Children's programmes you watched that you think it's a shame your children don't get to watch

Children's TV just doesn't seem to be as good (possible that this is because I'm not a child anymore but I mostly think it's because it simply isn't!)

I was thinking through this today the BBC seemed to have loads of children's dramas on that were just amazing and I can't think of any today. I for one loved (to name a few) Box of Delights, Moondial and The December Rose.

Programmes I think it a shame they don't do anymore would include Gruey, Jim'll Fix It, Really Wild Show and Why Don't You.

(In reality my question in the subject is just a long winded way of asking what programmes you likes as a child)

Im loving reading this thread!

Did anyone like 'Mud'? I thought it was brilliant. The old woman in the sweetshop turned out to be evil Grin It was a group of kids on some sort of trip, and the little girl in it (Brooke something - was on 'enders for a bit I think) carried a teddy around with her.

Also loved Count Duckula

Love this thread. The Secret Garden is available on DVD btw (the 70s one) but I'd love to see more.
It is SUCH a shame the BBC don't make decent kid's drama anymore, for me that was the way I got into loads of books considered 'Children's classics' Heidi, The Diddakoi, the Secret Garden etc. There must be some MNetters who work for CBBC on here, no???

Murun Buchstansangur was rather brilliant Grin

feedtheghoul · 21/10/2011 22:48

Ds does watch half the stuff I did as a child.

Our local library has a great stash of old dvds. We have Dogtanian and Dangermouse this week.

The council passed withdrawal of funds this week though so sadly don't know how much longer it will last.

SleepyFergus · 21/10/2011 23:07

I did love Heidi, the girl in tbe wheelchairs stepmom was a right cow though!

And The Little House on the Prairie, magic! The opening scene where Laura falls down, everytime! But it freaked me out when her older sister woke up blind one day, just out the blue. She was always reading books prior to that. Made me worry that if I read too much, that it might happen to me too!

Kids from Fame - have the cd too!

PigeonPair · 22/10/2011 20:25

Dramarama, Choccy!

25kilopumpkin · 22/10/2011 22:44

Is Justin gay? Not bothered just curious, saw him on BBC breakfast and he seemed a bit distant so I youtubed him and caught a "live" performance; I'm not sure he is as nice as he seems! He keeps kids happy everywhere so I'm v glad he exists but, but,but I am no longer v sure about him? He seemed somewhat irritated? Will he turn out to hare kids etc?

25kilopumpkin · 22/10/2011 22:46

Sorry got threads mixed up on phone! I recently bought ton of retro DVDs for dc they thought danger mouse, flumps were crap but enjoyed Hong Kong Phooey and Thundercats
