I just got the straight leg jeans, and I was expecting them to be a lot skinnier. Out of an order including

sixties dress - vile
pewter pumps - actually green
pintuck tunic - could it be any more unflattering?

they were the only things I kept. They aren't amazing, but they'll do for the school run.

have to say, from my POV, if they aren't super skinny I shall be very thankful

Not wanting to cast aspersions on my own lovely pins which do exactly as it says on the tin but......put it this way...shall never be blown over in a stiff wind

Nor me Tulpe. Far from it. But I just wanted them to look brilliant with boots. I would say that in the hurricane that it would take to knock me over, I'll be looking alrightish in the boden straightleg jeans

Oooh I hear ya, Moodlum........Lets put it this way....I was the only woman not panicking during tornado season in the Mid-West in 1998

In all seriousness.....ahem......do they not look cool with boots then? are they more Jeremy Clarkson type straight legs than say Top Shop/Gap??

TBH, what really appealed to me about them was the fact that they would not display my underwear every time I moved in them

no I didnt liekt he fabric or the rather long waist.
or the bag around the calves - not even slightly skinny

They sound just what i want! almost straight leg but not quite.
I measured the ankle width of my summer cropped jeans, Boden, and they are just 1 inch narrower than the skinny jeans, so that made me think they are not really skinny at all.
I want some that can tuck into boots...we will see when they come.

have also ordered the denim mini- long length and the pencil skirt in denim- anyone got and any comments?

i really reccy the top shop marthas instead - or if you are chunky of thigh the gap curvys

Report
tulpe · 31/08/2009 11:55

I do like Marthas but tbh, I want something that covers my backside properly. I have worn the Marthas for a year now and I spend all the time trying to pull them up.

Am v long in the body so hopefully these Boden ones will work well for me.

Altho am slightly concerned at the width of them. They look really skinny fit on the models? (altho perhaps models have legs like mine in reality.....

Have ordered the velour hooded dress for DD - £19.04 including delivery (I think would have been over £30 at normal price)

would recommend this - will be DD's 4th.

(got the pink with chocolate polka dots)

They're good for the relatively large of tummy, in that they actually fit without having to pull them up all the time IYSWIM. Its around the calf and ankle i would have liked them skinnier, to fit into my boots.

The best pair I ever had (and I'm a good size 16) were Next Skinny, which were perfect fit, skinny enough to put into boots and £20. Alas I cannot find a pair this season...

KristinaM · 31/08/2009 20:26

here are Next skinny jeans. £22 this season. Size 16 long in stock

Can you phone them and ask them what their offer will be? I'm seriously in love with their velvet coat in peacock blue, to the extent that I am obsessing thinking about it all the time.

Paolosgirl - The velvet coat not coming up I'm afraid

But my hotchpotch crystal ball tells me it's going to be the cashmere cropped cardi tomorrow

Oh poop . Could I put all the Christmas money I usually get in one big hopeful pot, buy it as an early present to myself, and ignore everything else in the house and with the kids that needs £135 spent on it, do you think? Haven't seen anything in the shop that comes even close to The Perfect Coat.

Report
EasterEggHuntIsOver · 31/08/2009 22:21

But...
There's a 15% code you can use - LNCA. This brings the coat down to just over £114, plus get a free cord bag if you spend over £150

I went to a Boden trunk show today and the Boden rep pulled out the velvet coat in blue - it is beautiful and I think it would be really useful too. You would get loads of wear out of it! She also told me (because I had my really unenthusiastic DD with me) that Boden will be launching a tween/teen line in the spring. My dd looked at me as if to say "not in a million years will I be wearing whatever they decide is trendy for teens"

I'm not sure that just over £114 could be justified - but then I do work hard and do deserve a lovely coat, and would get loads of wear out of it as Still says! Thanks for the 15% code though!

purplepeony · 01/09/2009 09:05

I wish they'd do petites rather than "tweens"- the number of reviews that ask for shorter length trousers and skirts in unbelievable- includes me.

Report
Paolosgirl · 01/09/2009 21:02

Agree - I have a feeling that even if I did succumb to The Perfect Coat it will be too long, the sleeves would come down to my fingertips and the waist would sit on my hips. I wonder why they don't do petite?
