Is he taking them recreationally on nights out do you think? Or are you worried he’s dealing?

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 16:27

God knows maybe both 😢. Up until now I only thought he was smoking week. Now I have confronted him about the weed which I found and scales plus loads of bags. So maybe dealing pills too but haven't found them. Now wondering if he has had other drugs in my house like lSD! I have never seen it until I looked on this app they look like tattoos/stickers. So, so many stories of drugs on there wtf is happening to our kids. According to my app nearest drug supplies is 0.23miles away, 23 hour delivery 😢

That is shocking op. I am also worried as I found this app.
I have downloaded and can see nothing. How can you see what you are seeing?

It's sickening it really is.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 16:53

If you tap the 3 lines top right corner, then tap people near by it should come up with lots of people. The drug dealers normally have emoji's or will be named something like party supplies.

Could you call talk to frank or another support line? It’s worth getting some advice from professionals at this stage.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 16:55

There are group chats too with porn or people seeking sex. Also normal people too just on there.

OP posts:
GlamGiraffe · 29/10/2023 17:01

They look nothing like my prescription xanax, either branded or generic.
Capsules or pills?

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 29/10/2023 17:02

Speak to FRANK. Tell your child you will not tolerate drugs in your home particularly whilst another child resides there.
It’s a safeguarding issue. You are aware now so you have to safeguard any other minor.
I would speak to the GP urgently and request a referral to the Early Help team.
Early help can assist the whole family unit and will pinpoint the right help.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 29/10/2023 17:04

I did notice that you pay for the phone. I would get it cut off/blocked immediately. Report it as stolen.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 17:11

Thank you. Well I have looked at the drug supplies on the app and they do drug runs to different areas. I have never seen or heard of some of the drugs, the even seel these bottles that look like water, jelly babies. It is frightening.

Garry is slang for ecstasy

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 17:14

Sounds like a new type 😔

OP if there are scales and indications of drug dealing in his room he is in very hot water. Please try to help him understand the gravity of his situation, he could go to prison. Show him the sentencing guidelines for possession with intent to supply, even a class B drug, the implications are very serious

Gnomegnomegnome · 29/10/2023 17:21

If you think that he’s dealing call the police.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 17:22

He's seems to think if it's less then so many grams they won't do anything. I feel way out of my depth. I have been trying to help him get a job, get off the weed, see GP but he just goes out with his mates before I get home from work. Then stays out till late. It's going from smoking weed to this and god those what.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 17:23

And then how does help him? It would be ok if you could actually get help. My local youth support place have paused waiting lists because of the backlog.i am trying to get him on princes trust.

@Meltinthemiddle when my DS was 17, I went through a similar thing. I had no idea how to deal with it so I involved SS. It was a truly terrible time with drug deals happening though my letterbox, my DS was who knows where. I cracked down, hard. It was just me, him and his younger sibling.

SS were amazing, I can't fault them. I also got the police to put a marker on my house.

It was the worst time of my life tbh but DS engaged, he had his 18th birthday as a deadline to get a job, contribute, stay at home, quit the drugs or SS would remove him and take him to a hostel.

He quit the drugs and the 'friends', got a brilliant full time job just before he turned 18. I'm so proud of him. He had a GF and nearly broke her heart but they're still together, have bought a house.

That was seven years ago. He is now such an amazing person, has a fabulous career, he and GF are getting married next year and I'm so proud. My DSis was disgusted at me coming down hard and said I should let him just 'be' but I knew he was better than that. And he's proved it.

so pleased to hear this- we are in this situation with our teen daughter and we have involved ss and taken a v hard line. She has stepped up and realised that her life was awful- we are in earlier days than you but I am proud of her and your story makes me keep the faith
Drugs are so so easily accessible ( snapchat) in our case- and if mental health issues are involved it’s a nightmare.

Paddleboarder · 29/10/2023 17:26

Definitely get help from someone professional so that you know how to best approach this. Even if he wanted to stop dealing he might be caught up with other people who put pressure on him. Ecstasy is a class A drug, even though young people think it’s nothing and more than you might imagine have probably tried it.

Cumbrianlife · 29/10/2023 17:27

Today is the anniversary of my teenage DB's death. He was spiked in a drink with his takeaway on his way home from a night out. His so called friend thought it would be funny. He was dead within twenty minutes. It not only destroyed his life but so many others.
I could go into much more outing detail but he died because he had no tolerance. Teenagers think they're invincible and don't see the dangers of recreational drugs. MN posters often seem almost proud of what they're taking.
Do whatever it takes to get him away from that shit or it might not be just a criminal record he faces.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 17:11

That was what scousers called pills (ecstasy) in the 90s

swampusdonkus · 29/10/2023 17:50

Sorry you are going through this tough time. Just for info, there is a service run by Cardiff University called WEDINOS (if you Google that word you will find links to their website). It is a harm reduction project. You download a form from their website, get a reference number, and you can send them a sample of any street or unidentified drug and they will test it to determine its identity and composition. It is all anonymous. You send the sample off in a little plastic bag, put that and the form in an envelope and then a couple of weeks later you check their website for sample results and look for your reference number. That will match it with the result for your sample. It is a fantastic project, and is often used by parents who find unidentified pills, liquids, powders etc. it is also used by street drug users to determine the composition of their drugs before taking them in case they have been cut with something else etc). All the best.

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 18:04

Getting drugs seems to be as easy as ordering a pizza from deliveroo. They are selling drugs to our kids in our own houses. At what point do I give up him 😔 I really don't want to kick him out but I am scared for my family's safety. This isn't a world I want to be involved in. He will end up dead or in prison. He just seems to unreasonable and just different to the little boy I raised. He doesn't think he is doing anything wrong 😔

OP posts:
wishmyhousetidy · 29/10/2023 18:25

Drugs are sooo easy to get. BBC put a journalist on Snapchat and she was offered, when she asked Class A drugs within 15 minutes. Impossible for parents. If the government can’t control these sites they should shut them down. The police were pretty poor in our experience of this but Social services were good, and definitely worth speaking to

Meltinthemiddle · 29/10/2023 18:39

Will SS even be interested in him he is 19 😔
