i had my first bra fitting since DS (8months ago) and am still traumatised by it!
to cut a very long story short the bra-witch refused to listen to me saying that the bra didn't feel like it fitted and i was clearly not the same size i was pre-PG.
she got shirty and told me that i had to always lift inside the bra and hoik my boobs up. (grab them and lift them into cleavage position)

WTF? is boob hoiking normal - have i been putting my bra on wrong for years????

I hoik...

Sagacious · 27/11/2009 20:25

I hoik

(am a DD and would fail the pencil test)

PrettyCandles · 27/11/2009 20:26

Yes, I always hoik.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/11/2009 20:28

I don't hoik when I put my bra on, but when you're trying new ones, to check a good fit the best way to get your boobs into position is to bend over and touch your toes.

That's what the bra fitting lady told me anyway!

mazzystartled · 27/11/2009 20:29

the alternative to hoiking is to lean forward and shake yourself in. that's what they tell you to do in John Lewis, anyway, and indeed appears to work a treat.

duckyfuzz · 27/11/2009 20:29

yes when I first put my bra on, but not regularly, a la les dawson

E too and hoiking is required.

CMOTdibbler · 27/11/2009 20:32

I thought this would be about Les Dawson style hoiking...

But yes, I hoik. It brings all the breast tissue up into your bra nicely

brimfull · 27/11/2009 20:33

of course everyone hoiks
otherwise your boobs look squashed

AboardtheAxiom · 27/11/2009 20:34

Yes, it's very depressing in reverse I find. I spend as little time as possible out of my scaffolding F cup bra. Gravity is not my friend, mine look much nicer in a bra IMO.

AngelinaJolly · 27/11/2009 20:40

I don't hoik, I lean forward and press my palms together (as in prayer position).

Oblomov · 27/11/2009 20:41

i am really sorry but what exactly is the hoiking bit ?
what do you actually do. Should I be hoiking my E cups then ?

mrsflux · 27/11/2009 20:43

I've been putting my bra on the wrong way since forever then!
I had been sort of leaning forwards to put my bra on. I have been hoiking today and find they look great fir 5 minutes then I move and the effect is lost so I don't really see the point.
I'm not a fan of hoiking.

Try the palm pressing MrsFlux- it makes your pectorals tighten thus lifting boobs to a more natural high .

CocoLP · 27/11/2009 21:09

I hoik and shake.

mrsflux · 27/11/2009 21:12

Angeilnajolly - please explain the palm pressing. I'm probably being a bit thick.

AngelinaJolly · 27/11/2009 21:22

OK, you put your palms together as if you were praying- with your fingers and palms flat together and your fingers pointing upwards, and with your elbows out to the sides (some yoga positions use this). Then you press your hands together firmly. This tenses up the pectoral muscles which sit beneath the breasts. Try it now and you should feel something working in your chest. If you do it nekkid you can see your breasts moving a bit.
Anyway if you do this pressing together action when leaning forward slightly in your bra it just puts your breasts in the right position naturally.
Honest! Try it!

Ronaldinhio · 27/11/2009 21:24

i need to hoik or I would be wearing breast loafers

i would also fail a pencilcase test

YanknCock · 27/11/2009 21:26

Another hoiker and shaker here.

OrmIrian · 27/11/2009 21:28

I hoik.

But only since MN told me to.

Feel better for it too.

Cheappinkfizz · 27/11/2009 21:34

oh god do I hoik, but I'm a FF, wouldn't get my bra on otherwise!

Botbot · 27/11/2009 21:37

I was instructed to hoik by the M&S bra-fitting lady. It changed my life.

champagnesupernova · 27/11/2009 21:45

No, I lean down and put 'em in the right place.

wuglet · 27/11/2009 21:48

I hoik or wiggle depending on mood.
