Celebration when a daughter started their periods?

most cultures would have some ceremony - just wondered if anyone had done anything different/special for their child?

I was 10 when I started, didn't have a clue what was happening so I have made sure my dd knows, but she had that talk at school when she was 9 which I never got! My mum still won't talk about periods!!

Reading this thread I think I will treat her when she does start - new oufit or trip to the cinema perhaps.
