Why didn't she get arrested after she blew up the judge? There were hundreds of witnesses!

Total Film has a DVD with it this month, with lots of upcoming film trailers on it, including

Serenity (yay!)
Harry Potter
Narnia
Brothers Grimm
King Kong
Corpse Bride

and lots of other ones that are probably good, but didn't excite me enough to register straight away!

flamesparrow · 08/09/2005 20:57

oodles of trailers here

sfxmum · 08/09/2005 20:58

hello all out and prouders.

serenity thanks for tip, had a look at trailer online, liked what i saw, also interested in checking out KK.

oh it warms my heart!
i am every so slight;ly envangelical about singing the praises of the great JW ouvre.

did any of you used to post on the boards like ATPOBTVS or the bronze beta? that was fun.
like all the over analysis thing, some of the books with essays are quite good fun some not always intentionaly so

motherinferior · 08/09/2005 20:59

Hey, a friend of mine (who gets paid to write books about Buffy) saw Serenity at a press screening last night and says it's fab.

motherinferior · 08/09/2005 20:59

I like the books.

And the fanfic.

And the slashfic.

There were some great sites like 'fists and fangs', sigh...

tribpot · 08/09/2005 21:28

From the trailer I've seen, it seems like Serenity maybe rewrites the history of Firefly a little bit, at the very least Mal goes over why they have Simon and River on board again - and River appears to have gone from gentle loon to complete Buffy-ass-kicking nutter loon, unless I am very much mistaken!

Still looking forward to it though.

flamesparrow · 08/09/2005 21:28

She did some Buffy kick assing in the series towards the end...

tribpot · 08/09/2005 21:42

She did some excellent gun fire, but not the sort of hands-on stuff of the trailer? Not a stretch to imagine she can do it, though, River is a strange one

flamesparrow · 08/09/2005 21:43

Did she not in the brothel one? Or maybe I've just seen the trailer too much

harpsichordcarrier · 08/09/2005 22:20

hmmm, shall I go and watch my Firefly dvd again to check? It's been a while. Days and days...

bettythebuilder · 08/09/2005 22:54

Nothing to add here, other than... oooh.. mn and Buffy collide. And now I'm happy. I really hoped that Buffy would end up with Spike. I know I would given half a chance!
Firefox was recommended to me by a fellow fan, but I didn't tune in before it was cancelled.
What is this serenity film all about then?

Tortington · 08/09/2005 22:59

i read this whole thread to my maniac obsessed daughter who watched every episode when repeated ont he telly and knows the words to the musical and can tell me plot lines from 1999.

i think she thinks mnet is nearly trendy now

flamesparrow · 09/09/2005 08:52

Lol!

I started watching when it first started on BBC2, and then progressed to Sky when I left home in 2000... Up until just before the end of the last season, I hadn't missed one episode - then my video messed up and didn't tape the one with everyone leaving Sunnydale because of the First. Finally got to see it a few months later.

I don't think I've ever been that dedicated to anything in my life!

sfxmum · 09/09/2005 09:21

hello ladies
well i am an old fan watched it from the start and have all the dvd books and so on. my advancing years have never been an obstacle to enjoying the show. its not for kids, its wasted on kids. the dialogue often requires you to have some pop culture knowledge completely lost on the young.
got husband onto it as well as sisters and niece/ nephew. niece now nearly 15 is complete fan watching and re watching she thinks she is starting to get more and more jokes. she also took up tae kwo do (?) bless

milkbar · 09/09/2005 09:50

I miss Buffy too... I watched it every day when I was on maternity leave four years ago - happy days. But DP banned me from watching Angel and Firefly (boooo hiss)
But - slayerette stylie I'm not going to take this TV censorship any longer, and I'm gonna get Firefly dvds and watch before going to see 'serenity'
Also, I love Spike. And Joss Whedon who I (perhaps delusionally) think I met years and years ago when he was at school in england and was a very clever american nerd-ish boy.

flamesparrow · 09/09/2005 09:53

Hmmm, I could just see what would happen if DH tried to ban me from watching something! It wouldn't be pretty, and I can guarantee that I would be the one with the remote!

milkbar · 09/09/2005 09:55

to be fair to dp I ban him from watching pointless football matches when I want to see something else. Only one tee vee : small flat etc.

flamesparrow · 09/09/2005 09:56

DH is addicted to the pc, so I get lots of tv control

serenity · 09/09/2005 09:57

I've glanced at a couple of dedicated fan sites, I used to love reading slashfic, but mainly the Angel/Xander ones because I am a sick little puppy I did join one of the american 'browncoat' firefly sites, but it's a bit pointless as they all post when I'm in bed - not much of a conversation, and they don't have the sort of debates MN have that you can read after the fact!

MI - I was going to thank you for the compliment, but then realised you weren't talking about me

serenity · 10/09/2005 13:54

OMG! I've killed a buffy thread!

Tortington · 10/09/2005 13:59

i saw serenity and 4 episodes of the series last night

its something i could live without however it was enjoyable

my daughter kept saying "OH LOOK its the priest, goddess, oh its him out of desperate housewives oh look"

i cant remember the bad priest in buffy ( series 7) so am told something to do with an eye?

oh well we had a nice girly night watching people kill each other i enjoyed it

serenity · 10/09/2005 14:09

Captain Mal was Caleb in S7, and he very helpfully popped Xander's eye out with his thumb.

Who out of Firefly was in Desperate Housewives? I never managed to watch it.

I think Joss felt so bad when FF tanked that he immediately hired a few of them for Buffy roles - the Caleb/Jasmine arcs were after FF.

Tortington · 10/09/2005 14:19

well there was an episode where the alliance had a captain on a ship and he was the husband of the Desperate housewife with those kids that run amuck.

serenity · 10/09/2005 14:24

OK, not a main person then. I don't have the urge to go and watch DH now

I'm not sure who'll be reading this custardo, so can I just say that I've found that thing I said I'd send you, and I'll post it next week.

Tortington · 10/09/2005 14:28

and will you still bring the other things to the meet and i will exchange money for them ..promise
