attention 80's teenagers....need lipstick name!

HinnyPet · 20/12/2009 01:37

Pals and I were just discussing what the name of this lipstick is from the 80's.

It was pale mauvy bluey pink, frosted and made your teeth look yellow, but everybody had it.

Anybody know what the name was?

was it Rimmell or 17 or Constance Carroll?

Thanks!

It was Sugar Plum! 👍🏻💋💄

hellenbackagen · 19/03/2019 21:07

Heather shimmer or grape sorbet by rimmel !

Heather shimmer was actually ok and I'd wear that now
Grape shimmer....beautiful colour if you're teeth are pearly white! Otherwise forget it!

hellenbackagen · 19/03/2019 21:08

It's gotta be grape sorbet. Surely?

hellenbackagen · 19/03/2019 21:14

Offs zombie thread resurrection. 🤬

Ellapaella · 19/03/2019 22:31

Rimmel 'drop of sherry' and 'black cherry' were my favourites as a teen in the early 90's.
I also have fond memories of exclamation perfume, body shop Ananya and Impulse Free Spirit.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 19/03/2019 23:01

TessTickle1 Why the hell would you search for a thread from nearly ten years ago that was answered back then?

augustusglupe · 19/03/2019 23:14

Oh god this thread made me think of a lipstick I wore in the 80s and someone’s just named it... Sugar Plum!! I can’t remember who’s make it was though

BusterGonad · 20/03/2019 01:01

And why don't people read the full thread as it was Twilght Teezer about 5 posts in, and yet everyone is still banging on about Heather Shimmer and Constance effing Carol!

SapphireSeptember · 20/03/2019 01:28

Who said Cherries In The Snow is by L'Oreal? It's (quite famously) by Revlon and they've been selling it for nearly 70 years! (Not an 80s teenager, I was born in 88.)

17 were still selling Twilight Teaser a few years ago, I bought one and really liked it! There's a possibility you can find something similar in the modern shimmery duochrome lipglosses that are all the rage these days.

SapphireSeptember · 20/03/2019 01:31

And I didn't notice this was a zombie thread until I'd posted. Blush Oops!

BusterGonad · 20/03/2019 01:45

Ha ha Sapphire trust you to know all about Revlon Cheries in the snow! 😁 🍒

Amortentia · 20/03/2019 02:42

I hated heather shimmer. I used to wear coffee shimmer or black cherry, I'm super pale and both made me look like a reanimated corpse.

EnidButton · 20/03/2019 05:19

Can't believe I've still got this user name 3 years ish later. Prob time for a name change. And I was replying to you at the time Buster. I might break out the ol' Cherries in the Snow tomorrow in honour of this thread.

BusterGonad · 20/03/2019 05:30

I know Enid, and since this thread I've come across Cherries in the snow (not in the uk though). 😁

TessTickle1 · 20/03/2019 10:22

Jeez luv, what’s your problem??
Had it been answered? It wasn’t Heather Shimmer after all!
For your info, I didn’t ‘search’ for it, it came up as a google search reply from something else!!!
Does it really matter to you??
Scroll on by sweetiepie!!

Palominoo · 20/03/2019 10:44

Revlon lipsticks from the 1980s including Cherries in the Snow. I had quite a few of these lovely lipsticks..

attention 80's teenagers....need lipstick name!
BusterGonad · 20/03/2019 11:20

Palo I like that, but dare I say, I don't find them to be colour true. Fire and Ice is a red and Cherries in the Snow is a fuchsia pink red. I still like it though. Very retro! Grin

SapphireSeptember · 20/03/2019 13:14

Buster Tis true! I'm obsessed, especially with Revlon. There are so many new shiny (often overpriced) brands around, while Revlon have been quietly getting on with making lipsticks for years. I love how old some of their shades are, it's kind of nice, that there's a link to the past.

fortieswardrobe.blogspot.com/2011/12/revlon-lipstick.html

This is a bit out of date as some of these have now been discontinued, but Cherries is still going!

BusterGonad · 20/03/2019 15:29

Sapphire we are both lipstick obsessed and when ever there's a sniff of mention of Revlon I know you're not far behind! How many Revlon's do you own? They are constantly good 😊

BusterGonad · 20/03/2019 15:30

Consistently good, and I suppose constantly too!

SapphireSeptember · 20/03/2019 18:32

Buster Oh hell! 60 superlustrous creme/pearl/shine finishes, 14 matte ones, then I've got the 18 that are the new ones from the Matte is everything/Shoot the moon collections. I also have 14 (I think) of the now discontinued Colorburst lipsticks, 6 Moondrops lipsticks and 4 of the ultra HD gel lipsticks! First one I got at the end of 2009!

SapphireSeptember · 20/03/2019 18:35

Oh, and I think I have 14 of their lip crayons in various finishes as well. I can't remember exactly with some of them! Also ignoring back ups, cos then you'd have to double or quadruple some of those numbers. Blush

BusterGonad · 21/03/2019 00:37

Oh wow! You're a lipstick super hero!

EnidButton · 21/03/2019 02:49

Where do you keep them Sapphire? Is it a "random in a drawer" situation in neatly lined up in colour or number order?

Check out that white lipstick in the 80's pic!
Amazing.
