angel's leather jacket that he was given.

Maybe I ought to dig out the DVDs and remind myself of it all. I've moved onto True Blood, Twilight anf Vampire Diaries but I think Buffy and Angel are still the best .

RIP Andy he was great as Lorne.

I never really got over what happened to Fred.

I actually find myself thinking about it sometimes and feeling sad all over again.

There are big chunks of Angel I missed though (was always more of a Buffy fan). What happened with Faith? I missed most of the stuff with Connor and Cordelia going different too.

Be glad you missed the Connor/Cordelia stuff it was the loew point of the series . As for Faith she reappeared in the Buffy Season 8 comics working with Giles to bring down a bad slayer.

Thanks for that. I won't revisit those bits then.

I must catch up with season 8 - I got the first one and then no more.

I loved the spike on the rooftop scene watching angel

Clearly the best Angel episodes are

1. The one where he becomes human and he and Buffy are together, but then he has to go back

1. Through the Looking Glass, where Joss Whedon cameos as Numfar doing the Dance of Joy

What happened to Fred? I loved her with Gunn and hated the way their relationship ended and kind of lost track of all of them after their took over the law firm.
I missed all the Spike episodes which is a shame as Spike was always my favourite. I seem to remember watching the last 10 mns of the last ever episode and thought it was very bizarre though.

I did get to see the episode where Cordy comes back to help on a case and Angel realises at the end that she's actually dead and it was her ghost the whole time. That made me cry.

I loved Angel. Had a thing for Wesley in later series - not in Buffy.

i love angel! and buffy. also have them all on dvd.
my obsession goes as far to have the comics of angel as it continues the story after the big fight at the end of season 5.
totally agree with Stangirl, Wesley got hotter after the whole going dark after stealing connor.

agree first series hilight was when he gets the ring and becomes human the happiness then the despair at it not being long enough and Angel of course remembers when Buffy visits the next day.

I love the Pylea and the Groosalugg he was yummy too..

agree with comments about Connor but he was redeemed in the final season.

I didn`t know about Lorne sad RIP...

I also agree with the final season and Wesley becoming grrrr me and DP love it when he shot the man as he wasn`t working on Freds cure.

We also like the party espisode when Gunn piddles in Angels Office marking his territory. He also redeems himself but get killed every day...

I cried buckets when Illyria turned into Fred...

Final great line had to be I always wanted to fight a Dragon..

Love Buffy more, but kind of loved Angel too. I always found him (Angel) a bit annoying in Buffy, but liked him much more in his own series - there seemed to be a bit more humour to the character (or directed at him by the other characters, anyway).
I did think it all went downhill with the whole Cordelia, Connor thing though.
Joss Whedon is a genius. Did anyone watch his Firefly series? Absolutely loved that too.

Never got that into angel - I think maybe it was on a bit late for me or something (i like an early night). Should I order the boxset from lovefilm? (Hard to guess what the answer will be on this thread!!!)

I love both series but think btvs series7 was a waste of time. Apart from spike angel series 5 was quite weak, too. The cast changed too much. Wesley was the only character still alive by the end ffs! I like happy endings. They should never have killed off fred or cordy. And as a feminist im a bit pissed off that it seemed like they sacked her for getting pregnant. I thought connor was quite cute but a bit mopey and annoying. I liked him and cordy getting together (angel belongs with buffy) but then it was just a one night stand!

It was.And he was only 33 when he died. I remember when the actor who played Doyle died,he was young too, 32 I think,though he overdosed.

And yes you should definitely get the boxsets.

I hated the Ilyria storyline.I loved Fred,why couldn't she have stayed as Fred? Ilyria was not a very likable character imho.
