for which I am very grateful btw - the Monsoon ones were out of stock mostly and the Reiss ones too officey and too Aintree ladies day I am now looking at this...what do you think?

More expensive than the other options but for a registry office with 2 witnesses and then onto Venice? Am not sure if I am too intimidated to actually go and try it on as well - does anyone know the main VW shop on Conduit St?

I think it looks fabulous from the front, but strangely boring from the back (compared to the front, IYSWIM). Sorry.

What kind of dress do you have in mind? Style? Look? Colour?

What kind of figure do you have? How tall are you?

Heated · 25/05/2009 15:33

Sorry I missed your earlier thread. Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. Tbh the fastening down the front of the dress looks clumsy when I zoomed in but hard to tell I suppose until you see it in the flesh. Do you have a budget?

Penthesileia · 25/05/2009 15:36

This All Saints dress is very dramatic, as is their Parachute dress.

giantkatestacks · 25/05/2009 15:37

No I thought that a little bit too...

I have tried on shiny dresses and prom type dresses and they all seem wrong - I need something to show off more of an hourglass figure but not over the top for a civil wedding with no guests - hence steering away from white dresses.

Am 5ft7 and an 8/10 depending on the shop.

I would really like something that I could wear travelling and arriving as well...

have tried on this but it was a bit too tarty and this which fitted perfectly and was quite sexy but a bit dull maybe for a wedding...

The budget was supposed to be £200 - I was nt going to buy a new dress until I started to see ones I liked and now am hooked on the idea...

I like the all saints ones - specially the parachute but want a lighter colour really.

Agree with Penthesileia - gorgeous from the front but the back looks like it has come from another dress.

Go try it on though, it may look different in RL.

Heated · 25/05/2009 15:41

These are nice but maybe too traditionally weddingy for you, but omg have just looked at the price! However, maybe useful to get some ideas, will keep looking. How lovely to have size 8/10 hourglass though!

Heated · 25/05/2009 15:42

trying again

giantkatestacks · 25/05/2009 15:47

yes I think if I was going to go weddingy then I might go with this as the shape would work for me and its [coughs] cheap...

namechangecosfeelingsad · 25/05/2009 15:55

Sorry OP, not seen previous thread, but I assume people have recommended Coast dresses but they've been no good?

In the unlikely event that you haven't already seen these -

this one is pretty and great for hourglass

this is more traditional

What do you think?

bronze · 25/05/2009 15:57

have you tried [[http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/55000741&bklist=icat,4,shop,bridal,bridaldresses monsoon] I'm not sure how bridey you want

bronze · 25/05/2009 15:58

they were probably where you first looked

Heated · 25/05/2009 15:59

debenhams is beautiful but you need something more fitted.

That M&S one is beautifully simple

bronze · 25/05/2009 15:59

ok crap why cant I read

I even saw the bit about Reiss

Heated · 25/05/2009 16:00

That bea monsoon dress is lovely Bronze

MadameCastafiore · 25/05/2009 16:01

What about this .

I think it is really elegant and if you are long and thin you would look lovely in it.

bronze · 25/05/2009 16:01

I thought so too

becaroo · 25/05/2009 16:04

Dont know whether anyone has mentioned Coast?..I always seem to find something I like there....

Congrats BTW x

giantkatestacks · 25/05/2009 16:07

they are all lovely but a bit pretty for me - I've a good figure but am not pretty so they look a bit odd on me iyswim.

That karen millen one is good - I like a bit of structure mostly though.
