I've found it - the school run dress for autumn winter 09

the holy grail. Perfect for school run then on to lunch with friend?

I've just ordered mine and I intend to wear it over jeans and converse sometimes or with black Hobbs boots with coloured opaque tights.

I suspect it will look okay over turtle neck thin jewel coloured top as well?

Please don't let it be crap as I love everything about it, especially the price.

BKW - I bought this dress too, but wondered if the colour was too spring/summerish??? - would you wear it with black or brown tights/boots?

Also do you think a black long sleeved t underneath would look ok/weird?!

Mamafi - I think it would look better with brown tights/accessories. I think black would cheapen it. But can't tell without seeing it in the flesh. Might it also look nice with deep plum coloured tights/top underneath?

What is this school run outfit thing?

Obviously I've let myself go because my school run outfit consists of anything that doesn't have curry stains down the front. And failing that, a voluminous coat to cover up the offending stain.

Slimcognito - aren't you worried about the sartorial subtext of curry stains? Would you like us to find you something (and washable!) to wear on the school run.

ONe of the mums at school is having an affair, apparently. Rather than being shocked I just think she's looking terriffic on it.

Don't do black, so thinking of cardi over, with dark brown boots and tights. Might do top underneath, but my school run is literally a run (all down hill with 3 dc!) so I don't get cold!

Not read all the posts but dress in the OP is beyond vile and looks cheap and nasty.

Fimbo - So you only like it a bit?

lolol

I'll have to show this to my mother. She used to do the Harpenden school run in cords and a hideous bird's custard colour enormo coat, tramping up the Nicky Line.

Oh how things have changed.

I like the dress btw Swedes.

Swedes, it´s quite a dress. Go for it.

I wish I´d dare to wear it.

But I live in a village in Dorset and have to cross two muddy fields to get to the school, and somehow I feel quite dressed up already in my brown skirt and boots (now how dreary does that sound......) So what sort of area do you live in ? I guess a bit more urban?

Oh well, at least am not in DH fleece and wellies!

School run time.

I have wasted so much time on my sartorial subtext of the school run neurosis, that I have left insufficient time to touch up make up and brush my hair. And we are going en mmasse to the playpark after school.

Slubber - at Bird's custard coat. I'm sure my mother had one of those, which she wore with some carrot topppers' three quarter length brown wellies. Oh the shame.
