We've filled up one thread, let's see if we can get through another before the end of the series!

OP posts:

Best dance of the night by a MILE...

10,10,10,10

Skillbo · 27/11/2010 19:30

Uhm... maybe not four 10's then... Blush

CaveMum · 27/11/2010 19:30

Matt's American Smooth

Hmm, I'm a tad confused. As good as it was it seemed more like a modern contemporary dance than a ballroom dance.
The more this competition goes on the more I think it is between Matt and Kara.

OP posts:
Skillbo · 27/11/2010 19:31

Not to hog the thread, but I mean Matt and just realised that I would make a shite judge! I really thought that was good but I seemed to be watching something else...

DilysPrice · 27/11/2010 19:33

Skillbo if you were wrong then at least you had the entire studio audience to keep you company.

CaveMum · 27/11/2010 19:40

Pamela's Charleston

Definitely the best dance of the night.
That was everything a Charleston should be: fun, quirky and cheeky.

If I'm honest, most of the couples have disappointed me tonight.

Gavin and Patsy are in a perilous position tonight, though of course Ann should go.

DilysPrice · 27/11/2010 19:43

Weird week. Kara was sub par, Scott screwed up, Gav was disastrous, Matt went down badly with the judges. Anne got put early in the running because she was not the most funniest routine.
Patsy to go, do we think?

nymphadora · 27/11/2010 19:47

Patsy & Gavin in bottom 2

tribpot · 27/11/2010 19:50

I thought Matt's dance would be higher marked than it was. All in all, a bit of a disappointing week but they happen. Ann particularly appalling, even by her own standards. Please British public, enough is enough.

oxocube · 27/11/2010 19:59

Am so fed up with the judges' marking. I can understand to a small extent why public votes keep in dreadful dancers like Ann because they also vote for entertainment as well as dancing talent. But for goodness sake, the studio judges are supposed to vote as professionals on the dances themselves and to give Ann 5's is a farce. Craig is the only one with any integrity here. I honestly feel its an insult to the celebrity dancers who are trying so hard and training incredibly long hours.

Am hoping Ann Widdecombe's horribly little speech about being "in it to win it" will dissuade people from voting for her.

Angry Angry

DilysPrice · 27/11/2010 20:11

Aargh I've just realised I said "most funniest" I swear that that was the result of garbled mid-sentence editing, not illiteracy.
(normally I have no patience with people who scamper back to correct typos when it's perfectly obvious what they meant, but that was particularly shameful).

Brasso4 · 27/11/2010 20:12

Not the best show tonight. I thought Pamela's dance was the best but did not think it was perfect - I thought she nearly fell over at one point (perhaps that was the dance though). Not sure why Scott's marks were so high - he practically did a Di Angelo.

LoveTheCarbs · 27/11/2010 20:21

A totally weird week but I thought that last weekend as well!

I thought:
Kara's jive dress was lovely! The routine was good but she didn't seem as carefree and loving it as Scott a few weeks ago.

I'm sorry but I though Ann and Anton's routine was quite entertaining. They are actually growing on me. Sorry. Blush Not that I am voting for them, I still don't know anyone who is..

Patsy - I didn't think it was very good and I don't think the music they chose really helped paint the picture and mood of the dance. And I thought Tina's was much better and that was a few weeks ago.

Scott - OMG. A bit car crash. He went wrong and you could see the panic in his face and Natalie's where she was trying to steer him in the right direction. He looks absolutely knackered!

Gavin- really not very good, was it?

Matt - I really enjoyed it. My favourite dance of the night. I thought Aliona's dress looked lovely as she was dancing. After the judges' comments I had to watch it a second time to see if I had been watching a different dance! I could kind of see what they meant, for example, his face didn't look that relaxed at times, but I still really enjoyed it. I love that song as well and I think that really helps to sell a dance. The judges just didn't like the routine.

Pamela - just don't get it. I'm not sure the Charleston is the dance for me.

