anyone there?

Flamesparrow · 13/05/2009 13:34

Meh, probably feed a family on the budget, but if I had the money, I would be doing it too. Spend what you have imo - just don't whinge to me about the taxes as I will have very little sympathy

NorkyButNice · 13/05/2009 13:40

What can I say - I read a lot of wedding magazines

I think yours stuck in my head because I'd tried on the same dress, and I don't think I ever saw anyone else wearing it in the magazines.

blondissimo · 13/05/2009 14:46

Also thanks Cake for your info re nail enamel - Superdrug really? Am loving the chiconomics (yes I shamelessly stole that from "the outnet" )

LetThemEatCake · 13/05/2009 15:23

ha!! I am using "recessionista"

Nice shoes. So, where do you find a shoe/frock enabler?

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 19:53

Oh my god, I love the Primark sandals. But I'm mostly impressed by your calves LTEC. !
There is a frock enabler thread somewhere in style and Beauty...

LetThemEatCake · 13/05/2009 20:11

I will frock enable anyone. It's my calling.

OP posts:
FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 13/05/2009 20:14

There are no willing gents here sadly so I have to fund my adiction for shoes et al. Darn! I'm growing rather partial to Emma Hope at the moment.

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 20:17

LTEC, I'm still thinking of that Philippe Lim dress you linked to. I need to find out if I can find it here in Milan.

LetThemEatCake · 13/05/2009 20:18

franca, where was it from? Outnet or mywardrobe?

OP posts:
blondissimo · 13/05/2009 20:20

Thanks LTEC- though I am thinking I may push the boat out and get the Chanel one as I have accrued about £100 of Boots Advantage points and was unsure of what to spend them on. Any ideas what else to splash out on? Sorry to hijack Cake

reducedfatkettlechip · 13/05/2009 20:21

LTEC I am practically drooling over your lovely new JC shoes. They are shoe perfection. And I'm your size too. [green]

And when you said gold and Primark, I didn't have high hopes but those sandals are lovely too.

Penthesileia · 13/05/2009 20:21

Ok. Not frock enabling, exactly.

Bag enabling...!

Should I buy this Mulberry bag?

Reasons for:

  1. I want a bag to mark end of ML, going back to work

  2. I want a bag which is quite "classic" looking, and won't age. I'm not a big bag person, so won't be buying another very soon (I think! )

  3. I want a bag which will be good for carrying my notes, folders, a book or two, my Vaio - basically work stuff, so it has to be largish, and vertical (IYSWIM)

  4. I regret not buying the Elgin bag when it came out a few years ago

Reasons against:

  1. It is very expensive, and I could buy several dresses with the money

  2. There might be a better bag out there, if only I could find it

  3. Errrrrr

So, enable me!

reducedfatkettlechip · 13/05/2009 20:23

that should have been . Got carried away there.
Off to tot up how much I've whacked on the Amex this month already..

Penthesileia · 13/05/2009 20:23

Wow - cross posted with lots of people!

We're all desperately in need of enabling!

reducedfatkettlechip · 13/05/2009 20:25

Lovely bag, go to the Shepton Mallett discount store to buy it and you'll probably get a fair amount off the price and then you can have a dress too.

Bargain! (providing you don't live in Scotland )

blondissimo · 13/05/2009 20:25

Penthesileia - I will enable you - buy it!!!! The great thing about Mulberry bags is that they are timeless. I have the Emmy and I don't think I'll ever stop using it. So if you work out the cost per use, it's actually a bargain!

Flamesparrow · 13/05/2009 20:26

I would love to bag enable, but I just don't "get" bags.

I dunno why, I use them, would get much more use out of bags, but pretty shoes I can gush over and a bag is a bag is a bag

Penthesileia · 13/05/2009 20:28

I'm normally like that too, Flamesparrow. I only own 3 handbags atm. But lately I've been hankering after this bag...

rfkc: Yes, I've been thinking about the discount store: chances are, though, they won't have it in that brown leather, just bright pink or something.

That's what I'm hoping, blondissimo... I like your thinking!

Flamesparrow · 13/05/2009 20:29

I go with a cost per wear thing too

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 20:33

LTEC it was on outnet, but I want to touch before buying. And I don't trust the italian mail service

blondissimo · 13/05/2009 20:34

Normal Mulberry stores actually do quite good sales too - I got mine reduced from £595 to £414! That was the ultimate deciding factor!

LetThemEatCake · 13/05/2009 20:36

I can't tell you how happy you have all made me

blond - get a coral colour as well - wow £100 of Boots points??? Impressive!!
What other sorts of products do you like? I would buy a pot of gold dust for shimmering over brow bones/ cheekbones/ shoulders etc this summer - what sort of colouring do you have?

kettlechip - you're my size? really? I'm not the only Yeti out there!! I am selling another pair of Choos on ebay if you fancy... otherwise you can borrow the new ones

Fluffybunny: I fund my own clothes habit too. It's my rule. Fine if dh pays for things that benefit the whole family (mortgage etc) but 'fripperies' have got to come from my part-time work. (am full time SAHM, I work freelance when the kids are asleep!) He doesn't care, but I do.

Penth - absolutely buy it. Returning to work after MK has got to be worthy of a treat but, on a "virtuous' level, a bag is 100x more practical than X-amount of frocks which will likely date more quickly - plus you get daily use from a bag - no frock in the world can lay claim to that (not even a school uniform

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 20:36

Penthe, get the bag! But try it first. Big leather bag can be very heavy
