I saw so many when i ventured into nearest city today. The side partings are so severe on some of them they have to hairspray them into place.

I saw one girl, who's long hair was combed over from top of her ear.

Such cricked necks they walk with heads at right angles to bodies!!!

Oh I don't think I have seen this yet, must be a new look...

LemonDifficult · 27/06/2009 19:59

I was thinking EXACTLY this today. It's mad, just looks so awkward. Where's it come from?!

FrannyandZooey · 27/06/2009 19:59

oh i have seen them
i demonstrated for dp and he was scared
it looks LUDICROUS
i feel so old

QOD · 27/06/2009 20:00

yep, the New Romantic look is back!

IDidntRaiseAThief · 27/06/2009 20:02

what will happen if they tilt their heads the other way tho!

I have not noticed this. However I have observed that they hold their handbags in a most unusual manner - in the crease of their elbows, a bit like a teapot.

GeneHunt · 27/06/2009 20:11

Is this the private schoolgirl look or something different? You can tell which school the kids go to around here either by the crazy hair-flip or the Jack Wills top. Such bizarre and narrow uniforms teens choose for themselves after moaning about the stifling of creativity a school blazer causes. [/wry smile]

alicecrail · 27/06/2009 20:14

It's defintely a posh kid 'do' you see them at the races like it - big comb-over, huge handbag, teapot style and either a raa raa skirt or skinny jeans, but they are all individuals of course

IkeaSnake · 27/06/2009 20:15

this is a posh sloaney thing SE based afaik

IDidntRaiseAThief · 27/06/2009 20:21

why they doing it in plymouth then

OP posts:
cornsilk · 27/06/2009 20:23

They are doing it in Manchester as well. It's yoof culture.

cornsilk · 27/06/2009 20:23

(The teapot thing I mean.)

LemonDifficult · 27/06/2009 20:24

Round my way, Edinburgh, this is a look sported by all those girls who work in hairdressers but don't yet cut hair. (Presumably they'd need better all-round vision for that)

IDidntRaiseAThief · 27/06/2009 20:25

lol !!!

smugmumofboys · 27/06/2009 20:27

It's out and proud in Cheshire! Louds of my students sport this look - even the boys. It does look a bit daft.

Feenie · 27/06/2009 20:31

Saw it in Leeds City Centre today, had to try very hard not to stare in astonishment. I have worn some weird stuff in my time, but it looks SOOOOO odd!

popsycal · 27/06/2009 20:34

been around fir at least a year uo here.....

nappyaddict · 27/06/2009 20:35

I saw a boy sporting it yesterday. Looked ridiculous. All his hair was basically over his face. God knows how he could see to eat his dinner!

All the girls round here wear skinny jeans, denim skirts, ra ra skirts or long tshirts/cardigans with leggings.

CurryMaid · 27/06/2009 20:35

Oh I saw this at the bus stop the other day and did wonder.

popsycal · 27/06/2009 20:38

are we taking the 'emo frimge'???

PortAndLemon · 27/06/2009 20:43

I've been reading this thread title all day thinking "huh?"; then I looked at my niece's new photos on Facebook and wow! I see what you mean now... (SE based but definitely not posh, so it must be spreading...)

BodenGroupie · 27/06/2009 20:49

Uugh, tis a sign of posh wannabe - DD1 does it and I hate it - seems to show the greasy bit of her hair whilst she thinks it qualifies her for a place in the Jack Wills catalogue.

IkeaSnake · 27/06/2009 20:50

I find my self thinking "Oh fgs brush your hair"

serin · 27/06/2009 23:33

You should worry!
7yr old DS does this "But Mum it's dead cool".

RustyBear · 27/06/2009 23:51

DD, who has a fairly normal side-parting says it's the posh lot at Exeter uni who do it - the ones in Holland Hall apparently - she agrees with the teapot style handbag/skinny jeans analysis too.