In the end I voted for Matt and Kara.

I think that Gavin, Patsy and Ann could all be on the line to go.. Patsy, maybe?

Snowstorm · 27/11/2010 20:24

We were absolutely gobsmacked that Scott got two 9's when he clearly lost his way and turned his dance into car crash TV ... it makes a mockery of the judges scores to award him that. In saying that ... poor bloke. In an ideal world he'll have 48 hours to sleep. If he's like that in the dance studio then I hope to god he isn't driving at the moment - scary.

Presuming that Anne will stay in, yes, think it will be Patsy or Gavin to go this week.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/11/2010 20:30

I cannot believe Alesha gave Scott a higher mark than Matt! Fine she may not have liked Matt's dance, but at least he didn't stumble through it making tons of mistakes.

She annoys me more and more as the weeks go on.

Skillbo - I loved Matt's dance too. I thought the routine was really imaginative and different and he danced it so well. We were clearly watching the same thing :)

MrsKitty · 27/11/2010 22:05

Why on earth did Scott get two 9's? The judges seem to be marking him because they like him, rather than on his actually dance.

I also really enjoyed Matt & Aliona tonight, Skillbo & Alibaba. Seemed like the judges didn't 'get' it though. I thought it was obvious that the 'strained' face was (mostly) part of the storyline/acting. Would never have recognised it as an American Smooth though.

Hoping, like oxocube, that Ann's arrogance and smuggery will catch up with her this week, and land her in the bottom two, however I fear that Anton has a pretty strong fan-base and came across quite well this week, which will probably earn them some more votes. Hmm.

Whilst I think most peoples predictions of Gav/Patsy in the bottom two are probably correct, I also think that Scott might hit a spot of bother this week. To be honest, I wouldn't be overly bothered if he went - I just can't take to him.

Kara has surpassed Matt as my favourite Smile, but that may be mostly due to the fact that Aliona irritates me so much.

I liked Matt too. Was totally shocked when Scott got those 9s. I find myself agreeing with Craig's scores.

Totally fed up with Anne now. I don't warm to Kara, but she's good at dancing.

I'm worried I have a crush on Matt. I thought it was really sweet in training, when he said don't swear in my face. An old fashioned gent...sigh.

No, no, noooo, Prolesworth. Don't say such horrific things! Shock.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 27/11/2010 22:48

I think Matt's wasted on Aliona; sometimes her routines seem calculated to show her off rather than him. Why can't Christina get given a decent partner? I'd love to see her have a long run, think she's generous and lovely (sigh).

I also think Kara's the best - not sure if I like her so I've resisted admitting it so far, but tonight I thought she was on fire at the beginning if her jive - could have passed (in my eyes) for a professional, until it sort of seemed to peter out. I agree she's scandalously undermarked, though.

Pamela- I thought she'd stumbled also, and, while it was entertaining and had a lot of charm, it did feel kind of forced as well as clunky - not worth 10 by any stretch.

And what's with all the props and scenery? It's becoming more like a Broadway show each week - are we too stupid to watch an actual dance show?

Disappointing week. Although I thought Pamela's charleston was the best dance of the night - it wasn't worth 10s imo.

Aliona is wasted on Matt, he is so good, she isn't bringing out the best in him. How can they have got rid of Lilia over her I really don't know. Len doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of her routines!

Scott's American Smooth didn't deserve 9s, he made at least 3 mistakes to my untrained eye. He looked as if he wasn't trying but he is obviously shattered.

Patsy, Gavin and Scott in danger I feel. Sadly I don't think Ann is going anywhere yet.

nymphadora · 28/11/2010 08:06

Glad someone else doesn't like the props either!

mummychicken · 28/11/2010 08:35

I think the props are really tacky aswell.

Never liked Alesha as a judge but IMO Bruno is losing crebibility with his 9 for Matt.

Can some one tell Len he DOES have numbers lower than 5!
