We've filled up one thread, let's see if we can get through another before the end of the series!

I was really disappointed by the show last night. I thought they all performed under par, except for Matt and Pamela who put their all into it. I don't understand why Matt isn't getting the praise he deserves. My only theory is the "Tom Chambers" effect -keep him down a bit to make him try harder and harder and eventually he'll come through. Gavin, Patsy and Ann need to go next and I think Kara and Matt should be in the final.
Scott's American Smooth was an absolute joke score-wise. How can that be a 9 when he forgot the routine, tripped up and nearly threw Natalie over his head at the end? Shocking. Craig is the only judge who scores consistently . The others pick up the nearest paddle it seems!

CaveMum · 28/11/2010 09:13

I think the props are tacky too, but sadly they are following Dancing With Stars who do the same taken to extremes!

I have a feeling that (following the Halloween night) there will be more "theme nights" a la DWTS.
The one thing I've seen on DWTS that could be interesting over here is the "mystery dance". The couple are told what style of dance their routine should be so that they can choreograph something in the week but they don't get the music until the live show starts. Each couple then has about half an hour to practice their routine to the music before performing it live.
It is to demonstrate that the Celeb can hear the beats in the music rather than relying on cues such as words or flares in the music.

Do people agree with me that Matt has to get to the final so that Aliona can throw everything at their showdance? With a trained and apparently fully fit gymnast to play with it could be lots of fun.

johnnycomelurky · 28/11/2010 10:56

I don't like the props either! Also was shocked at Scott's overmarking - he was awful!!! Natalie was literally dragging him around and it should have been a dance he was great at.

I love Matt and liked the dance but agreed it didn't look very American Smooth-like.

Really wasn't keen on Pamela's Charleston - thought it was laboured and well, annoying! I don't actually like her ever!

Yes, last night was not great all round :(

bathbuns · 28/11/2010 11:19

Is it wrong that I have a huge crush on both Kara and Artem? They are both so very gorgeous.
She is incredible, but she must have had a lot of previous training to be that polished. Not that that matters, she is a joy to watch.
I couldn't believe Pamela's lifts! She's 60!! Incredible.
Couldn't agree more that Scott shouldn't have been given two 9's.

And re my earlier comment about Robin and Aliona - it would make sense that Robin is gay but the way they were holding hands!! It wasn't platonic or 'we're best friends.' It was 'you look so hot, I want you right now.' I'm confused!!

Skillbo · 28/11/2010 14:58

I really hate the props - there was absolutely no need for that school routine thing at the start of Pamela and James... added nothing and they could have just got into it quicker! Also, didn't really like the routine and thought overmarked - I definitely saw her stumble, it must have been out of view of the judges I guess!

I want Kara and Matt in the final and Gavin or ANN (please, please, please, please) in the bottom two. I think if she was there, she'd realise she's not as great as she thinks she is and needs to up her game - I think she would go through if she was there, btw. I have to say though, she should have gone weeks ago and Jimi should still be in the competition!!

fartmeistergeneral · 28/11/2010 15:13

weird night indeed.

Gavin awful, felt for him, poor soul
Ann, unspeakable
Matt, was obviously totally taken aback by the judges' negative comments, after the crowd gave him a standing ovation
Scott, could hardly bear to watch - thought he was just going to walk off at one point
Patsy and Pamela - meh

TigersChick · 28/11/2010 15:13

I wasn't blown away by anyone's dancing last night ...
Can't believe the scores Scott got! Comparisons with DiAngelo are spot on - does anyone know/remember if he was marked down??
Kara's lack of rehearsal showed, tho I know there was nothing they could do about that.
Matt's was a little too 'contemporary' for me - tho I could appreciate the complexity and execution.

I agree about the props. A cape in the paso ... maybe something small (like the fan that Zoe Ball had in their show dance) but that's it. I'm fairly sure that a portion of the audience couldn't see Ann's 'performance' due to the iceberg ... tho I'm not sure whether I'm jealous or sympathetic WinkGrin

I think it will be Patsy and Gavin in the bottom 2 and I don't really mind which one goes ...

fartmeistergeneral · 28/11/2010 15:14

What happened with di'Angelo? I know who he is but only started watching Strictly this year.

Explain!

sharbie · 28/11/2010 15:16

yeah last nights show wasn't great.are they all getting a bit nervy now or tired or have some of the good dancers just peaked too soon.its not so good to watch now.

thenightsky · 28/11/2010 15:36

FMG... Matt DiAngelo was dancing with Flavia (think it was year before last) when he forgot what he was meant to do and just walked off and sat on the steps!

I cannot remember how close to the final it was, but probably round about quarter finals or something.

Cannot remember either if he got marked down by judges. I think he got to stay in because the public voted. He was having a 'thing' with Flavia at that time.

I'm getting far too into strictly this year - I had a very fruity dream about Anton last night.

LadyBlaBlah · 28/11/2010 18:56

It was a strange night alright

I thought Matt was very undermarked too. Although I too have been getting too into Strictly waaay too much - my dream was more Matt based last night

maxpower · 28/11/2010 19:43

How the hell has Ann survived yet another week??? Who's voting for her???

duckyfuzz · 28/11/2010 19:47

there's speculation on another forum that the judges are overmarking those who aren't getting the public vote, to try and keep them in e.g. Pamela and Scott

noddyholder · 28/11/2010 19:47

My ds is salivating at ola most off putting Grin

johnnycomelurky · 28/11/2010 19:50

Aw, I like Gavin but think he should go tonight.

Can't believe that Ann is through again - boo.

noddyholder · 28/11/2010 20:04

No patsy was my fave!!!!!!!!!!!

Snowstorm · 28/11/2010 20:08

I think I'd go with duckyfuzz's theory suggestion.

Thought Patsy was better than Gavin but guess Gavin gets a large percentage of votes regardless of his dancing.

If Gavin goes next week and Anne starts knocking out the top four ... hmmmm ... maybe the tide will turn?

pinkteddy · 28/11/2010 20:19

Lol at the movies clip - Pamela wouldn't have got into those trousers a few weeks ago! Apparently it took James blunt five attempts to film his bit.

thenightsky · 28/11/2010 21:18

Oh God... who the fuck is voting for AW???

That woman is soooo arrogant!

CaveMum · 28/11/2010 21:39

Just been looking on Twitter and see that both Erin and Camilla think Scott was overmarked last night.

Erin said that she thought Craig was the only one giving honest scores.

I'm inclined to agree that the judges are trying to keep certain people in.
