frigging awesome!

I used a method from this thread and then something similar to trim the back.
I did have same length below shoulder hair and now it is all layered and light and pretty.
And it took 10 minutes in the kitchen with a brush, hairband and some scissors!

BTW, not adding you to list until you like it. You are messing with my stats!

Just done it. I had hair almost the same as the model in the link and it has come out fabulously. Can't believe it. Is definitely in my top three haircuts ever. I am stunned.

Will be looking out for other ladies with similar hair cuts in my area now and will know they are mnetters.

Sheeta · 21/04/2009 22:10

ahhh... the bonus of having curly hair.. I can cut it myself, completely bugger it up, and even I am none the wiser :-D

meggymoosmum · 21/04/2009 22:15

OK, shall give it another go. This has probably been covered... but do i do little snips? Or deep snips? Or does that depend on how long i want the layers?!

JackBauer · 21/04/2009 22:21

Put the scissors parallel to your hair (so sticking into the ponytail) about an inchish (or more depending on how long your hair is, but about an inch was ok for me) and then starts snipping while moving them around.
That's about it really.

I just cut it off with one big cut and then tidied it up. I can't tell you how impressed I am with it, thoroughly over excited in fact .

meggymoosmum · 21/04/2009 22:22

Thank you!! Am off upstairs

EachPeachPearMum · 21/04/2009 23:10

Ah! no I understand- thanks MoM (and JB too, of course)

meggymoosmum · 22/04/2009 07:42

Right, much better! (It didn't take me all night, honest ) Am going to give it a wash and a straighten this morning then go from there, think i might do the fringe a bit shorter. But am very pleased to be rid of my scraggy ends!! Had £50 saved up since xmas to get it done but not found the time - which means i've now got some pennies to spend on myself! Yay!

LtEveDallas · 22/04/2009 08:49

Just posting so I can find again later.....my last haircut cost me 50 euros and didnt look that different, so I'm gonna try this tonight

southeastastra · 22/04/2009 08:52

wonder if lee stafford knows about this thread - he's gooorgeous.

(i'd try the cut but my hair is like that anyway)

SammyK · 22/04/2009 09:20

I did mine last night and it looks brilliant. If I can manage a photo where my skin doesnt look hideous I will post it. I didnt end up with loads off the length but had a huge bowl full of hair when I was done I would I spent a minute cutting the legth and then five cutting in (very important for me as I have very very thick hair).

Have cut my own hair before so wasn't too apprehensive - it grows back after all! I am going to get a new hair dye kit and I will be all glam for less than a fiver!

Thank you Lee Stafford.

EyeballsintheSky · 22/04/2009 09:42

Well today, I blow dried but not straightened it so it's semi straight, it looks not too much different, shorter, thicker and slightly layered so I think I'm going again tonight to make it a good bit shorter. In fact, if I had brought my scissors with me I'd do it in the loos here at work I'm that excited!

sockmonkey · 22/04/2009 09:58

Have loaded a pic.
DH didn't notice... when I asked if he'd spotted anything different he said "have you washed your hair?"
Note to self... wash hair more often.

EyeballsintheSky · 22/04/2009 10:02

I tried to bounce to the train like the woman on the shampoo add used to and her hair would bounce up and down with pure life and shininess as she walked. Think I just looked like a pillock though.

Well we know we've had posh hair cuts, even if our dozy DHs don't.

milkysallgone · 22/04/2009 10:21

OMG I just did and am very pleased with the results!

Add me to the list please!

I think it could do with more llayering at the back though - how do I do that?

mammya · 22/04/2009 11:32

I have just done this and I don't like the result at all! It's a disaster! Wail! Now I'm going to have to go to the hairdresser and be told off for trying to do it myself...

ProfYaffle · 22/04/2009 12:34

Oh no, why? What don't you like?

I'm still dithering because a) I have long wavy hair and don't think it will make that much difference and b) whenever hairdressers cut into my hair like that it looks shite so am rather dubious.

mammya · 22/04/2009 13:45

It just looks awful, with random bits cut at random lengths. My hair is naturally very straight, perhaps that's why? On the other hand perhaps it's just that I'm very cack-handed with scissors...

Anyway I'm not doing that again!

I am jealous of all of you that have done it successfully!

ProfYaffle · 22/04/2009 13:50

Ok, you've decided me, I'm not doing it!

JackBauer · 22/04/2009 13:53

Oh mammya, what don't you like? What's wrong?

Well done everyone else though, will redo list later (takes frigging ages)

milkysallgone · 22/04/2009 13:59

Ooh you're back Jack

How do I get more layers round the back?

mammya · 22/04/2009 14:15

It's all wrong! Doesn't look remotely like yours, Jack!

I have managed to make an emergency appointment with a hairdresser for tomorrow morning, phew! In the meantime my hair is in a very messy looking bun...

JackBauer · 22/04/2009 14:19

Right, first of all, stop making me feel guilty you swines! I didn;t make you do it

For layers at the back I did another ponytail on the very crown of my head, dead centre this time. And didn't cut it too short so I didn;t get cowlicks

Mammya why doesn't it look like mine? Are you blonde? that would make a difference

toolly · 22/04/2009 14:30

Never can resist a dare. Just done it and it looks ......

not bad. I have had worse and paid a lot more in the past. My hair is very very thick with a slight wave to it and as I am still breastfeeding there is a lot of it so is quite forgiving and can take a lot of inexpert hacking.
