who me?
daytime-
skinny jeans or straight leg jeans
bold print knee length skirts-think poodles or bold flowers.
tight fitting jumpers-mostly h and m etc or comfy but fitted hoodies.
plain fitted vest tops or long sleeve tops.
either ballet pumps or flat boots.

for evening i like real party dresses-i dont see the point in going on a night out if you cant get dressed up.

i might be brave and stick on some pics of typical things i wear. might....

I've definitely changed my look since hitting 30.. I think I'm more confident and wear what I like rather than always playing it safe with jeans and a simple top. I experiment more with colour, change my hair and don't worry about getting it wrong as much. I mainly shop in places like Kew, Great Plains, Gap, White Stuff, Fat Face, Whistles and the odd bit of Boden but only the simple stuff, not the embroidered nasties!!

I wouldn't wear sleeveless tops for years, for example. Why??! I love them now. And if my highlights are a bit light this time, so what, I'll have some darker streaks put in next time. I've given up being self conscious about things.

I do agree on Next, I think it's gone so off, was in there today and think the majority of the clothes are either (thinking of a PC way to phrase this but failing) a bit chavvy, or frumpy. The shoes are consistently dreadful imho. Too many slogans on clothes, too many embellishments, and not as cheap as it should be for the quality you get.

OMG. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at those websites.

Don't you just know that those girls from that Lilies website are so going to rebel in their thirties and start dressing in this.

Re: the OP. I probably wouldn't wear such shorts as I did when in my teens and twenties, but I still wear mini-dresses and skirts.

Clubbing type clothes are out, TBH, I think.

But everything else is fair game, I reckon.

harleyd · 25/05/2009 21:53

cheesesarnie · 25/05/2009 21:57

But what if you had got to know your shape and then it changed after DCs? DD2 is 9mo now and I keep finding that I'm taking stuff into the changing room which is completely wrong for me as I'm still shopping for the 'old me'

As for dressing age appropriately I think ithas much more to do with how good you look in something than your age. From what I see there are plenty of 16 year olds around looking pretty awful in the current 'looks' and 30+ year olds looking pretty good in similar outfits just because they've got the experience/money to know how to make something look good.

You probably are just tired though, I am tending to feel very hopeless about what to wear just now and I'm exhausted!

MrsMcCluskey · 25/05/2009 22:10

I dress more individually now than I did in my 20s as I am more confident nd happier with my looks.
I like surfy/ casual look.
Lots of scarves and accessories.

angelene · 25/05/2009 22:13

In my mid-thirties I have discovered the wrap dress, and because (thanks be to genes) I have good norks I have gone for far more cleavagey type stuff - a deep v-neck suits me best.

I have gone for more glamorous stuff since having DD and getting over PND, I have 'refound' myself a bit and enjoy being more glam and smart.

Mistymoo · 25/05/2009 22:18

DH thought this was lovely.

Oh no....i've just turned 30 and for the past couple of years i've shopped in fat face, next and sometimes new look/dotty p's. All my clothes are casual, i've always found the next stuff to wash really well and i have to say its my favourite shop because theres a store near to me or i can order online. I can usually grab a size 14 and know that it will fit in next. Other shops i have to take a few sizes to try.

I did once order from Boden for myself but didn't find the quality very good, shame because i think the boys clothing is very hard wearing.

I usually wear jeans boyfriend/bootcut, tshirts and hoodies with trainers for the school run, comfy as its quite a walk. And when i get home i then have to walk the dogs.

Should i need to smarten up a bit more, i will wear a nicer vest or tee, cardi, smarter jeans bootcut/skinny with ballet pumps, wedges or boot.

i have a few dresses/tunics/tops that can be worn over skinny jeans with wedges/heel. Thats me getting dressed up.

For lazy days when i don't leave the house i have some combats. And if its hot i replace the jeans with linen trousers. Also have a couple of wrap dresses that i have never worn but have heard people rave about them so thought i should have one in my wardrobe.

Since having children i no longer wear skirts and rarely heels. I don't think i dress differently since turning 30, it happened 6 years ago when i had children and my body changed and i lost my confidence.

bunnymother · 26/05/2009 16:19

I am totally confused here! In some of these pictures you linked to, the women are posing with children who look like they are theirs, indicating that they are actually having sex. Yet, when you look at the clothes, it seems unlikely. Perhaps these dresses cover up hardcore fetish underwear?
