Got 50 gift voucher for next for b day and tried to get a nice frock but nothing in

saw some nice tops and as its very rare i get to buy self anything new thought a couple of new tops would be better as i could wear again

do you think it will be ok?

I don't think jeans of any description are suitable for church.

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 07/07/2009 21:30

What SD said.

McDreamy · 07/07/2009 21:30

Agree with soupdragon. Nice top and trousers would be fine but not jeans.

thisisyesterday · 07/07/2009 21:31

agree with soupdragon. not my idea of a baptism outfit.
but then i am not exactly stylish, so maybe not the best person to answer lol

missblythe · 07/07/2009 21:31

Honestly? No. Sorry but you'll look like you came en route to a night out.

Haven't you already got anything at all that you can wear? Then you can still get the tops!

EldonAve · 07/07/2009 21:33

Agree with Soupy

treedelivery · 07/07/2009 21:35

Suggest white linen trousers instead - then you can have the tops

Less glam but more church.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 07/07/2009 21:36

no i have nothing

we have struggled since we had ds and new clothes are a real treat.I have to have decent work gear so thats where money goes but dont have a supply of nice outfits since i had the kids

dh got me voucher as he knew if he give me cash i would have spent it on kids!

No - the heels and jeans are worse than just jeans and ballet flats tbh. You need some smart trousers or a skirt really.

And I disagree that you cant wear jeans to church ever - you can wear what you like really if you go every week. It's if you dont go a lot and you're going to an 'event' that you'll be judged for it.

treedelivery · 07/07/2009 21:37

Next do the linen trouser thing for £20 if that helps.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 07/07/2009 21:37

friend and i discussed linen today and agreed that once bought never worn cos of the ironing!!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 07/07/2009 21:39

wearing jeans in church isnt an issue for me its more about looking smart

im rc and dont think jesus has a dress code!

Sorry choc. Sounds great for a night out but not for chuch otherwise. )unless you always go there and they are used to seeing you in casual)
Think even your most worky work outfit woudl be better

thisisyesterday · 07/07/2009 21:42

linen is fine, it's not that much effort to iron them is it?

SoupDragon · 07/07/2009 21:44

Jeans do not look smart.

treedelivery · 07/07/2009 21:44

Next linen - fine to iron honestly. I don't do 'iron', so I kid you not.

mummiesnet · 07/07/2009 21:45

White skinny jeans. No.

Charity shop/Gap sale/Peacocks even for some vaguely smart trousers.

That way you can buy the tops and wear your heels

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 07/07/2009 21:46

i will re think and have a look again tomorrow

not linen though, tbh it always looks a bot shabby to me.my white jeans are not denim so do look smarter than 'jeans'

i will see what skirts they have

personally the issue isn't just "jeans in church"

it is specifically the white skinny jeans, teamed with high heels.

Wilkiepedia · 07/07/2009 21:48

I second Next linen trousers - dead easy to iron.

White skinny jeans to a baptism - nooooo.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 07/07/2009 21:48

limited to next as have voucher

wish he had got me debenhams voucher as more choice!!

They have nice bikinis in the Next Sale ATM.

How about a nice spotty number? At least you would stand out in the Christening photos.

THIS?

Wilkiepedia · 07/07/2009 21:53

Do you have a friend who would buy the Next voucher off you for cash? The next sale is on next weekend so there must be someone you know going who will use the voucher?
