What shoes to go with this dress?

I am wearing this dress for my sister's wedding in Italy in June. It is a very small wedding and I am on the large side so, although I am the bridesmaid I am not wearing a traditional bridesmaid's dress. I still want to look as fab as poss though!

I am wearing the dress with a purple organza wrap but I don't know if I want purple shoes as well - I don't really like the matchy matchy look. I would prefer to wear some neutral/nude shoes like these or these instead but am not sure if they would go.

Then there's the whole bag question.

What say ye, ladies?

Lovely dress, lovely shoes both and the wrap sounds nice. How about a metallic clutch bag? I wouldn't go brown or match the dress as it would indeed be matchy matchy.

mrsboogie · 05/04/2010 16:42

thanks - moondog would you wear those colour shoes with that dress though?

I like the Ridinah shoes on your first link.

moondog · 05/04/2010 16:48

Yes I would I think.I was thinking silver but then that is too much shiny stuff going on and also a bit Rotary Club dinner dance, yes?

BunnyLebowski · 05/04/2010 16:50

Dress is beautiful. A metallic bag is a good suggestion.

The second shoes are fine but please don't wear the first ones. You will look back at the wedding photos and cringe. Too of the moment and imo just fugly.

Will go have a mooch for you and come back.

moondog · 05/04/2010 16:53

Nowt wrong wit being of the moment. If we all dressed with the thoguht in mind of how we looked in the photos in 20 years, it would be bodystockings..

mrsboogie · 05/04/2010 16:53

thank you! take your point re the gladiators too

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 05/04/2010 16:55

yeah, I'll probably be needing the bodystocking under the dress

I love the dress and the second pair of sandles also would be tempted by one of the matching bags on the shoe website.

chandellina · 05/04/2010 20:32

i prefer the second pair too. love the dress, have fun!

finding something in the blue colour in the dress could be very cool too.

PlumSykes · 06/04/2010 09:49

these shoes could work well. I think, generally, patent would be fab with that dress.

And I wouldn't try and match the bag and shoes. A teal bag would look great though. Maybe something like this?

BunnyLebowski · 06/04/2010 15:48

these are gorgeous!

BunnyLebowski · 06/04/2010 15:50

LOVE these

These would also work really well with your dress

traumaqueen · 06/04/2010 15:54

Ye Gods, are you planning on spending the whole day sitting down? Ladies, I have long wondered how mere mortals are supposed to wear shoes that high with those huge platforms? the only people I ever see walking in them look like constipated ducks.

How how how? I am so . I could only wear them in bed.

SuSylvester · 06/04/2010 15:56

bunnys second ones are stripper shoes
no your first oens

ew ew ew

BunnyLebowski · 06/04/2010 15:59

Oh behave Su - at least I'm trying

Put your money where your mouth is and let's have some suggestions for the OP!

Fimbow · 06/04/2010 16:04

I am going to go against the grain and suggest these

flippedfrog · 06/04/2010 16:07

Nice dress.

Francagoestohollywood · 06/04/2010 16:11

I think the dress requires really simple shoes. No bows, no jewels...http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/60235 I'd look for something similar to these

mrsboogie · 06/04/2010 16:25

ohhh fab more suggestions! thank you ladies - off to look to them all now

did I see Laboutins mentioned? not a chance I'm afraid - my sister is not short of a bob or two but I can't ask for a pair of them unfortunately!

OP posts:
moondog · 06/04/2010 16:31

I've got a pair like those Louboutins (although not that price) but a bit funkier, with a platform sole and seaming at toe and not shiny. They are a bit cabin crew/ I can't remember where from.....

I got them to wear with an LK Bennett blue shift with cream Moroccan style beading around yoke
