Do you like? Good value? Would you like to receive one?

Can't decide.....need present ideas for 31yr old mate...

I got one for my 40th...I like it plain actually wihout all the dangly bits on it. I wont fill it up with charms. I like the brown leather bracelets with the silver clasp too

backtotalkaboutthis · 14/05/2010 16:38

Love to get one, a real one, but they're damned overpriced. You are a generous friend. Unless you just get a couple of beads and they add more.

BigBadMummy · 14/05/2010 16:39

I got a Pandora bracelet from my ILs for my 40th and I adore it.

I only have a few beads on it and never take it off.

I had the Links Sweetie bracelet with a charm on but everybody seems to have those so I got rid

mistressploppy · 14/05/2010 16:40

Was thinking of bracelet, a few beads. We are clubbing together (I'm not THAT generous )

Sweetie bracelet was the other idea!

I dont like the Links ones, I dont like the elasticated nature of them

ClaireDeLoon · 14/05/2010 16:42

I like them but prefer trollbeads as I think they have nicer charms.

Have looked at the Pandora charms and think they're a bit twee (the things like prams and scrolls with best friends and all that)

SuSylvester · 14/05/2010 16:44

god yes

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 14/05/2010 16:44

I can't help thinking they are knock off troll beads - what are the 'origional'? I love them anyway, as I love the links sweetie one - I didn't realise you put charms on that though. Although some relatives stocked up on sweetie-a-like knock offs at a market a few months back which has put me off LoL

FoghornLeghorn · 14/05/2010 16:50

My DH brought me one for Christmas. I only have 1 charm at the moment but I love it. Wear it all the time

grumpypants · 14/05/2010 16:54

I think - 'Links charm bracelet, how original dh, thank you.' Two yrs later. 'Oh no, everyone is wearing it, and look, Troll Beads are cute, hmmm, Now 'Pandora beads look just like troll beads and my Links bracelet, which lies, unloved, in the bottom of a drawer.' What I would really like tho is an ipod...

jenduff · 14/05/2010 17:33

I've heard people say they're common on MN but round here they're only just getting popular. DH got me one but I have only got one charm so want to get lots more before I can wear it regularly. I'm not so keen on some of the twee silver ones but I love the glass murano charms.

mangoandlime · 14/05/2010 17:43

Where's the originality in these things, eh? More a status symbol really, Everyone knows they cost a few bob, ergo they must be stylish. (I seem to be saying this a lot lately!)

I buy from artisan jewellery designers, (I also make my own for my own consumption) If you know where to look you can buy such beautiful stuff that no-one else will have. Etsy is a beginning.

nickschick · 14/05/2010 17:46

I have 2 of these bracelets .

But I do love them and the charms were all gifts.

LadyGardenia · 14/05/2010 17:54

I think this soft leather bracelet is lovely, I know that's not really an answer to your OP but just another opportunity for me to admire it.

Don't know about good value they do seem expensive and not everyone is into the charm lark.

Lauriefairycake · 14/05/2010 17:57

I have one with about 15 charms - had it a year or so. There aren't any twee 'best friends' ones with Pandora - that must be another brand.

Pandora preceded troll beads.

I've just bought the leather cord one and transferred my beads over to make my 'summer' bracelet.

mosschops30 · 14/05/2010 18:12

dh got me one after my disasterous birth with ds2. I have about 8 charms on there now and thats cost about £450, so its not cheap by any means.
I love it though, wear it every day, am going to add some coloured beads to it next. Lots of people comment on it when im wearing it

Lauriefairycake · 14/05/2010 18:14

I just realised how utterly smug and obnoxious I sounded

"summer bracelet" -ffs.

Get a fucking grip.

Earthstar · 14/05/2010 18:16

Does she wear bracelets?

I never do so I would be pretty disappointed to get one of these!

BendyBob · 14/05/2010 18:16

I used to really want one. Well a troll one, but they're so similar.

But I keep seeing so many people with them they didn't look much of an original idea after a while. Then I saw a cheapy immitation version at a craft market and I went right off them.

mosschops30 · 14/05/2010 18:18

yes but there are cheap versions of everything thats nice, but those people with a good idea will know the difference and so will you. My mum was very put out that i identidfied her cheap copy

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/05/2010 18:19

DD's mates ( about 12 of them!) all clubbed together and bought her the silver one with a beautiful green glass bead thing.
Now I want one!!

ruddynorah · 14/05/2010 18:20

the only people i know who have them/want them are 16/17 yr old girls.

mosschops30 · 14/05/2010 18:22

really a 16yr old with a £400+ bracelet??
you mean they have the cheap imitations

SuSylvester · 14/05/2010 18:28

god i LOVE that leather one
