What on earth do thirty-somethings wear for a night on the tiles?

Style gurus, I need help!

I'm meeting some friends for a night out in Manchester and have no clue what to wear.

I'm 34, 5'7, pale, brown bob and size 12. Tend to dress in black but don't dislike colour. Not keen on fussy.

There is an outfit out there that will make me look 5'10, size 8 and aged 24, right? Right???

So, you're young, tall and slim - oh this will be easy .

Whats your budget?

MayorNaze · 26/05/2010 21:29

nice skinny jeans and heels.

and funky top

Gigantaur · 26/05/2010 21:29

stop boasting DIB, I'm enough already.

traceybath · 26/05/2010 21:32

I'd go for a dress and heels - its summer!

DreamsInBinary · 26/05/2010 21:32

So quick off the mark!!

Like the skinnies idea, but need help with shoes.

Budget £150 ish, tracey. Including shoes, is that do-able?

Oh, should also mention god-awful untoned tum and lack of waist. Hmm.

AGree with Mayor

Skinnies top crazy heels and blazer if required

Any shoes with a decent heel with a colour theme to top/accessories

DreamsInBinary · 26/05/2010 21:36

Blazer also very appealing, thanks LadyBlaBlah. Any good ones you know of on the high street? Or online?

if you have a proper budget like that for an outfit i would get myself to a decent department store and ask for a personal shopper appointment. they're great, i hear.

traceybath · 26/05/2010 21:38

Do you like maxis?

Something like this or this with cropped denim jacket, gladiator sandals and cuff bracelet.

Or skinnies as MayorNaze suggested

LadyBlaBlah · 26/05/2010 21:41

shoes

skinnies

top

With some sort of cerise/shocking PInk accessories - bag/earrings/bangles/scarf

MayorNaze · 26/05/2010 21:43

oh yes blazer good - then you will have that whole nipped in waist thing going on

LadyBlaBlah · 26/05/2010 21:44

Top is :

traceybath · 26/05/2010 21:46

LadyBlaBlah · 26/05/2010 21:47

It is nice with skinnies and heels

BitOfFun · 26/05/2010 21:48

Like that top- I'll nab it if you don't, DIB

Bra though- hmm. How to hoik up ample bosoms?

MayorNaze · 26/05/2010 21:48

ooh likey blazer. v smart yet still cool

DreamsInBinary · 26/05/2010 21:53

Ooh, these are great - thank you!

Will def buy that blazer, try on the one-shouldered top (my norks no longer ample after dc BoF ), the skinnies and the warehouse maxi.

Not sure I can pull off the heels

traceybath · 26/05/2010 21:53

I have that blazer too LadyBla - looks so much more expensive than it is.

And agree river island definitely worth a look as is Dorothy Perkins.

Or blow whole budget on this code amex25 gets 25% off. I have that dress and its what I'd wear on a night out - tis very va va voom.

BitOfFun · 26/05/2010 21:55

No good with a bit of a tum, though, Traceybath- far too unforgiving.

LadyBlaBlah · 26/05/2010 21:56

I saw some cheaty nude bra thing on Gok yesterday

I have been meaning to google because would solve so many problems and paranoia's - it was being worn by a model

Off to search now

traceybath · 26/05/2010 21:58

BOF - thats where the spanx come in

Although it is very well cut/good heavy fabric so skims rather than clings.

DreamsInBinary · 26/05/2010 21:58

That dress is so lovely, but I'd need a year month of extreme dieting and spanx to pull it off.

I'd also have to go barefoot
