Just bought the vaping version on audio ... am excited to start!! Looking to hear any success stories through Allen Carr, be it smoking, vaping, weight loss etc.

Not interested in stories where it didn't work - positives only please! Xxxx

Hey just wanted to jump on this! Ive downloaded the audio book, have about an hour left to listen to when babys in bed. Feeling like I'm not at that point of stopping and worried it's not going to work. Do you remember if you had to listen to it all for it to finally work? And should I have listened to it all in one go? X

No, I didn't read it in one go but often enough that it all stayed fresh in my mind. If I remember correctly (from all those years ago!), he does say don't expect it to necessarily work with one reading and, most surprising, you can carry on smoking while you're reading it! I think to be absolutely sure it hasn't worked,* *it's best to read it solidly over a couple of days if you can, concentrate and see if anything changes. Good luck x

I don't even know how long ago I stopped smoking was, but I did use the Allan Carr book in my arsenal. The one thing that truly helped me was the fact that even if you cut back you are still craving something that has zero benefits to you.
Also he mentioned being at his daughter's wedding and wishing that they would just get on with the service so he could have a smoke.
That was my lightbulb moment!
Anytime I was at a family do I was never truly relaxed and present because my body was saying "feed me nicotine". I realised all the non smokers weren't feeling like me to "soon I'll be able to light up". Willing things to be over!
Add in the cost, the smell, the paranoia of smelling, it dawned on me it was easier to stop than continue. You can do it, it's just the nicotine tricking you that you "need" it. X

Ps. Also forcing myself to look in a mirror when I smoked was very enlightening and depressing!

@chicaa I have listened to the alcohol book on audible recently, 20 minutes ish every day when I walk. I’ve stopped drinking now for 3 weeks. I didn’t believe it was going to work, but just thought I would give it a go and here we are. I am incredibly pleased. Have lost half a stone and my blood pressure has come down. Good luck to you.

I did find I had to concentrate on reminding myself on some of the key messages, and also think about the benefits frequently. I also thought about some of the really bad stories I know about, and reminded myself that I never want to get like that.
@chicaa are you trying to give up smoking?

Trying to give up vaping. I finished the audiobook last night and haven't vaped for around 24hr now. Been fine today, but this evening I'm very irritable and short with my poor DP, hoping it passes soon x

Ooh, good luck.
I don’t think this is an easy time of year to change habits, it’s super hot, I’m not sleeping well and lots of outdoor socialising. I haven’t been cranky but yesterday was tired, hot, we went to a local music event, and then DH spilt red wine on my white dress, converse and bag. Very very annoying.
I also found a couple of great posters on here that I found really helpful. Wonder if there is a support thread or two on here?

I'll have a look thanks. It's almost like I don't know how to deal with stressful (even very minor) situations without my vape! And feeling very emotional. No idea what is going on. Apparently it's normal when I look online but I'll give it a few days and see
