I’m so angry. She did it a month ago but I’ve only just seen it. We have turned Off all the WiFi she is refusing to take it out I am so shocked she has done this. She has pierced her own ears before and now has 4 holes but I never thought she’d do this. I have long suspected she has aspergers as both my siblings have it. I don’t know what to do I am so upset

I’d say perfectly normal teenage stuff. I remember sneaking off with my cousin to get more piercings in my ears, my parents went nuts as they had said no when I asked. I got away with it for a while as my long hair covered it.

I’d personally calm down and talk through it with her.

Bloody hell I used to get my ears pierced whenever I wanted at her age! And I don't just mean lobes. There are much worse things she could be doing, it wasn't the best idea doing it herself though

@MadameTuffington thanks this means a lot. Stories of light at the end of the tunnel are always welcome. Yes everyone on this thread is right I have accepted it now. Not worth getting stressed about it in the great scheme of things. It was just so..unexpected and the latest in a long line of strange situations we’ve been in with her this lockdown. Onwards and upwards.

Pick your battles

My DC now 16 had a run of doing this, I also think she may have undiagnosed ASC. Apparently you can order piercing kits online.
I was equally horrified, worried about infections and if she ever know when to stop but thankfully she doesnt do it anymore.
The redeeming thing about piercings is they are invisible if an earring/ nose ring is not in place.
She also did a home tattoo on her finger at a friend's house , now that did make me cry, shes always written on her hands so at first i thought it was just pen. She admits she regrets it now but won't get it removed ( ive offered to pay) The more upset I was and the more she knew I hated it the more she did it, probably should have tried reverse psychology !
Her group of friends were all doing the same so could be peer pressure but its normal for teenagers to want to express themselves and shock parents

My 14 Yr old dd has done exactly the same thing last week! There must be something in the air. After I pointed a few bits out (she hasn't placed it very well on her nose which is giving me rage!),she went "Er, I haven't really thought this out" to which I replied "No shit sherlock" and she did have the good grace to look sheepish Grin

Its not the worse thing she could be doing so I have picked my battles and let this one slide. Her dad on other hand completely over reacted and made a idiot of himself. But, if that is her teenage rebellion I can cope with it!
