boycotting the EE episode next tuesday

there was talk on the original thread of staging a boycott of eastenders next tuesday for the funeral. the thinking was that a well organised, publicised boycott would show EE how far of the mark the baby swap storyline is/was. if they wont listen to complaints from the people who pay for the bbc, maybe they will listen to a ratings drop.

Below is the letter which i have emailed to The Daily Mail and my local paper!
Dear Sir
As a mother who has suffered the loss of her eldest son at the age of two hours i am appalled and disgusted by the current storyline in Eastenders regarding Ronnie swapping her dead son with Kat's son. Any good work that could have come from the cot death storyline has been totally overshadowed by the insensitive addition of the babyswap.When Emmerdale covered Cot Death a few years ago they did it with great sensitivity. What a shame the same cannot be said for the Eastenders scriptwriters.
I belong to an online forum group for parents who have lost children. The children who have died range from mid 20's down to stillborn babies and the parents are all up in arms about it. People need to realise that bereaved mothers are not going to rush to the home of the nearest person who has had a baby son and swap children. We who have lost children in real life do not want other people's babies, we want our own much loved and wanted children back. I think the scriptwriters have shot themselves in the foot by using such sensationalist, distressing rubbish and I along with a lot of other people will not be watching Eastenders anymore

thanks lottie. I think it summed up perefctly what we are all getting upset about.

I am lucky enough to have never lost a child, but as you know, have lost pregnancies. people cant cope being around me when they are pg, its as if they will catch infertility. and when i hold a new baby, you can see them looking nervous. as if I will do something silly.

not the same but, dont want their baby. their baby doesnt have the same hair colour that i imagined mine had. or the same eyes. or the same smile.

but then, we are all ticking time bombs driven by our ovaries!

I can't bring myself to watch it anymore and that's speaking as someone that's hardly missed an episode in the last 10yrs!

It is wrong on so many levels :(
