I have a dressy one to wear into town etc.

I need a more practical one to wear when walking the dog, walking with dd and for work when on duty outside.

I am a size 18 which limits my choices somewhat and although I want practicality I dont want to look like a michelin man or fool.

Liffey which landsend one do you have.

I've got a Landsend squall parka, and its very warm.

To give you an idea on the sizes, I'm a 10 and got a small, which fits fine, (apart from the sleeves are tiny bit on the short side, but then again, I'm 5ft 8)

If you mean the bright pinkNorthface one, I ordered it and sent it back last week. I found it too boxy - I think a padded jacket needs a curvy hem to soften it.

Did you try any Barbours? (banging on).

It's just occured to me - if you go to see an image consultant you will never have to go through this again
.
You will find out exactly what styles, shapes and colours suit you, and all of your future purchases will reflect this.

But it would mean you wouldn't get those hours of endless fun on mn 'style and beauty' threads - apart from dishing out advice, of course!

No I was going to pop to a local stockists after work but due to the weather dp did not want to drive out.

well my landsend squall parka arrived today. £48 in the sale. I'm very pleased with the appearance and fit

its a slightly darker/duller blue than it appears on my monitor and the fit is extremely generous. i am a 40in bust, so would normally buy a 14 jacket. I bought a small which is supposed to be size 10-12 and its fine over a t shirt AND a very bulky fleece

Quality seems very good but i haven't worn it yet so will let you know about performance!
