here

I LOVE the print and shape... but I would like it much more in a heavy cotton, then I could wear it all summer over jeans for beach and stuff - but it's silk and probably delicate.

OTOH - I love it so much, I kind of want to get it as an investment (when next feeling flush) for weddings etc.

Has anyone got it and can tell me what it's like?

I'm going to encourage you to buy it and plead for you to post a pic of you wearing it.....

.....(and then, post that it really doesn't fit you well and the colour doesn't suit you etc. And offer, kindly, to take it off your hands for, say, £40....)

Piffle · 30/03/2009 21:16

I've got it
Gorgeous gorgeous but does cling which I dont' mind personally... but tis not for everyone
tis free returns this month!!!

WhoTookMyMemoryStick · 30/03/2009 21:30

Hoxton, can you recommend anything that did suit your proportions? I'm looking for a special but not formal outfit and am a similar build to your description.

muffle · 31/03/2009 00:27

Lovely lots more positive replies! I do look for things like this in charity shops and occasionally find them, but v rarely as they tend not to be a good fit - and while this looks vintage, real vintage prints are usually not this nice! Am small-norked and can deal with cling - can reline if necessary - so am now extremely tempted.

Hi. It's lovely but hope you're quite small busted otherwise the neckline will look matronly.

Am off to scout round the Toast site for other lovely things (that i can't have, boo..)

WowOoo · 31/03/2009 08:29

I've never found the right stuff in right sizes in their sales and good stuff goes v quickly so GET IT NOW. It's gorgeous...

missblythe · 31/03/2009 08:36

Oh, it's beautiful. Buy it!

Ronaldinhio · 31/03/2009 09:00

nope, not for me I'm afraid
Too high necked and perhaps a tad sofa patternish

muffle · 31/03/2009 09:07

Yes I think that's what appeals to me ronald...

now you're asking memory stick . some toast stuff suits me, but they do a really irritating thing with the bust line which stops half way down your boobs & squashes them. i often find things to suit me in jigsaw, i got a lovely coral linen dress there recently. also, new find is hoss intropia. there isn't much online but they have a shop on regent st & have gorgeous things - lovely prints & they fit me!

fishie · 31/03/2009 09:22

hello hoxtonchick. you are right, toast do not like bosoms. i've looked at that hoss place but i fear their prints.

jigsaw have just gone utterly loopy, i've tried and tried to spend money there but not succeeded.

hoxtonchick · 31/03/2009 09:32

that fishie agrees with me (i owe you an e-mail don't i, am being crap). i like jigsaw's droopy tunics but they piss quite a lot of people off....

oh, lk bennet has some good dresses. but quit expensive for what they are.

i got a wide striped coral & cream tunic from hoss, not too scary printwise. am itching to go back though!

Springflower · 31/03/2009 10:01

Oh no, I love it too, and the top, but cant afford either of them. Or can I ......

zanz1bar · 31/03/2009 11:04

right, who can find something like the dress but connnsiddderably cheaper.
your mission for the day!

if you need any further convincing check this out

absolutely beautiful, but no more so than yours, and about a zillion times the price

Buy the Toast one!!!!

TheDevilEatsNestle · 31/03/2009 15:13

I agree buy the tast one, it's very 'classic' in shape and pattern and will last ages.

higgle · 31/03/2009 15:47

I love it too - but i only buy Toast in the sale, they tend to have most things left if you get in early and if you have already bought from them they usually have a sale preview for existing customers. Can you wait until around late July?

BobtheWoodmouse · 31/03/2009 16:12

I love Toast and I love that dress but I tend to hang on for the sales which are excellent. The stuff is always good quality and I am still wearing items that are a few years old and still look great. I've stopped buying Toast stuff lately since they stopped being stocked by Selfridges in the Trafford Centre - it was a great place to try out first and get an idea before the sales started. The dresses with waistlines are the only item of caution with me - I am long-waisted and some of their dress waist lines are too high on me and are not very flattering as a result. I find their sizes run true to small - no vanity sizing there alas!

samsonara · 31/03/2009 16:23

love the colours, try it on, the sizing can be abit unexpected from Toast, usually too tight up top and generous else where

Bellebelle · 31/03/2009 19:59

Love it! I want the purple one with bracelet length sleeves which is the same price (can't post link on phone) but it's been out of stock for ages. I just know that I've seen a 20% off and free p&p offer for toast in a magazine but need to find it, if I do I'll post the code for you.

Toast stuff is such great quality, I'm still scouring eBay regularly for a dress I stupidly never bought last summer but none have come on in my size. Don't regret not buying your fab dress!

muffle · 31/03/2009 21:25

Bob that long-waist issue is what I'm worried about too - though it looks nice on the model and she's probably tall. OTOH smaller on top and bigger arse should fit me well.

If anyone does come across a code please do let me know!

Piffle · 31/03/2009 21:39

I'm famously large breasted was prev 30HH now after reduction 32dd
On a slim frame I'm still busty and the dress looks fabulous
I regularly bought toast when former bust existed
I buy off eBay

slackrunner · 31/03/2009 21:45

oooh - I like it. I wish I hadn't looked - £145! I am very tempted though.

DOes anyone know what Toast are like for tall women? Would the length to be sufficient to cover my bum cheeks (unlike most dresses I try on ?
