I'm getting ready to write a letter complaining about it before I've even seen it. Apparently it helps people whose babies don't sleep through at night

Sad about Hugo losing his job ....

tibni · 03/08/2010 21:45

poshwellies my ASD son is the same. He has learning difficulties but now will mostly stay in his room at night. He is 9 and some nights I am so tired I don't actually hear him unless he is roaming.

undercovamutha · 03/08/2010 21:45

Is there a theme running through this programme that you lose your job if you have DCs who don't sleep?

LynetteScavo · 03/08/2010 21:45

Oooh! Hugo has lost his job!

Do you think Alison is a Mumsnetter?

If I were going to employ a nanny, I would go for Sharelle over the other one.

nasdaq · 03/08/2010 21:45

I wonder if the parents really regret taking part in this show? Do they get paid to participate?

LynetteScavo · 03/08/2010 21:46

Not Alison....the mum in the Fulham looking house.

Daffodilly · 03/08/2010 21:46

Tis more like a sleep game show!

activate · 03/08/2010 21:47

It's the parents - it's always the parents

over-anxious and over-feeding

I love the fact that the twins removing dummies and bottles and moving to bed worked from day 1 (with a bit of trouble) and then ongoing

I don't like the parent in room patting and cuddling approach I think that's crueler - "what you're here and not helping me Why?"

Gigantaur · 03/08/2010 21:48

I was expecting two extremes and tbh neither is.

They are both fairly run of the mill parenting techniqes and are applied by probably a vast amount of parents without even thinking about it

pile of pooh

Poshwellies · 03/08/2010 21:48

tibni-sorry to hear you are going through the same.Ds isn't naughty one at night, but we do yearn for one night where he goes to bed at a 'normal' time and sleeps through.

I worry how he copes with school but he seems to breeze though and excels whereas we are often like zombies by midday!

PussinJimmyChoos · 03/08/2010 21:49

Farking hell...DS is 4 and still has a bottle in bed before he sleeps...he's still only small and its part of his routine and wind down - no way would I give it up unless he shows signs of not wanting it

I also go into him if he wakes in the night- they are teeny fgs! Need a cuddle from their mum!

nasdaq · 03/08/2010 21:50

That is rubbish making them spend time away from home... this is such a non event.

tibni · 03/08/2010 21:51

Oh I understand that. ds is the same, it is not about naughty or attention seeking - just being awake.

ds is always fine at school too. Its 3pm that is my killer time when I dare not sit down.

LynetteScavo · 03/08/2010 21:51

But different children ae different...you can't declare one way better on the basis on one family against another. Hardly a scientific study.

MumInBeds · 03/08/2010 21:51

Do you go in and brush his teeth after, PussinJimmyChoos or is it just water?

NanBullen · 03/08/2010 21:52

this is silly

sailorsgal · 03/08/2010 21:53

I think every child is different so don't agree with this comparing of how many hours they slept.

Poshwellies · 03/08/2010 21:53

oh ffs

marking on hours slept?

mrsjuan · 03/08/2010 21:54

bloody ridiculous

Haliborange · 03/08/2010 21:54

Puss - but you don't make him a bottle every time he wakes, whether he hungry or not, do you? I am all for cuddling kids/milk before bedtime etc, but actually it seems to me that both these sets of parents have been giving their children more than they need - a bottle, when a quick cuddle or a back rub would do - every single time for months and months. They must all (kids included) be pretty tired.

wrinklyraisin · 03/08/2010 21:54

Good grief what a pile of pap.

HumphreyCobbler · 03/08/2010 21:55

ffs

MaPrentice · 03/08/2010 21:55

as Catherine Tate's Nan character would say what a load of old shit!

AnyFucker · 03/08/2010 21:56

what a crap programme

none of it proves anything

Poshwellies · 03/08/2010 21:56

I wouldn't of been surprised to see that programme air on channel 5.
