Do you have to be uber smart? Personally I would go for skinny jeans, a funky t-shirt and a jacket with fuck off heels.

Ewe · 05/05/2010 21:05

I love this

What channel are you going to be on?

Ewe · 05/05/2010 21:14

If we're going high street...

This nice

Like this too

Cute

as is this

QSnondomicilabilis · 05/05/2010 21:38

This is very Justine

I like that it is subtle, but makes quite a statement.

faustina · 05/05/2010 21:48

that urban outfitters dress is fab - I just bought it! Thanks Ewe

EweStupidToryVoters · 05/05/2010 21:53

No problem! I love love love urban outfitters, it is on my way to and from the office which is unfortunate for my bank balance

Poledra · 05/05/2010 21:55

QS, that looks like she's wearing a set of giant stacking cups - perhaps appropriate for the public face of Mumsnet

faustina · 05/05/2010 21:56

It always seems nicer online - the choice. Maybe I get too frazzled in oxford st to appreciate it

Bonsoir · 05/05/2010 21:58

Thank Sweeedes - you are obviously une femme de goût

Did you ever tell us which channel yet, Justine? I need to see you wearing my dress...........

LittleWoodenCake · 05/05/2010 22:39
JustineMumsnetElection · 05/05/2010 22:43

ITV - I'm now thinking I'll probably be on for 30 secs and it'll be a headshot only... I'll just have time to say thanks to the S&B Mumsnetters for styling me and they'll move on to the returning officer in Chipping Sodbury.

Poledra · 05/05/2010 22:45

Crap - will need to watch in the kitchen. There is no way DH will consent to ITV Election Coverage - Channel 4, maybe but BBC is his News Channel of Choice.

And he'll laugh at me if I say I want to watch ITV to see what you are wearing.....

EweStupidToryVoters · 05/05/2010 22:55

Of course Justine, that is sods law!

BythewayItsStillMe · 05/05/2010 22:55

Lovely choice!
Fingers crossed you get sorted tomorrow! Have you got a back up dress.... just incase....
Been reading this thread all day and am a bit gutted now you've all stopped with the suggestions!

squeaver · 06/05/2010 07:45

Hurrah!

So when they ask you "do you think this really was a Mumsent election Justine?" you MUST say, "Before I answer that Alistair, I'd like you all to admire my Vivienne Westwood dress as selected by the S&B Gals".

SuSylvester · 06/05/2010 08:15

exactly
stop and say " well never mind the 'lection its all abotu ME ME ME" and flash yer tits

Yay, and well done to Ross at Harvey Nics

(see that sneaky wee advert there?)

I have sent DH off to Italy for the weekend just so I can watch TV and MN all election night. So you had better not just be on for 20 seconds.

spectacular · 06/05/2010 08:35

I am probably too late, but if you want to be taken seriously and not as the token air head then DO NOT WEAR A DRESS! When was the last time you saw a serious political commentator wearing a dress?

This is sharp Armani suit time - heels and one piece of good jewellery.

Think Stephanie Flanders - I have seen her several times at various events and she always gets the look right! Or if you can't summon up a picture of her, think Fiona Bruce.

SuSylvester · 06/05/2010 08:37

LOl at fiona bruce - queen of knitwear

OP posts:
ruddynorah · 06/05/2010 10:00

of course she can wear a dress. it's not a run of the mill newsnight or question time. it's election night. it's a bit special.

LadyGardenia · 06/05/2010 10:01

LOL at a woman must wear a suit to be taken seriously!
