yup... my hearts in my mouth I'm so nervous for them - especially Ashley, I'd like to adopt him!

bluebump · 27/01/2011 21:00

Me too, I love this programme.

RoyalWelsh · 27/01/2011 22:09

Me too! But if Michel Roux wasn't available, James would do...

ppeatfruit · 28/01/2011 09:34

Did you see it last night? OMG i cried when the chef in that FANCY SHMANCY paris rest. made an expesso for the little brit girl at the pass !! I LOVE Michel as well

CarmelitaMiggs · 28/01/2011 09:48

I've always loved the manly way MR says 'dul ish us'

I didn't see last night but have been hoovered into this show. Having said that I wouldn't want Ashley making conversation over the cheeseboard: 'Hiya! Alright?' (And then knocking most of it onto the carpet)

ppeatfruit · 28/01/2011 09:54

carmel i think they repeat on BBC 3 or 4. Funny about Ashley he was so out of his comfort zone as Maitre D' bless him he JUST kept it together!!

greentig3r · 28/01/2011 10:01

Oh yes, Michel is lovely. He runs marathons.

I dreamt about him the night before last. He was leading some kind of craft group where we all sat in a circle in a function room of a hotel which was also a haunted hospital.

Technoprisoners · 28/01/2011 12:16

That chef in the restaurant last night was jaw-droppingly gorgeous, in looks and manner, n'est-ce pas?

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/01/2011 12:19

the chef last night was so sweet and smiley ! love Michel- he really seems to care about his protegees

FelicityParpworth · 28/01/2011 13:02

Back off bitches. Michel is mine Grin
I told MIL this morning I may be leaving dh for him. She said it was fine as long as she got free food, she loves him too Smile

Nikita gets to me, she gives off the attitude but clearly has absolutely no sense of self worth and can be so sweet when she forgets about the attitude and seems constantly surprised when she does well. She needs a giant hug and a kick up the arse - maybe all at once.

ppeatfruit · 28/01/2011 14:33

Did anyone else notice Michel's wife last night? sob, but she looked refreshingly normal Envy Agree about Nikita, but we're maybe forgetting how young she and Ashley are.

SatinandTat · 28/01/2011 15:06

I thought Michel's mother was so elegant - we worked out she must be in her late sixties. She looked fabulous.

LetThereBeRock · 28/01/2011 15:14

Who's the guy/waiter/manager who was singing I Say A Little Prayer,last night?

Punkatheart · 28/01/2011 16:22

ppeatfruit - I thought exactly the same thing - she looked intelligent and down to earth. I always admire men who don't go the obvious bimbo route.

He is such a lovely chap, isn't he? Who knew? Because the elder Roux - well he just isn't. I lived in Bray, so I know!

But yes, I was talking to my OH about how lovely he is (Roux, not OH) but my OH is also half French - he never bites at such things.....

HeroShrew · 28/01/2011 16:26

you don't think he's a little bit ratty looking?

Punkatheart · 28/01/2011 16:30

But I like Robert Carlyle too - and he is positively rodent. So maybe ratty men are my thing - although my OH is not rat-like at all. Rats are intelligent and cunning....

SlowComfortableShrew · 28/01/2011 18:25

Michel's mother must have had some work done, non? He is 50 and she nearly looks younger than his wife.

inkyfingers · 28/01/2011 18:45

am on only one who thought service at that restaurant looked so hard?!! The slicing up/performing/mincing round the room, remembering the French. No slapping food in front of people and hoovering up the tips like when I did the job!

MrsChemist · 28/01/2011 21:11

I'm really enjoying this series. It's reminding me of the good things about my old job.

I asked my mum today if the service in Michael Roux's restaurant was good. She said it was nothing special Grin

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2011 10:57

Oui slowcomfortable Michel's mum did not look "natural" like his wife. inkyfingers the premise of the programme is the 'problem we have with 'waiting'!!

EarthMotherImNot · 29/01/2011 11:02

I adore this programmeGrin and Michel is delectableGrin

I do wonder what became of the young lad who got kicked off in the first couple of shows.
I felt partly sorry for himSad

OracleInaCoracle · 29/01/2011 11:08

I love this, its so good to see a programme of this type that focuses on how hard it is Front of House and the different types of service. tell you what though, the blonde girl would've had a bollocking from me about her hair before now and the girls wouldnt have got a second chance with the shoes!

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2011 12:02

I totally agree lissielou. IMO high shoes and a job standing and walking all day do not go together!! The pain Shock But then i'm old Grin

OracleInaCoracle · 29/01/2011 12:06

its the danger! one of my waitresses wore high heels to work, I started after her and had already sent her home on previous shifts for dressing inappropriately. she slipped coming out of the kitchen, broke her ankle and damamged her hip/lower back. tried to sue the restaurant but luckily all her H&S/COSHH files were up to date so she failed. some people think its a piece of piss, and it isnt.

SatinandTat · 29/01/2011 14:27

Did n't even cross my mind that his mother had had some work done but now you mention it I suppose it was obvious! We went out for dinner last night (mid range chain) and we quizzed our waiter on how many tables he had etc then left him a huge tip. This programme has definitely made me aware of how hard the job is. I want them all to win.
