16 year old dresses like a hooker

Not all the time but when she goes to parties and clubs (for the under 18s). I have no problems with her, she's doing really well at school, her friends seem ok and we can talk openly about most things. But when she goes on a big night out, everything is on display - tight, micro-short skirts and very low-cut tops. She's got a curvaceous figure and not much is left to the imagination.

She wants my opinion on what she wears and that's great but when she showed me her latest outfit I had to be honest and I told her she didn't look her usual classy self and I was concerned that she'd be attracting the wrong sort of attention. I know she wants my approval so maybe this is enough? Or should I be firmer and not allow her out unless she covers up more?

Parent's have been disaproving of what their 16yo's wear since forever.

If it's not short skirts it'll be grunge or goth. Probably what annoys the parent most. Grin

I used to wear DMs and mini-skirts. My mother didn't like that I showed my legs. Hmm

hufflebottom · 14/02/2016 11:42

Isn't this rite of passage for teenagers?

Make up, trying out new clothes etc?

Dd (6) has started the 'but I want to wear this...' Usually something like a sleeveless dress and sandals in the middle of winter. At the mo, I can get her to change, 10 years time I will do as my dm did, advise me that as long as I went out and came back home wearing something suitable then fine.

I think I lasted about 2 months dragging clothes to a mates house to get changed before I decided that I might as well just sort myself out properly before I went out of the house.

Wow.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 14/02/2016 18:01

If I still looked like I did at 16/18/21 I would be dressed like a stripper The. Whole. Time.

And FUCK all the victim blaming on this thread. Fuck it.

merseyside · 14/02/2016 18:06

Came on to say what Hearts just said

I'd have shown EVERYTHING I had at 18 if I knew how badly south it was all going to go. Enjoy it while you've got it!

How do you train a two year old how to dress?

Mine goes everywhere dressed as Elsa and freaks out if I try to put her in jeans. It's wearing

minifingerz · 15/02/2016 09:22

You should think yourself lucky. My 16 year old dd has got 34GG boobs and wears extremely low cut tops (think 5 inches of cleavage) ALL THE TIME.

I've taken to dragging her neckline up towards her chin as she's leaving the house.

LBOCS2 · 15/02/2016 09:47

Merseyside, my 3yo DD has trained me; I don't even offer her jeans any more. Much easier!

Duckdeamon · 15/02/2016 10:02

Wow. Are people saying that if their daughters were dressed a certain way and were harassed, or sexually assaulted, it would be their fault?

Ticktacktock · 15/02/2016 20:42

Bit goady there Duck. Struck a nerve have we?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 15/02/2016 20:56

I'm jealous of all of you with fab bodies at 16/18/20. I was always white and flabby.

Maybe I'll shape up in my 40s and start wearing crop tops Smile

I dont think its duck that's being the goady one.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 15/02/2016 21:02

So we've moved on from 'hookers' to 'tarts' now?

You sound like you have a lot of love for your daughter there ticktacktock Hmm

motherinferior · 15/02/2016 21:04

God yes, I wish I'd flaunted it a bit more at 16. I wore huge jumpers, several of them at
a time.

RudeElf · 15/02/2016 21:04

Yeah i've reported ticks post twice now for its woman hating bile but its seems Hq are ok with it.

Ticktacktock · 15/02/2016 22:52

I'm reported for having an opinion am I? An opinion different to yours. What is the woman hating bile exactly?

Ticktacktock · 15/02/2016 22:54

And what word would you use instead of tart?

LilacSpunkMonkey · 15/02/2016 23:06

Well, I, personally, wouldn't need an alternative word because I wouldn't be describing my daughter in that manner.

RudeElf · 15/02/2016 23:20

^yeah that.
