Why didn't she get arrested after she blew up the judge? There were hundreds of witnesses!

serenity · 10/09/2005 14:33

Yep, no problem.

tribpot · 10/09/2005 14:36

I'm going to rewatch the brothel episode of FF to check on River's ass-kicking skills. Will report back!

flamesparrow · 10/09/2005 23:14

I sat and started watching FF from the beginning today - I've forgotten oodles, so its all like new

tribpot · 11/09/2005 14:31

I rewatched it (for about the third time) not long ago, I have to pace myself by not watching too often! However, I always get to the end and think "I wonder when the next series is coming out ... " Let's hope someone recommissions it after Serenity comes out!

Tortington · 11/09/2005 14:37

what do you mean after serenity comes out - are they making a film of serentity?

serenity · 11/09/2005 14:56

Serenity is the (big screen) film of the (small screen) series Firefly. It follows on from when the series was cut, but you don't need to have watched Firefly to see Serenity iyswim. It's released at the beginning of October.

And to be really sad and fanboy Serenity is the name of Captain Mal's ship and Firefly is the type of ship it is.

lunavix · 11/09/2005 15:11

(didn't realise my thread was growing!)

My favourite season is 3, I love Oz in it he has some really funny lines. Love six too.

Sorry enid, I love buffy but there are flaws They are endearing.. but still I wake up at 3am and go 'why wasn't she arrested weekly????'

I didnt like: dawn, riley, kennedy, or the preacher guy. All yeuch esp kennedy. Although willow was very sexy in season 7

God Kennedy was a complete pain in the a*se, wasn't she? I didn't like Tara (bad acting, awful posture!) but after Kennedy showed up I found a new fondness for Tara.

Oz was brilliant, Willow should definitely have stayed hetero

custardo, when JW couldn't find any TV network to pick up FF when it was axed, he decided to make a big screen version of it (as Buffy was originally), I think partly in the hopes that some bright spark would say "Hey, that Serenity movie, wouldn't that make a great TV series?". So we live in hope that one day FF will be back on the small screen too.

This means all we sad fanboy types have to go and see Serenity at least 10 times to ensure good ticket sales

lunavix · 11/09/2005 16:02

tribpot- exactly, hated tara till kennedy came along...

haven't seen firefly or serenity must do.

Tortington · 11/09/2005 16:10

ok i watched the pilot which is called serenity - thats where i am getting confused

i agree willow should have stayed hetero and married oz and had werewitch children nooooo even better she should have ended up with xander

buffy shudda ened up with angel and cordelia should have committed suicide beucase she was distraught.

and doyle then came back becuase he has visions again and the powers that be made him come back.

serenity · 11/09/2005 16:25

I loved Doyle, and really wish they hadn't got rid of him. Sadly he could never return as the actor OD'd a few years ago

Dh says that Angel had to end as, for an immortal unchanging being, he was getting noticeably old and porky I have to say as much as I like Angel I do prefer the Buffy/Spike thing! Spike didn't need a soul to love her.

lunavix · 11/09/2005 16:28

I found the end to Buffy acceptable, although faith and the head pairing off a little tacky, and anya being the 'token' dead person....

I didn't like the end to angel. Plus was severely pissed off at the 'this is buffy' in the last episode when it was clearly another actor, plus just her voice overs from buffy!

serenity · 11/09/2005 16:35

There's a book called 'Queen of the Slayers' which carries on from where both series left off. The story is pretty good, makes me want to see it iykwim, but the writing is very sloppy. You get the impression that if there was going to be a big screen Buffy/Angel continuation this is it.

I agree that the last episode of Angel was very flat. Me and Dh looked at each other and said 'Is that it?' It was left very open.

flamesparrow · 12/09/2005 09:43

Oooh so much to say!

I didn't have much against Tara - I liked the fact that she was quiet and plain (guess it just made me feel better ). I would have picked Oz over her, but then, that's me

Kennedy needed to be shot.

Buffy/Angel pairing was way too angsty, there was always too much pain and suffering - I felt that Spike was what a relationship should be like - Highs and lows, not just a pile of whinging. I agree with the comment that Spike could love her with or without a soul too... now that seemed more like true love. Without a soul Angelus was just obsessed with her, he didn't love her.

Over Doyle. Couldn't believe it when the episode came up dedicated to his memory! I remember looking it up, and all the sites were really nice, nowhere actually said it was an OD (that I could find then), but that his family wanted the circumstances to remain private - kind of a nice way of telling you what happened, but not hurting his family any more.

Hated the random hair tossing Buffy episode of Angel. Still love the seasame street one

I'm always willing to forgive them the end of Angel - they wanted it left open so that they could continue if they got the funding etc. It wasn't a typical Joss ending - he doesn't do cliffhangers without a good reason. Every season of Buffy and Angel (except that last one) finished properly. Firefly was cancelled early, and it was obvious that it wasn't just a cliffhanger because its not his style. Yes, there are always the odd loose ends left open, but he would never have finished Season 5 buffy with her jumping off into the void... it finished with the grave. Angel didn't finish with them opening a box and not knowing what was inside - we saw Darla. I'm rambling like an obsessive now ... will go read a newspaper or something and find out about the real world.

sfxmum · 13/09/2005 09:32

morning happy to see this is stil going, been keeping an eye but unable to post.

so wish that buffy/spike thing had been different, since fool for love' i just wanted that to work, it went ok for a while then it all became weird like the different writers had very different ideas about the affair. and honestly that ep when riley came along wasjust plain annoying (apart from all the shirtless bits)

i sort of got to like tara when she stopped stuttering so uch but it was never believable there was no chemistry. and kenedy dont get me started.

i always liked cordelia but the ascention story line was odd, i know she was pregnat and but still...

liked wesley progress too

and what about jonathan how can you not like is ep (apart from riley being in it that is)

sfxmum · 13/09/2005 09:33

oh my god what happened to my spelling?!!! clearly should preview, go to go baby awake

flamesparrow · 13/09/2005 16:43

Awww poor Cordy - the storyline did go a bit nuts there.

Wesley "I am a rogue demon hunter!"

most other cast at some point or another "What's a Rogue Demon?"

LOL

Sorry... tickled my sense of humour.

Tortington · 13/09/2005 22:19

i detested tara really i just wanted to slap her

SoupDragon · 16/09/2005 18:48

I am anxiously awaiting DIsc 1 of Firefly to come through on my free DVD rental trial. It's apparently been dispatched

Hated Tara - not least because I thought her name was Terror for ages.

tribpot · 17/09/2005 17:45

Hee hee SoupDragon, I know what you mean. Weird American pronunciation of Tara. Buffy should have let her witch-hating family cart her back to the midwest and done us all a favour

Enjoy Firefly!

stephone · 18/09/2005 15:58

stephone · 18/09/2005 16:39

as anyone got the complete set on DVD ?

tribpot · 18/09/2005 17:41

Hi stephone, I have all the Buffys on DVD, and all the Angels too. I think Buffy had probably run its course by the time it finished, I mean how many apocalypses can there be?! And did anyone think it was weird that simultaneously Buffy and Angel were saving the world, only from completely different things?!
