I have just made my first ever Vivienne Westwood purchases - am still floating!

Having loved Vivienne Westwood for years and never having dared to even try anything on, today I bought not one but two items! The woman is a genius! They look like nothing on the hangers, then you put them on and suddenly look two sizes smaller AND taller!

I bought this in black - or if not this then something v v similar. Dp VERY impressed with this one!

And a Red Label skirt with hitching up one side - I think this is it.

I am totally in love!

Apologies for all the !!! but I normally restrict my buys to Gap and M&S so this is very exciting for me.

I have a similar shaped skirt already (Warehouse rather than VW) and a coleague once thought I'd got it stuck in my knickers when I wore it. I love it though - it is very flattering I think.

The dress is stunning - it really does transform from a sad looking rag on the hanger to utter gorgeousness on.

Ooh I like! Bought my first VW a few weeks ago for my birthday - this one and I totally love it.

SO flattering and I think it works for winter and summer to lots of opportunities to wear it too!

janeite · 19/06/2010 15:32

Fleecy - that is gorgeous. Love the colour.

Now - what should I wear with the black dress?

Lovely

Sparkletastic · 19/06/2010 15:41

Really gorgeous am very . I always airily say I'd never buy designer even if I had the dosh as it isn't worth it but VW stuff is soooooo worth it!

janeite · 19/06/2010 15:43

I convinced dp that it was a good idea by looking at cost pair wear. I reckon I could easily wear the dress once a week and the skirt every couple of weeks, if I am brave enough to wear them for work.

they are both lovely janeite

i confess to having 3 anglomania dresses and i have worn them loads. and i did buy they in the sale. i need spanx though as they are draped to the front but clingy to the rear

i have NO other designer stuff but her dresses are so flattering for curvy gals

rookiemater · 19/06/2010 16:20

That dress is gorgeous

janeite · 19/06/2010 16:24

Thanks both.

I'm really not sure how to wear it though. Since I hate shoes and bags, my options are very limited.

I have black cone heeled DMs, grey wedges, tan wedges or ballet shoes in silver or black.

I have a red beaded evening bag, a tan Gucci handbag, a tiny black clutch bag or a grey bag.

I have a silver chain and cuff, pearls -think that's it.

And now I've spent all that money, I can't afford to buy anything!

Do you have earrings? I found I didn't need a necklace or scarf because of the draping but a lovely pair of earrings worked well.

Like the sound of silver with the black.

janeite · 19/06/2010 17:54

No earrings - I let them close up years ago.

I like silver and black - could maybe do silver cuff and grey wedges? The draping leaves quite a lot of room for a necklace on me though, so I could wear one I think.

I am so jealous!

racingheart · 19/06/2010 18:23

janeite you can't love that dress and hate shoes. take a quick look at Next online. They do the best value most comfortable high street heels. I can dance all night in their heels and my legs don't even ache the next day. £35 for some patent black slingbacks or lace peep toes.

here

janeite · 19/06/2010 18:28

Nope - am not feeling any of those shoes, sorry.

blouseenthusiast · 19/06/2010 18:34

Do you have to have a very flat tum to wear those VW dresses? They look lovely but unforgiving...

janeite · 19/06/2010 18:56

Well mine certainly isn't flat.

I looked thin in the shop but now I've got it home, I am feeling paranoid. I don't possess a mirror (except a teeny make up mirror), so I can't see what it looks like.

blouseenthusiast · 19/06/2010 19:19

Hold-you-in pants? They look like strong underwear dresses...

traceybath · 19/06/2010 19:20

Janeite - I have the same dress as Fleecy .

Love the look of yours too!

I have a spanx slip to wear under mine - just for smoothing purposes you know

janeite · 19/06/2010 19:25

I think I'll be okay with big pants. Am just a bit paranoid due to the no mirror situation. Dp and dds say it's looks nice - and dp absolutely loved it when I tried it on in store.

SixtyFootDoll · 19/06/2010 19:35

Am so
Am not a big designer fan but I love the Anglomania stuff.

janeite · 19/06/2010 20:03

I was only allowed them because they were in the sale.

Have never bought anything designer before and am usually a total cheapskate.
