yes, you must wear boden and one piece swimsuits right up to your forties then you are in footglove territory.

i suspect you are jsut feeling tired.

LetThemEatCake · 25/05/2009 16:58

differently from your mother/ MiL - yes.

BonsoirAnna · 25/05/2009 17:35

Not unless you have put on hideous amounts of weight and have stopped grooming

KingRolo · 25/05/2009 17:37

You have to buy your clothes here.

PuzzleRocks · 25/05/2009 17:41

or here

traceybath · 25/05/2009 17:42

Well i no longer wear denim mini-skirts unless on holiday and around a pool. In fact generally more careful regarding skirt lengths.

Also don't do such low cut tops anymore.

But still am fashionable i hope and spend far too long perusing vogue/netaporter for ideas.

You just have to mix it up more and never ever wear anything from joules especially if it has a joules logo on it.

MamaHobgoblin · 25/05/2009 18:55

Puzzlerocks, I have to admit to a fascination with those sorts of online shops - the ones for sectarian -nutters-- American women who want to dress 'modest'! Mmm - perhaps I ought to be wearing http://www.modestapparelusa.com/dress_party.html this, seeing as I'm now nearly 36.

I tend to be choosy over which fashions I take on. And also go for quality fabrics and stay away from anything too tight.

But my favourite look right now, is floral print chiffon tea dress, over white slip, over leggings, tan gladiator sandals (and a fake tan) and tuxedo jacket. So it's like a young look, but with tailoring

I get lots of inspiriation from Grazia magazine, and the trick is to think, ok I can get into that short skintight dress but that does not mean I should wear it.

Something that is really aging to me, is women in their 30s who want to wear something fashionable but just miss it totally. For instance, last night their were loads of 30something women in coral. Now, I know coral is the colour right now, but it's like they'd just thought 'oh it's coral, and fashionable so I will look young, so I will get it!' but most of the coral offerings on these women were sateen, skintight, sleeveless and with lots of ruffles.

KingRolo · 25/05/2009 19:34

Footgloves for the norks

WhiteFish · 25/05/2009 19:35

I think the leggings sound odd

its hot!

Jewelsandgems · 25/05/2009 19:37

Whitefish! I love in Scotland! And without leggings, the dress would be too short for bare legs (IMO anyway)

KingRolo · 25/05/2009 19:38

A serious tip is to avoid Next if at all possible. Their target customer is in their 30s I guess but their clothes are, in the main, frumpy and badly fitting versions of what's fashionable (e.g. the coral stuff metioned by J&G).

WhiteFish · 25/05/2009 19:39

what IS the point to summer in scotland?

Jewelsandgems · 25/05/2009 19:45

Yeah I know whitefish - damned if I know. Let's just say I am very good at layering, and wear alot of jackets.

MsMaggieBeauregarde · 25/05/2009 19:47

oh MY GOOD god, that modest apparel website!!!! is that a joke!?

I prefer principles to next. slightly dearer but stuff is far nicer and you'll see fewer people in it.

I splurge there once a year.

PuzzleRocks · 25/05/2009 20:03

MsMaggieBeauregarde - Joke? What can you mean?
I think you'll find you have been most offensive to MamaHobgoblin and my good self.
Can I tempt you with one of these?

PuzzleRocks · 25/05/2009 20:04

Forget that, they are sold out!

harleyd · 25/05/2009 20:09

MamaHobgoblin · 25/05/2009 20:14

It's the nighties that tempt me.

Look at this! I'm very drawn to the paisley.

Andthis is lovely for breastfeeding - 'you no longer have to leave the room' - yippee! (It's a nightdress. Modesty while nursing in front of one's husband is so important.)

mollyroger · 25/05/2009 20:17

FFS, this little baeuty is SOLD OUT

midnightexpress · 25/05/2009 20:17

You'd have to keep away from the fags in that nightie though MamaH or you'll go up in a puff of smoke.

midnightexpress · 25/05/2009 20:19

parteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

KingRolo · 25/05/2009 20:19

The size chart page looks very professional.
