What are you getting your teens for Xmas?

Quite early but like to start early. Ds has asked for an iPhone 11 which is definitely not happening as the price is extortionate. What are you getting your teens for Xmas as I really have no clue. He has an iPhone 6s right now.

watched and it's awful but just like in the meat trade, there will always be bad sources.

You can get high welfare meat but you can't get high welfare farmed furs. Stop kidding yourself, fur farms are not ever going to be considerate of the animals in thier 'care'.

Twizzlesleepsatnight · 21/10/2019 22:36

you're buying your daughter a real fur coat? gross.

spongedog · 21/10/2019 22:42

It's the first year my DC 14 has really had a serious opinion about what they want. So I am buying an Amazon voucher and they can order all their techie, AV, computer bits to their hearts content, until the money runs out! But they are still demanding asking for a Lego Advent calendar.

TwigTheWonderKid · 21/10/2019 22:53

A coat made from the fur of actual animals who were killed just to make a coat for your daughter. Seriously?

Ohnononono · 21/10/2019 22:57

Some good ideas here, glad I found this!
DD is 14 soon and then it’s Christmas so I am fast running out of ideas. She’s not into make up, perfume or fashion (or fake fur thankfully Hmm) so it’s always tricky!

So far on her list:
Computer games (Sims 4 expansion packs, Legend of Zelda)
Books (including the new Philip Pullman)
Headphones
Harry Potter stuff
Graphics Tablet

Also tickets for a Sigrid concert but that’s a surprise 🙂

Ohnononono · 21/10/2019 22:59

PS and no I don’t know anyone who wears real fur, DD would be horrified.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 21/10/2019 23:05

I think pinkyyy is enjoying the attention this is bringing her. 🙄

Anyway, my teen will probably get:

Cash
Clothes/Trainers
Gym equipment
Aftershave
Headphones

Ohnononono · 21/10/2019 23:09

Wow, didn’t realise you could still buy items where animals Such as foxes have been skinned for fur. Thought it had all been banned like the ivory trade.
Yes SleepyKat, fur farming is banned in this country but farmed fur can still be imported. Although there is talk of a total ban.

Flossiefoo · 21/10/2019 23:12

Pinkyyy ? Real Fox ?? And you're both OK with that ?

Girliefriendlikescake · 21/10/2019 23:13

Pretty horrified that anyone would buy their dd a real fur coat. My dd would give the coat a formal burial 😢 she is vegetarian and huge animal lover.

My dd 13yo will be getting

3D puzzle (she loves a good puzzle)
Clothes
Some stranger things bits
A canvas pic of her puppy
A fleecy blanket/throw for her bed
Make up/smellies

Possibly a hair wand if my budget will stretch that far.

chocolatespiders · 21/10/2019 23:16

Hot choc maker from hotel chocolat joint for Dd - 22 and Dd - 16.
Hoping I may get a go on it too!!

user764329056 · 21/10/2019 23:19

Bloody hell, I don’t know one teenager who would want a fur coat, bizarre

Miniloso · 21/10/2019 23:28

Can the fur debate go and start a new thread?

ohmydaysagain · 21/10/2019 23:28

I have a 15 and 13 yo DS's they are having apple watches, some trainers, clothes, some aftershave and some new headphones. It gets harder every year Shock

Aprillygirl · 21/10/2019 23:40

Don't know yet but there will definitely be the usual Christmas eve present of pyjamas and there will definitely not be any fox fur fucking coats! Confused

aweedropofsancerre · 21/10/2019 23:43

my soon to be 16yr old DD told me she wasnt' bothered as she has everything! I did get her an amazon calendar last year and i kept the box for this year to fill up with bits and bobs. I will likely get her some nice underwear, jewellery and clothes, perfume

Pinkyyy · 22/10/2019 06:54

Oh for god's sake no I'm not "enjoying the attention". I didn't realise the concept of a real fur coat was so alien to some people. Yes I'm fine with it and so is she. I didn't set out to start a fur debate and I don't want to make a thread about it so let's leave it there. I know now that most people are against it, thank you.

milliefiori · 22/10/2019 15:12

@Pinkyy I hope you are not in UK. Your daughter could be in danger going out in real fur. There are some violently militant anti-fur protesters about. Seriously, reconsider unless you're in a country where it's normal attire.

Pinkyyy · 22/10/2019 15:22

I am in the UK but I've been all over the country wearing fur and never had a problem. I did once see a protest outside Harrods but I just crossed the road to avoid it as I would with any group of shouty protesters.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 22/10/2019 15:23

I didn't realise the concept of a real fur coat was so alien to some people.

How could you not know?Confused

I didn't set out to start a fur debate

I think you knew exactly what you were doing by saying 'fox fur coat'.

TeenPlusTwenties · 22/10/2019 15:27

Mon I can well believe Pinkyyy didn't realise, given her cultural background. Suggest you park the debate.

Anyone know of good sources for Divergent hoodies apart from Redbubble and TeeRepublic?

Kenworthington · 22/10/2019 15:33

Main presents- Ds(16) is getting a new carhartt bag, dd (14) is getting a cropped puffa jacket she wanted from urban outfitters.
Ds has expensive taste , but he is also working almost full time in an apprenticeship so he can buy his own fancy pants designer stuff, £200 trainers and the like.

They also have nice stuff in stockings eg ‘designer’ pants, some trendy jewellery, fancy wash stuff, new purse/wallet, I’ve also got her her own things of my stuff she pinches, like a Liz Earle cleanse and polish and a tangle teezer brush. So basically nice versions of stuff they want/need and use.

Pinkyyy · 22/10/2019 15:47

I'm afraid you're wrong @MonChatEstMagnifique and I'd like to leave it there.

Thank you @TeenPlusTwenties you're exactly right and I didn't realise.

MonChatEstMagnifique · 22/10/2019 16:22

I can well believe Pinkyyy didn't realise, given her cultural background. Suggest you park the debate.

I remember seeing pinkyyy on a previous thread about Canada Goose coats. They use fur. The subject of fur and cruelty was brought up. So pinkyyy can't say she didn't know.

Pinkyyy · 22/10/2019 17:02

@MonChatEstMagnifique you're confused. It wasn't that I didn't realise about fur. It's that I didn't realise it was so overwhelmingly hated.
