here

I LOVE the print and shape... but I would like it much more in a heavy cotton, then I could wear it all summer over jeans for beach and stuff - but it's silk and probably delicate.

OTOH - I love it so much, I kind of want to get it as an investment (when next feeling flush) for weddings etc.

Has anyone got it and can tell me what it's like?

The length is 39" which I've calculated should be on or just above the knee for me (5'10"). I have one other toast dress, bought in sale years ago which is a good fit and I'm tall and long-waisted.

I was in Toast this morning & looked at this. Didn't try it on though. It's very pretty, I love the fabric & the style but I couldn't see how I'd get enough wear out of it (I'm a SAHM). Had I been able to get the wear I would have tried it on as it's lovely. I always think Toast is a bit over-priced though. Mind, has nyone been into Jigsaw lately

Springflower · 01/04/2009 14:03

I have decided that I'm going to buy it but I am going to try and wait for a Toast discount code so fingers crossed one turns up soon!

BeehiveBaby · 01/04/2009 14:13

I have one for 10%, free PandP and returns, will find before day's end

Linwin · 01/04/2009 14:38

How cute - and definitely wearable in all seasons.

scampadoodle totally know what you mean about jigsaw and the staff in the one near me are soo pushy.

I went into Kew & Hobbs this morning & the staff were all over like a rash. The girl in Hobbs was very sweet but I felt hounded. Do they work on commission?

it is lovely (wish i hadn't eaten 2 cream eggs so i could fantasise about buying it).

muffle · 01/04/2009 15:22

Bit confused goat... does eating creme eggs ban you from Toast?

OP posts:
Linwin · 01/04/2009 15:22

There is a difference though between being helpful and being too pushy. If I say I don't want to try something on, I don't expect the assistant to bring it to the changing room anyway along with matching accessories.

I only go in now when I'm dressed down as then they assume I have no money so leave me alone.

JustCallMeGoat · 01/04/2009 15:24

it helps maintain my weight at an unacceptablely wobblely level. i would look like les dawson if i wore that dress in my present state.

muffle · 01/04/2009 15:27

Ah, creme eggs are worth it though.

Oh crikey, I am a lone voice here but that dress looks like a washer woman's housecoat to me.

muffle · 01/04/2009 15:32

I don't normally spend that much either anniemac! Hence the thread of deliberation... but I do have a policy of trying to avoid buying anything unless I really like it, and conversely spending more sometimes if I find something that I do love and that is totally "me" IYSWIM. Because I come across them rarely.

muffle · 01/04/2009 15:33

puppymonkey - again, you see that's a plus! Sofa, les dawson, washerwoman's housecoat - it's all good.

OP posts:
JustCallMeGoat · 01/04/2009 15:35

puppymonkey you can only wear it standing against a sun dappled wall with 1940's hair, holding a flower and looking muse-like.

actually i would be concerned that it is a little short.

muffle · 01/04/2009 15:35

And I have to agree about jigsaw as well. That's another source of justification... I used to spend money in jigsaw, I haven't for ages because all I can see is cack!

OP posts:
muffle · 01/04/2009 15:36

I'm worried about the length - 39" should be fine but it does look short. It might have a deep hem I could take down though.

OP posts:
JustCallMeGoat · 01/04/2009 15:38

you are not spending 145 fine english pounds on a dress you will be messing about with.

muffle · 01/04/2009 15:39

Yes, I would. i mess about with almost everything I buy.

OP posts:
muffle · 01/04/2009 15:40

I would wear it over jeans as well. I am not the floaty type toast has in mind you see - hence the OP about wanting it in canvas

OP posts:
JustCallMeGoat · 01/04/2009 15:55

have you looked at {whispers} boden? they normally do a fine line in les dawson housecoats.

muffle · 01/04/2009 16:11

Bored with boden. Get the odd thing and I like their jeans and pjs, but this year's housecoat selection not doing it for me!
